Saundersfoot Bay Welcome FREE 2015 to SAUNDERSFOOT BAY Web: www.visit-Saundersfoot.co.uk visit saundersfoot visit saundersfoot @saundersfootcft Croeso! Welcome to Saundersfoot! You will not have failed to notice that there are many exciting new developments taking place in Saundersfoot. Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism(SCT) is also developing, we are updating our marketing approach to ensure we reach as many people as possible to create both an interest and desire to visit this part of Pembrokeshire as well as to provide a warm welcome on arrival. Below is an outline of what SCT is proposing for 2015. Events - we will continue to organise and grow the now established range of Festival, New Year Fireworks and Big Bang Weekend with the aim to extend the quality and appeal of these occasions. Our web-site is being refreshed to make it more accessible and integrated with page with a very substantial where all Saundersfoot Chamber member businesses are featured. We are in discussions with Saundersfoot Community Forum and planning to support them in the continuation of a village newsletter similar to the very -site. This will provide greater opportunities for regularly updated village information to be shared. A colourful attractive Visitor Map of Saundersfoot Bay will be available from all members. The map provides visitors with an overview of the whole bay and the main walks and views that are within easy reach. are being planned to be located in prominent position(s) displaying the map around and along Saundersfoot Bay. A new leaflet is being produced that advertises Saundersfoot Bay and 100,000 of these will be widely circulated and made available to both returning and potential new visitors. Whenever it is possible and appropriate we will strive to support and work with key partner organisations and to also include and feature the businesses and together we can best promote what an increasingly attractive, varied, desirable and well known visitor destination Saundersfoot and the whole Bay is. We thank all the organisations that have supported us throughout the last twelve months, with special thanks to Saundersfoot Community Council, The Harbour Commissioners and Michael Davies, Harbour Manager, all of whom have helped in so many valued ways. Our major challenge is that we are totally dependent on the time and efforts freely given by our volunteers for all aspects of what we do. Thank you to all members who have supported us (a list can be found in the centre of this booklet) and we ask all residents and visitors to the area in turn to support them. Thank You. Philip Odley Jr Chair Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism 2015 Cawl Championship of the The patron saint of Wales was celebrated in fine style in Saundersfoot. 1 Town Tree Cover in Pembrokeshire Understanding canopy cover to better plan and manage our urban trees 2 Foreword Introducing a world-first for Wales is a great pleasure, particularly as it relates to greater knowledge about the hugely valuable woodland and tree resource in our towns and cities. We are the first country in the world to have undertaken a country-wide urban canopy cover survey. The resulting evidence base set out in this supplementary county specific study for Pembrokeshire will help all of us - from community tree interest groups to urban planners and decision-makers in local authorities Emyr Roberts Diane McCrea and our national government - to understand what we need to do to safeguard this powerful and versatile natural asset. Trees are an essential component of our urban ecosystems, delivering a range of services to help sustain life, promote well-being, and support economic benefits. They make our towns and cities more attractive to live in - encouraging inward investment, improving the energy efficiency of buildings – as well as removing air borne pollutants and connecting people with nature. They can also mitigate the extremes of climate change, helping to reduce storm water run-off and the urban heat island. Natural Resources Wales is committed to working with colleagues in the Welsh Government and in public, third and private sector organisations throughout Wales, to build on this work and promote a strategic approach to managing our existing urban trees, and to planting more where they will deliver the greatest

Clerk to Kilgetty – Begelly Community Council County Chambers Warren Street Tenby Pembrokeshire SA70 7JS 7th May 2020 To: Planning Support Team - [email protected] Planning Officer- Claire Jenkins CC Ian Westley CC County Councillor - David Pugh Pembrokeshire County Council Planning Department County Hall Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire 17th May 2020 Dear Ms Jenkins Re: Planning Application 19/0855/PA It has come to this Council's attention that works may commence in the very near future on the access road leading to Stepaside School. Due to major ongoing problems and the fact that contractors were not obeying to the Planning Conditions imposed by your Planning Authority a Stop Notice was placed on this site in 2019. This Council has not received any confirmation or indeed been informed if the Stop Notice has been lifted and works can recommence. The Council would therefore like an early response and clarification on the following: - 1. Has such works, appertaining to the digging up of the school access road in order to access drains and services, been approved and if such approval has been granted; by whom and what conditions have been put in place by Pembrokeshire County Council for the maintenance of such in perpetuity. 2. What decisions were made subsequent to the Planning Committee Meeting held at County Hall on the 10th of March 2020, which two Councillors and the Clerk attended. This Council was represented by the Chair - Cllr Diane Lockley, who spoke on behalf of the Community of Kilgetty and Begelly. Our understanding from that meeting was that Pembrokeshire County Council where to receive specifications to cover the four conditions before any further works were to take place.

Whether they mounted their attacks from the north or the south, when Norman barons invaded Wales after the Norman Conquest of 1066, they almost invariably ended up in West Wales and consolidated their position by building fortresses. Initially, these were simple “motte and bailey” constructions, typically built on a mound with ditches and/or wooden barricades for protection.
