The William Secord Gallery honors Ms. Evans’ beautiful and historically significant paintings, bronzes, jewels and works on paper in a show and sale of her remarkable collection including the glorious works of 18 th, 19 th, and 20 th century art world masters including Arthur Wardle, Maud Earl, Howard Hill, Edwin Holt, Louie Johnson Jones, Marguerite Kirmse, and others, as well as gorgeous antique jewels and important bronzes.

A Lover of Dogs and the Dog Art She Loved

Sarah Evans most enjoyed time at home surrounded by her Field Spaniels, friends and visitors who shared her deep love of her breed. Her website is filled with photos of happy families romping with new Field Spaniel pups, “Field Spaniel Fun Days” with old and new friends, and her beloved Field Spaniels romping in lakes, meadows, and fields and even sailing in boats. She also surrounded herself, in her home, with a variety of breeds portrayed in various media created by Marguerite Kirmse, Cecil Aldin, Morgan Dennis, and other fine artists.

CH. EMPIRE’S BROOKLYN DODGER (1989-2000) By Jeff Wright Dodger was truly a legend, and the most dominant sire of any breed that I have ever seen. I was asked why I thought that Dodger was so dominant in his producing ability, with any type of bitch, in all three varieties, and my answer to this question is – look at the producing record of his ancestors. As with any top producer, the secret lies in the pedigree behind the dog. Dodger’s pedigree is a combination of producing lines that were established long before the thought of his existence. Many thanks go to the countless hours of thought that went into his ancestors, from the conscientious breeders of yesteryear. It is of interest that in Dodger’s pedigree you will find the past top producing dog in breed history, Ch. Rinky Dink’s Sir Lancelot. Breaking his record was a feat in itself, and Dodger has broken many producing records. For instance, he was the only dog to win the Futurity and to sire a Futurity winner. In fact, he has to date produced 4 Best in Futurity winners. I am also thrilled to say that he has produced the alltime top - winning parti cocker, Ch. Rendition Triple Play, which himself was one of the 4 Futurity winners. obvious that Dodger has had a tremendous positive impact Dodger has produced several ASC winners and his offspring on our breed. I feel fortunate in helping to create such a fine are producing more ASC winners. He has produced Best in animal, and the thrill and privilege of being his handler – Show winners in all three varieties, and Best in Show winners memories I will never forget. on several continents. Starting his show career at ASC by winning Best in Futurity From his kids and grand kids, and now his great grandkids, and WD & BW at the following ASC, to his 3 best of Variety you can see the consistency in his producing lines. It is wins there, to his retirement show, winning Best Cocker at ASC. These are my fondest and most memorable experiences in dogs. Dodger was a once in a lifetime dog and I am glad that he was mine. I will always be so proud of his record winning over 30 Specialties, and his 12 All-Breed Bests in Show, but Dodger my companion, the Top producing sire of all time, will live in my heart forever.

I have noticed that some breeders are also doing cardiac The OFA also certifies dogs as free from patellar testing on their Cockers and having the results registered luxation as young as 12 months of age. This is done with OFA. While I do believe that there are some cardiac through a simple manual exam by a veterinarian. Cocker Spaniels seem to be clear on their incidence or which disease(s) Cockers are prone to luxating patellas, either due to genetics or injury, being afflicted with.
