5 Day Highlands & Skye Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Loch Lomond & Glencoe Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to Scotland's westy coast landscape, exploring Scotland’s first National Park and the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond. Later we visit the loch-side village of Inveraray with a visit to its famous Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, and then tour through beautiful Glencoe steeped in history with dramatic scenery. Overnight Glencoe. Day 2: Road to the Isles Day 2 takes us west on the spectacular ‘Road to the Isles’ providing wonderful views across the Sound of Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum. Our journey follows the West Highland Railway, intended to help open up this rural and remote part of the Scottish Atlantic coast. After a lovely lunch in the traditional fishing port of Mallaig we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight Skye area. Day 3: Isle of Skye Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the main settlement on the Island; Portree, with its colourful harbour front and interesting shops. Heading north we take in Uig, the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock Falls and travel through the rugged Trotternish Peninsula with other options a possibility. This will be a day to remember. Overnight Skye area. Day 4: Eilean Donan Castle & Central Highlands Day 4 begins with a visit to iconic Eilean Donan Castle before travelling through Glen Shiel to the charming village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness - keep a look out for Nessie! Later we travel east to spend the afternoon in the Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve, where we can have a short walk to enjoy its unique combination of woodland and open moorland. Overnight Pitlochry Day 5: Highland Perthshire & Stirling Castle Day 5 we enjoy some free time in the Victorian town of Pitlochry before we tour south via Dunkeld with its ancient riverside Cathedral. After lunch we head for Stirling Castle; favoured residence of Scotland’s Kings and Queens, for a full tour to take in the castles' long and turbulent history before travelling through to Edinburgh for the opportunity to do some last- minute shopping on the Royal Mile.
