I understand that your children will be nervous and perhaps anxious but I would like to assure you that we are here to support them in any way we can and make the transition to as smooth as possible. Our first priority is for your child to be settled and happy in their new environment as soon as possible and then for that to continue throughout their five years with us.

The Hollins is a successful and well respected school that leads the East Teaching School Alliance. We aim to bring out the best in every child. Our staff are proud to work here and our students are proud to be part of our school. School buses There are two official school buses, one serving Huncoat and one serving Fern Gore. These buses drop off and collect within the school grounds and students should get off in an orderly fashion when arriving and line up sensibly when leaving. So I suppose the answer to this is dependent on whether your child keeps to our rules and expectations. The most important factor in this is your support. Please trust that we are taking the right approach for your child. Incidents are investigated thoroughly and appropriate sanctions are given depending on the severity. Catering and ParentPay The Hollins Catering Services The Hollins is very proud of the catering services provided in school. Healthy options are available during each of these service periods. We seek to provide a wide range of options covering all requirements that also conform with county guidelines on ‘Healthy Eating and Nutrition’. We operate a daily menu covering a four week cycle and details of this service offering can be found later in the information pack. We feel it is very important to get the views of our students on the food and drinks that we provide and consequently we consult with them via the student council on a regular basis. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch, although fizzy drinks and energy drinks are not allowed at any point during the school day and will be confiscated if brought in.

Cashless School Meal System The Hollins operates a cashless school meal system where no cash can be taken at the point of sale. Each student will be allocated an account PIN number which must be kept securely. The student’s details including photograph are held by the system so that a student can pay for any food or drinks by entering their unique PIN number as and when the service is used.
