El MAIDEN ENGLAND TOUR marca el tercer capítulo en la Historia de IRON MAIDEN , un camino que comenzó en el año 2004 con “The Early Days DVD” y posteriormente en el 2005 con “Early Days Tour”. La segunda parte prosiguió en el 2008 con el DVD “ Live After Death ” y embarcándose en el innovador “Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9” que fué presenciado por más de dos millones de fans en casi 40 países y para los cuales volaban de show en show y de continente en continente en el personalizado Boeing 757 bautizado “Ed Force One” piloteado por el vocalista de la banda Bruce Dickinson y cubierto completamente por el DVD “ Vuelo 666 ”. Ahora MAIDEN ENGLAND encuentra a la banda recreando el set del show “ Seventh Son Tour ” realizado en 1988 y tocando varias canciones de aquel tour legendario y del concierto de 1989 que dio titulo al VHS “ Maiden England ”, que presta su nombre a este tour y fue relanzado en DVD por primera vez el 25 de Marzo de 2013. Bruce Dickinson dice: “Estamos muy entusiasmados en traerle este tour a nuestros fans en Argentina.     Iron Maiden – Live After Death DVD Review By Michael Makuch 3/9/08 I just purchased a blast from the past in the form of Iron Maiden’s “Live After Death” DVD. For the first time in over 20 years this live show documents Maiden’s seminal Powerslave Tour. I used to have a VHS copy many years ago and I haven’t seen the show for many years so it is a treat to be able to own this treasure of a concert film in a high quality DVD format. In fact, this is the first time this concert has been available in any format since it was originally released in the mid 80’s. “Live After Death” is a 2 DVD set and is affordably priced at around $15. The first disc is the original concert while disc 2 contains documentaries, rare live footage, a picture gallery and two promo videos from the Powerslave album. The set beautifully reproduces the graphics and contains a decent booklet, which is a rarity in most DVD packages. We’ve all come a long way from the time I found a busted cassette of “Live After Death” (no doubt tossed from a car in a fit of disgust with regard to the thin tape used in ‘double length’ single cassettes and their ability to bind easily with in-dash cassette players), that needed some reconstructive work that required a risky tape transplant to another tape body and razor sharp splicing to resurrect the music contained therein, to the point where I now possess said concert on CD audio and, now, DVD video formats I couldn’t have conceived of in the old days! The music itself, of course, is timeless.

Throughout its existence, heavy metal has been mired with controversies; critics slighted the music by shunning it off as being riddled with overblown adolescent theatrics, and conservative groups have accused the genre of being provocative due to its evil lyrical content. Inspite of all those adversities, heavy metal has held its stance as one of the most consistent forms of rock music. Metal music, through its efforts has reinstated the “ancient Indo-European spirit of vir”1 through a Romantic, Faustian form of music culture. This has staggered the general concept of mainstream music and has hence, since long, remained controversial. Heavy metal has never been popular with the mainstream masses, primarily due to the nature of the music. Amongst other things, lyrical content of the songs is one thing that is largely frowned upon and often considered to be one of the primary reasons why metal music has never struck a chord with the masses. But such allegations, while partly true, remain biased to a large extent.

    J Med Humanit DOI 10.1007/s10912-014-9274-8 Suicide, Self-Harm and Survival Strategies in Contemporary Heavy Metal Music: A Cultural and Literary Analysis Charley Baker & Brian Brown # Springer Science+Business Media New York 2014 Abstract This paper seeks to think creatively about the body of research which claims there is a link between heavy metal music and adolescent alienation, self-destructive behaviours, self- harm and suicide. Such research has been criticised, often by people who belong to heavy metal subcultures, as systematically neglecting to explore, in a meaningful manner, the psychosocial benefits for individuals who both listen to contemporary heavy metal music and socialize in associated groups. We argue that notions of survival, strength, community, and rebellion are key themes in contemporary heavy metal music. Through literary-lyrical analysis of a selection of heavy metal tracks, this paper aims to redress the balance of risk and benefit. We argue that listening to this type of music, the accompanying social relationships, sense of solidarity and even the type of dancing can ameliorate tumultuous and difficult emotions. Songs which could be read as negative can induce feelings of relief through the sense that someone else has felt a particular way and recovered enough to transform these emotions into a creative outlet. This genre of music may therefore not increase the risk of untoward outcomes in any simple sense but rather represent a valuable resource for young people in difficulty. Keywords Self-harm . Però l'estil de vida d'excessos amb l'alcohol i les drogues que tenien física i psicològicament desgastat al fins aquell moment cantant Paul Di' Anno estava començant a posar en seriós perill la contínua ascensió de la banda i això era una cosa que el seu fundador, Steve Harris no estava disposat a consentir. La conseqüència d'aquests excessos va portar a Paul Di' Anno a ser expulsat de la banda. El seu substitut seria Bruce Dickinson, la veu més potent i enèrgica que ha donat Anglaterra i conegut amb el sobrenom d' Air Raid Siren, sirena d'atac antiaeri.     Revista Brasileira de Estudos da Canção – ISSN 2238-1198 Natal, n.3, jan-jun 2013. www.rbec.ect.ufrn.br Historical Themes in Iron Maiden Songs (Part I): From the Cavemen to the Vikings Lauro Meller1 [email protected] Abstract: This paper intends to deepen some of the ideas put forward in a previous study of ours, “Historical Characters and Facts in Iron Maiden Songs: a journey from Pre-History to The Second World War” (MELLER, 2005). Our aim is to demonstrate that the lyrics to Maiden’s songs stand out in the Heavy Metal scenario (whose lyrics usually have as subject matters Satanism, sex, drinking, and drug abuse). Avoiding these commonplace topics, Steve Harris, the main songwriter in the group, invests in more elaborate lyrics, either inspired by literary works or about historical themes. In fact, there are so many songs in the band’s discography that deal with historical themes that it is even possible to draw a timeline that stems from Pre-History and reaches The Second World War. While our analytical approach tends to focus on the lyrics, it will not ignore some aspects that are crucial to a better understanding of songs, namely the strictly musical elements (melody, harmony, rhythm, arrangement, etc.), and performance.
