The ACU is the internationally recognized National Governing Body for motorcycle sport in the British Isles (less Northern Ireland). Formed in 1903, the ACU has a long tradition in the world of motorcycle sport being a founder member of the World Governing Body, the Federation Internationale Motocyclisme (FIM). The ACU has a major role in furthering the interests of motorcycle sport on a global basis. Domestically, the ACU provides for all forms of motorcycle sport ranging from Road Racing to all disciplines of Off Road activity and has successfully organized world class events such as Moto GP, World Superbikes, the Isle of Man TT Races and the Motocross of Nations. The ACU aims to ensure that all people irrespective of their age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour, social status or sexual orientation, have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in motorcycle sport at levels in all roles. The ACU fully supports youth activity in all disciplines and through the ACU Academy, some of our young riders go on to become British, European and World Champions in their chosen sport. In November 2007 Tynwald resolved that the Council of Ministers consider the establishment of a suitable body for the preservation of War Memorials in the Isle of Man. Subsequently in October 2008, following a report by a Working Group established by Council of Ministers to consider the matter, Tynwald gave approval to the formation of the Isle of Man Government Preservation of War Memorials Committee. I am pleased to lay the Annual Report before Tynwald from the Chair of the Committee. I would like to formally thank the members of the Committee for their interest and dedication shown in the preservation of Manx War Memorials and to especially acknowledge the outstanding voluntary contribution made by all the membership. May 2015 As I write, our president Brendan Smith is still in Europe enjoying the sights following his competing in the Scottish Six Days Trial. It seems that the SSDT was even tougher than usual this year, especially in the early part of the week, with Tuesday’s circuit being rated by many as being the toughest day in living memory. A combination of a very long circuit (around 100 miles), tough sections, terrible weather and a tight time allowance resulted in substantial time penalties for many riders. Unfortunately for Brendan, after surviving the day, a mechanical failure put him out on the Wednesday morning, but his Victorian riding companion Tim Lewis made it to the finish. Congratulations to both riders for their great efforts. I am sure that the SSDT bug will have bitten them and they will both be back for another attempt in the future.

Good Practice Guidance for Event Organisers & Land Managers, the current version of which may be found on the LARA website at https://laragborg.wordpress.com/publications/ This paper is a brief overview of the subject, and good advice is to be found in the various Refer- ence Documents listed below, which explain why some sites succeed while others fail. 1. ‘Off-road driving sites’ largely fall into three categories: • Motor sport event sites – which include permanent race tracks like Brands Hatch and the wide range of permanent sites at which organised events take place. The bottom end of this category would be something like a moto-cross track on a farm, where the track itself is a permanent feature, although the land is grazed between events. Motor sport events sites might be owned by commercial enterprises, by motor sport clubs (comparatively uncommon) or by, typically, farmers, who allow access by licence or lease. In general, there is no ‘public access’ to the use of these sites. Control rests with the site owners and event-organising clubs. • Motor sport practice tracks. Bar a few such sites owned by clubs, these sites are op- erated by the small business sector.
