The following information provided by the proponent I have applied for getting Environmental Clearance to DEIAA, Thiruvananthapuram District for quarrying of Granite Building stone in S.F.No: 155/1 (P) over an extent of 0.6545Ha in Karavaram Village, Chirayinkeezhu Taluk and Thiruvananthapura District. I will not deploy any child labors below 18 years for any type of quarrying operation. All labours engaged for quarrying operation will be insured till the end of life of quarry period. All type of safety / protective equipment’s will be provided to all the labourers working in my quarry site. I will sincerely follow and execute the Afforestation and Green belt as proposed during the course of quarrying operation and maintain Afforestation after the expiry of quarrying lease. I ensure to involve and participate in the corporate social responsibilities of the local community as declared in the report. The quarry operation has not been commenced and will likely to operate after grant of Environmental clearance and sanction of permit. I solemnly declare & affirm that few quarries are located within the radius of 500m, the total extent of the quarries is not exceeds 25Ha. Besides I wish to state that the approach road belongs to me only and no other patta roads are encountered. No Habitation/ Village are located within 100meters radius from the periphery of this proposed quarry. The quarrying operation will not cause any hindrance to the nearby public, nearby villagers and human settlements during transportation of mineral. I wish to state there is no protected Areas notifies within the radius of 10km from the proposed quarry site under the wildlife (Protection) Act 1972. No critically polluted area as identified within the radius of 10km from the quarry site by CPCB constituted under water (Prevention and control of pollution) Act, 1974. No Eco sensitive areas as identified within the radius of 10km from the proposed quarry site. There is no interstate and international boundary within 5km radius from the boundary of the quarry site. - 4 - PRE FEASIBILITY REPORT OF GRANITE BUILDING STONE M.Ajantha., UNDER EIA NOTIFICATION 2006 2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT OR BACKGROUND INFORMATION (i) Identification of project and project proponent: In case of mining project, a copy of mining lease/letter of intent should be given owner name and address of the Project proponent Identification of Project Name of the Project Granite Building stone quarry project Permit area 0.6545Ha (Patta land) - Non forest Location Survey Nos. 155/1 (P) Karavaram Village, Chirayinkeezhu Taluk, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala State. Topo Sheet No. 58 D/13 Project Proponent Name with Address Mrs.M.Ajantha, Proprietrix, M/s.Sivamurugan Granites, KP.V/745A, Nellikkunnu, Nedumparambu PO, Chirayinkeezhu Tk, Trivandrum District, In case of mining project, a copy of mining lease/letter of intent should be given I. The letter of intent was received from the Thiruvananthapuram Geologist (Letter No 1190/DOT/ML/2017 Dated 09.10.2017). II. The Mining Plan was got approval by the Department of Mining and Geology, District office, vide letter No. 1190/DOT/ML/2017 Dated 20.12.2017). (ii) Brief description about nature of the project The permit area is exhibits undulated hilly terrain. The Granite Building stone quarrying operation is proposed to carry out by conventional opencast Semi mechanized method by formation of benches. Five benches are proposed with a height of 5mts on Granite Building stone. The width of each bench is proposed not less than the height. The quarry operation involves jackhammer drilling; Slurry blasting and manual loading of Granite building stone to needy crushers. The massive charnockite formation is clearly inferred with outcrops and existing quarry works. The slope is gentle towards south east, with the highest elevation of the area is at 108 m RL. Ultimate depth of the pit is proposed at 85.5m RL The maximum proposed production is around 17,113Tonnes per annum. The topsoil would be around 18,144m3 the thickness of the top soil is about 2m. top soil will be preserved all along the boundary barrier for the afforestation and Green belt development. - 5 - PRE FEASIBILITY REPORT OF GRANITE BUILDING STONE M.Ajantha., UNDER EIA NOTIFICATION 2006 (iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region The Granite Building stone is important building material to our country and region; it’s a vital material for Infrastructure development and Road widening project. Hence a lot of building stone is required for Granular sub base (GSB). The mining project will fulfill its end uses in construction purposes. The mining and associated activities in the mineral bearing areas will add to the revenue of the state through royalty on the mineral and the taxes as well as improve the economic conditions of the local people through direct and secondary employment.
