The Rolling Stones (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction Hit Songs Deconstructed Deconstructing Today's Hits for Songwriting Success http://reports.hitsongsdeconstructed.com The Rolling Stones (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction Artist: The Rolling Stones Song/Album: (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction / Out Of Our Heads Writer(s): Jagger/Richards Year Released: 1965 Genre/Sub Genre: Rock History: Released in 1965 and written by one of the strongest songwriting teams in the history of popular music, (Jagger/Richards), Satisfaction remains one of the most identifiable, infectious Rock songs of all time. Take Note Of This: The “riff of riffs” coupled with an immense use of repetition throughout the song. Why it’s a “Penn’s Pick”: Out of all the Rock songs ever written, ask anyone which would be near the top of their list and I guarantee you’re going to hear Satisfaction. So what is it about Satisfaction that makes it so irresistible that it still resonates 46 years after its initial release? Aside from the historical mystique of the Stones, it comes down to the strength of the song – most specifically the infectious nature of the key riff (3 notes) coupled with excessive use of repetition throughout the song. Together, coupled with the song’s sheer simplicity and raw nature, Satisfaction has become one of the most identifiable and memorable songs in the history of popular music. We will be releasing a comprehensive report on this song in the near future, but in the mean time here are some interesting stats: TITLE OCCURRENCES: The title occurs 22 times within the song 6 Times: I can’t get no satisfaction 13 Times: I can’t get no 3 Times: No satisfaction MAIN RIFF: Consists of just three notes (B, C# and D) and occurs throughout 67% of the total song MAIN RIFF OCCURRENCES IN EACH SECTION OF THE SONG (Notice how the riff comes and goes throughout the song so that it doesn’t “over stay” its welcome and remains effective: INTRO: RIFF NO RIFF I can’t get no satisfaction, 1 / 3 Hit Songs Deconstructed Deconstructing Today's Hits for Songwriting Success http://reports.hitsongsdeconstructed.com I can’t get no satisfaction. ‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try. Course Outline and Syllabus The Fab Four and the Stones: How America surrendered to the advance guard of the British Invasion. This six-week course takes a closer look at the music that inspired these bands, their roots-based influences, and their output of inspired work that was created in the 1960’s. Topics include: The early days, 1960-62: London, Liverpool and Hamburg: Importing rhythm and blues and rockabilly from the States…real rock and roll bands—what a concept! Watch out, world! The heady days of 1963: Don’t look now, but these guys just might be more than great cover bands…and they are becoming very popular…Beatlemania takes off. We can write songs; 1964: the rock and roll band as a creative force. John and Paul, their yin and yang-like personal and musical differences fueling their creative tension, discover that two heads are better than one. The Stones, meanwhile, keep cranking out covers, and plot their conquest of America, one riff at a time. The middle periods, 1965-66: For the boys from Liverpool, waves of brilliant albums that will last forever—every cut a memorable, sing-along winner. While for the Londoners, an artistic breakthrough with their first all--original record. Mick and Keith’s tempestuous relationship pushes away band founder Brian Jones; the Stones are established as a force in the music world. Prisoners of their own success, 1967-68: How their popularity drove them to great heights—and lowered them to awful depths. It’s a long way from three chords and a cloud of dust.

Who Are The Rolling Stones? By the time the Rolling Stones took the stage in the early evening, the mood had taken a decidedly ugly turn, as numerous fights began to erupt between Angels and crowd members. There is something fulfilling about it. It was as though he had a terrible, searing pain somewhere deep inside and the only way he could get momentary relief was to pass that pain on to somebody else. Hansen's elegant nonchalance and approachable glamour have been her trademarks since she started modeling nearly 40 years ago. Whether it was or not, no one will ever know. Most of these tracks are primarily associated with the Stones today anyway, despite coming from all kinds of Big Masters, from Rufus Thomas to Willie Dixon to Chuck Berry. It calms down the mind and lets us focus on the beauty. No way! But hurting women didn't seem to be something Brian did simply to give himself physical pleasure. You can almost imagine what it would feel like to be part of this awesome madness. His mind must have been turning somersaults inside his skull. Are they immortal? She worked with the greats, everyone from Richard Avedon to Patrick Demarchelier.

  • CHARLIE WATTS 1941 to 2021 the Rhythmic Force Behind the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World
CHARLIE WATTS 1941 to 2021 The rhythmic force behind the greatest rock and roll band in the world. The Rolling Stones were a force of nature when they were in the studio during their artistic peak in the 60s and 70s. Their albums through the 60s produced masterpieces with Out Of Our Heads (1965 being their first self-penned), Aftermath (1966 which indicated song writing prowess) and culminating in Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed (1968 and 1969 respectively – pure magnificence). Sure, we had several huge selling singles in between. A run of releases from 1965 to 1969 produced Satisfaction, Get Off Of My Cloud, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Paint It, Black, Mother’s Little Helper, Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In The Shadow?, Let’s Spend The Night Together, We Love You, In Another Land, She’s A Rainbow, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man and Honky Tonk Women. Their incredible 70s album run continued with Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main St., Goats Head Soup, It’s Only Rock n’ Roll, Black and Blue and Some Girls. The glue that provided their success was the rhythm unit of Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman. They dictated the back beat and gave the roll to the band’s rock. According to Charlie, the Rolling Stones meant nothing to him – that was Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. They were the artistic front while the sparkles were the founders of the band Brian Jones and Ian Stewart not to mention Nicky Hopkins, Mick Taylor and Ron Wood. There are of course significant other contributors – Andrew Oldham, Jack Nitzsche, Glyn Johns, Dave Hassinger, Jimmy Miller, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston and Andy Johns – and yes, I am sure I have missed important others.
