Espero que disfrutes de la experiencia en clase muchísimo. For the summer you will need to complete ALL 3 activities. All work is to be completed in Spanish and is due the second day of class in September. You may complete a digital portfolio to share or you can complete the assignments on paper. Activity 1: Write an essay in Spanish about your view on immigration. Include your responses to these questions and others questions you feel pertain to the topic: What are some reasons immigrants choose to come to the United States? Should we allow immigrants into the country? Why or why not? Why do many immigrants come illegally? Should we allow them in? Why or why not? Do you have any advice or suggestions on how to improve this situation/plan? Activity 2: Complete your summer Scavenger Hunt.. You need to score a total of 120 points or more and keep a digital file on Google Drive or a paper file of your evidence for each activity you complete. Please share paper files and digital files with me at [email protected]. SCAVENGER HUNT OPTIONS: 15 points: Follow a famous Spanish speaker on Twitter (artist, athlete, musician, actor, etc.) and write a few tweets in Spanish to this person. Please write a meaningful message. Your goal should be to get a reply. If you do you will triple your point value. Check out some new songs to inspire you here. 10 points: Create a Pinterest Board of famous sayings in Spanish. Write what your favorite saying is and what it means to you in Spanish. 40 points: Create a thinglink about a cultural holiday or tradition such as La Tomatina, La Corrida de Toros, San Fermin, Carneval, Reyes Magos, Nochevieja, Dia de los Muertos, Semana Santa or any other holiday you find interesting. It should include text, images and video in the target language. 50 points: Ask Sra. to borrow a “novela” or a Comprehension Based Reader similar to what you have read in Spanish 3H or Spanish IV like “Biancanieves” or “La Guerra Sucia”. You may not read a “novela” you have read in class.. Read it and write a review of it and create a video about the plot line, if it was worth reading, suggestions to improve it, and any other information you think should be added. 20 points: Try mole or cuy and videotape your expression trying it for the first time. 20 points: Make a Hispanic food for your family to try. Include the recipe in your file, photos of you making it and of your family eating it. In order to get double points, bring the food to the second day of class for everyone to try. 15 points: Learn and recite a song in Spanish without seeing the words. Sing it for the class or create a video of yourself singing it without using the lyrics. 15 points: Buy a Spanish music album and write the main idea of the music on the album and a reflection of what the music means to you. (Some interesting artists are Los Rakas, Juanes and more on the chart above.) 25 points: Download the application DuoLingo. Try to complete as many levels as you scan and screenshot your final score. Make a list of 15 new words you learned for your file. 15 points: Create a Pinterest board about one of the following topics and after write a reflection about what you learned: La Mara Salvatrucha, la inmigración or la llorona. 20 points: Watch a sporting event in Spanish. Afterwards prepare a sports news review of highlights and what happened in video form and include in your file. (Try lucha libre) 20 points: Watch a movie in Spanish that you have NEVER seen before. Write a review or create a video of a tv review of it. Netflix has many such as Canela, Mar adentro and more. YOU MAY NOT WATCH A FILM YOU WATCHED THIS YEAR IN CLASS SUCH AS VALENTIN, LADRON QUE ROBA A LADRON or any other film such as LA MISMA LUNA that you may have seen in Spanish IV, IV H, 3 or 3H. (E-mail me if you need some other suggestions.) 15 puntos. Take a virtual tour of a museum in a Spanish-speaking country such as El Prado, Reina Sofía o Museo Frida Kahlo. Write a reflection of your visit. (30 puntos) 10 points: Learn two jokes in Spanish and tell them to the class. 20 points: Create a poem or a rap in Spanish on any topic and perform it for the class or record and show it to the class. 20 points: Watch a telenovela. You can find many on line, especially on Netflix. Write a synopsis of the plot and compare it to American telenovelas. Double points would be for you and friends to act out a scene from what you saw or a commercial for an upcoming episode. Check out all the things available in Spanish: Click Browse --> Audio and Subtitles Click Audio and then select Spanish Or, check if the show / movie you’re watching can go into Spanish 5 points: Bring in a menu from a Spanish-speaking restaurant. (+5 puntos if it’s not from a Mexican restaurant.) Triple points if you get video of yourself trying a new food there. 10 points: Post a photo of yourself with a sign or billboard in Spanish. Include a Spanish caption to tell where you were and what the sign meant. (Include in your file.) 20 points: Post a video of yourself doing something interesting while talking or explaining it in Spanish. Your video could be instructional or just for fun! Activity 3: Create one slide in Google Presentations that represents 3 of the most interesting things you did this summer. We will have a competition called “La Batalla Del Verano” ! Include pictures and little to no text. Here is a sample. Everyone will present their slide to the class. After watching all, we will vote on the most interesting presentation and this person will receive a prize!
