SIGN-IN begins at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Earlier hike departure times as well as other important information including any changes will be in red print online. Applications are available on the Website. GUEST AND TENANT POLICY: The GVR Policy Manual stipulates that a “guest’s principal place of residence must be more than 20 miles from the point on GVR’s boundaries which is closest to the guest’s place of residence.” Guests 18 years and older must have a valid GVR guest card to hike with the club and must be accompanied by a sponsoring Hiking Club member. Guests do not need to attend a club orientation session. Guest cards are not acceptable for membership. Tenants must have a GVR Tenant Card and are required to attend a club orientation session before hiking with the club. ORIENTATION: All new Hikers must attend a club orientation session before taking their first hike. The schedule for the next Orientation sessions as to dates, times, and location will be posted on the website. Registration for Orientation must be completed online and is limited to 8 attendees per session. For more information, call Barb Fleshman at 907-351-9481. SIGN-IN: All Club Members must show their GVR Membership or Tenant Card and then must print their name and GVR Number Clearly on the Sign-In Sheets. If they cannot be read, you may not receive credit for the hike. Guests are temporarily not allowed. After Orientation, new hikers may hike twice before joining the Club. ALL Club Members must be current in their dues. STATE LAND PERMIT (SLP): You must have a current SLP to go on hikes designated SLP. A link to the AZ State Land Department website, where you can purchase an SLP, is available on our club website. NON-U.S. CITIZENS: All Non-US Citizens must have appropriate identification at highway Border Patrol check points. TRAIL CONDITIONS KEY: Trail 1= Well-Defined Trail with Good Footing, 2= Good Trail with Some Rocky/Loose Footing, 3= Rocky/Loose Footing and/or Some Bushwhacking, 4= Extensive Bushwhacking and/or Rock Scrambling, 5= Severe Bushwhacking and/or Rock Scrambling. ROAD CONDITIONS KEY: Road 1= Paved, 2= OK Dirt or Gravel, 3= High Clearance Vehicle, 4= High Clearance Vehicle with 4WD, 5=Jeep Attention Hikers! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are limiting the size of our hikes to 12 individuals, including the hike leader and assistant leader. Because most club members who have been hiking are fully immunized (two shots plus two weeks), we now are allowing fully immunized members to ride together to the trailhead. Hikers will sort themselves into cars. Hikers who are not fully immunized should expect to drive themselves to trailheads.

All hikers must be masked in the West Center parking lot. NO GUESTS will be allowed.

It is imperative that if you experience any symptoms of illness or, unfortunately, recently tested positive for COVID-19, even if you are asymptomatic, that you do not hike with our club. If within 10 days after hiking with the club you develop symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, coughing or breathing problems, you must contact your hike leader or the hike master so we can notify everyone who hiked with you about their possible exposure.

LEADER: DAVID LINN 269-598-6415 (Difficult A, Trail=3, Road=3, $12, Max Elev.=8482) HIKE DEPARTS AT 6:00 AM. This trail is a steep and rocky climb to the top of Rincon Peak. Views from the summit are unforgettable. On a clear day you can see a dozen mountain ranges. Hike Leader's approval required prior to the hike. No walk-ups allowed. RESTRICTED TO HIKERS HAVING COMPLETED DIFFICULT A HIKES. Bring a flashlight and 5 liters of water. A-2 MADERA MINE KENT BOG SPRINGS (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 7 MI. 2100 FT. TRAVEL: 28 MI. LEADER: JIM CHISHOLM 789-0318 (Moderate A, Trail=3, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=6983) A loop hike to Madera Mine and etchings, a bushwhack to Rogers Ridge and 4 Springs Trail; then on to Kent Springs, Bog Springs, the Pipeline Trail and back to the cars. B-1 BUG SPRINGS (CATALINA) HIKE: 5.1 MI. 1600 FT. TRAVEL: 100 MI. LEADER: STEVE WHITE 715-579 (Moderate B, Trail=2, Road=1, $8.00 ) Hike the Bug Springs trail to view great rock formations and valley vistas. B-2 ANNIE DANIELS CLAIM AND BEYOND (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 7 MI. 1400 FT. TRAVEL: 28 MI. LEADER: BILL HILL 343-0180 (Moderate B, Trail=3, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=5853) This is an opportunity to enjoy an old hike and see where Ben Daniels made a claim for his wife Annie. C-1 DUTCH JOHN SPRING (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 5 MI. 1500 FT. TRAVEL: 26 MI. LEADER: TONY CROSBY 369-8221 (Difficult C, Trail=2, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=6047) A short, modestly steep hike under the cover of oak and sycamores. C-2 BEYOND JOINER CAMP (HUACHUCA) HIKE: 5.2 MI. 1100 FT. TRAVEL: 148 MI. LEADER: DAVE COLICCHIO 510-604-7018 (Moderate C, Trail=2, Road=3, $14, Max Elev.=6270) HIKE DEPARTS AT 6:30 AM. Hike a no-name, easy canyon and trail route, generally shaded. It would be rare to see other hikers in this beautiful area. C-3 MADERA MULTI-TRAIL LOOP (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 5 MI. 1060 FT. TRAVEL: 27 MI. LEADER: GARY ICENOGLE 406-654-4075 (Moderate C, Trail=2, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=5735) An interesting loop hike on familiar trails, this hike provides nice vistas of the valley and Santa Rita Mountain peaks on both sides of as well as several opportunities to see flowing water. C-4 GILA MONSTER MINE (TUSCON) HIKE 4 MI. 600 FT. TRAVEL: 78 MI. LEADER JOE MacISAAC 648-8272 (Easy C, Trail=2, Road=1, Max Elev.=2900 ft.) Enjoy an easy hike in the Saguaro West NP and visit the Thunderbird and Gila Monster Mines. C-5 TUBAC PRESIDIO to GOLF COURSE (SANTA CRUZ VALLEY) HIKE: 4.4 MI. 190 FT. TRAVEL: 42 MI. LEADER: HELEN ZAUKAS 625-1187 (Easy C, Trail=1, Road=1, $3, Max Elev.=3235) Scenic flat hike among tall trees from the town of Tubac along the Anza Trail and TGC Trail (Tubac Golf Course).

LEADER: KEITH BLAIR 281-303-7316 (Difficult A, Trail=4, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=9035) A difficult hike with views along the Crest Trail and from the summit of 88 MAC that are some of the best in the Santa Rita Mountains. B-1 EL ZORRINO PEAK (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 5 MI. 1250 FT. TRAVEL: 65 MI. LEADER: TERRY FERGUSON 334-9219 (Difficult B, Trail=3, Road=3, $7, Max Elev.=6122) Hike on the east side of the Santa Ritas to Zorrino Peak and Mollie's Knob. B-2 AZ TRAIL - SCOTIA CANYON (HUACHUCA) HIKE: 6.2 MI. 800 FT. TRAVEL: 144 MI. LEADER: WAYNE MOSHIER 393-0875 (Easy B, Trail=2, Road=2, $12, Max Elev.=5948) HIKE DEPARTS AT 6:30 AM. Hike a section of the AZ Trail east of Parker Canyon Lake and up Scotia Canyon returning down a meandering canyon passing a large water tank. C-1 MADERA PIPELINE LOOP (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 5 MI. 950 FT. TRAVEL: 26 MI. LEADER: TONY CROSBY 369-8221 (Difficult C, Trail=2, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=5928) Hike familiar trails to Kent Spring road then down past the Kent Center back to the Amphitheater. C-2 MINT SPRINGS LOOP (CATALINA) HIKE: 5 MI. 1000 FT. TRAVEL: 145 MI. LEADER: SUSAN BECK-BROWN 396-4601 (Difficult C, Trail=2, Road=1, $12, Max Elev.=8128) Starting on the Marshall Gulch Trail, climb through a beautiful area to Marshall Saddle and right to the Mint Springs Trail. Return is leader’s choice.

Hike the as it follows a meandering stream up scenic Sunnyside Canyon. C-5 NATURE TRAIL (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 4 MI. 500 FT. TRAVEL: 26 MI. LEADER: PAT BOECK 406-250-2778 (Easy C, Trail=2, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=5425) This hike is good for beginning hikers and for those returning from a long time without hiking. It provides some elevation gain and nice views along the way.

LEADER: BILL WHITE 907-952-4679 (Moderate A, Trail=3, Road=1, $2, Max Elev.=7448) Follow the Vault Mine Trail to the Agua Caliente Trail. Then an easy walk to Josephine Saddle on a beautiful section of trail. Return on Old Baldy Trail. B-1 RATTLESNAKE CANYON - B (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 4.5 MI. 1600 FT. TRAVEL: 38 MI. LEADER: TERRY FERGUSON 334-9219 (Moderate B, Trail=2, Road=2, $3, Max Elev.=6465) Hike on Agua Caliente Trail crossing a stream many times to a mine. B-2 DRAGOON SPRING WASH (DRAGOONS) HIKE: 4.5 MI. 500 FT. TRAVEL: 146 MI. LEADER: KAY PASLEY 850-559-2793 (Easy B, Trail=3, Road=3, $14, Max Elev.=5440) HIKE DEPARTS AT 6:30 AM. LEADER: SUE KAZMIER 444-3507 (Easy C, Trail=1, Road=1, $4, Max Elev.=3373) An easy well shaded hike on the Anza Trail from Palo Parado Road north past an interesting railroad area. C-3 ENCHANTING FOREST (PATAGONIA) HIKE: 5.2 MI. 500 FT. TRAVEL: 130 MI. LEADER: SALLY BOYSEN 399-3490 (Easy C, Trail=2, Road=2, $10, Max Elev.=5194) HIKE DEPARTS AT 6:30 AM Hike the Corral Canyon on good roads and trails. Great woodland and meadows. TRAVEL: 107 MI. LEADER: JIM CHISHOLM 789-0318 (Moderate A, Trail=3, Road=4, $11, Max Elev.=8156) Hike up Cave Creek Trail to Florida Saddle then north on the Sawmill Canyon Trail to a bushwhack to the summit, enjoying views along the way. B-1 LUND'S PEAK VIA 231 (SANTA RITA) HIKE: 5 MI. 1400 FT. TRAVEL: 65 MI. LEADER: PATSY SILLS 207-8233 (Difficult B, Trail=3, Road=4, $7, Max Elev.=6142) Hike to a high peak north of Box Canyon Road through narrow canyons and along ridgelines, trails, and roads. There is some bushwhacking. B-2 COCHISE STRONGHOLD EAST (DRAGOONS) HIKE: 6.5 MI. 1500 FT. TRAVEL: 175 MI.
