Down deep, the fish are more powerful and more pure. It's a natural, human desire. And a lot of people look for it in drugs. But the problem is that the body, the physiology, takes a hard hit on drugs. Drugs injure the Catching the Big Fish: Meditation system, so they just make it harder to get those experiences on your own. I have smoked marijuana, but I no longer do. I went to art school in the s, so you can imagine what was going on. Yet my friends were the ones who said, "No, no, no, David, don't you take those drugs. Besides, far Consciousness and Creativity profound experiences are available naturally. When your consciousness stars expanding, those experiences are there. All those things can be seen. It's just a matter of expanding that ball of consciousness. And the ball of consciousness can expand to be infinite and unbounded. It's totality. You can have totality. So all those experiences are there for you, without the side effects of drugs. Turn on the light and the darkness goes. Turn up that light of pure consciousness: Negativity goes. You may beed a working music studio. Or a computer room where you can write something. It's crucial to have a setup, so that, at any given moment, when you get an idea, you have the place and the tools to make it happen. If you don't have a setup, there are many times when you get the inspiration, the idea, but you have no tools, no place to put it together. And the idea just sits there and festers. Overtime, it will go away. You didn't filfill it--and that's just a heartache. It can say things—big, abstract things. And I love that about it. Some people are poets and have a beautiful way of saying things with words. But cinema is its own language. You have so many tools. Its a Catching the Big Fish: Meditation medium. When I catch an idea for a film, I fall in love with the way cinema can express it. Soon there are more and more and more fragments, and the whole thing emerges. But it starts with desire. No one understands when I say that, but it is. If you paint over a building there is no more magic to that building. When I got into the room, I asked him, 'Do you think that this process could, in any way, damage my creativity? You can have your coffee or your milk shake, and you can go off into strange dark areas, and always come back to the safety of the diner. So I don't really Catching the Big Fish: Meditation to know very much ahead of time. I like the feeling of dicovery. When you're fishing, you have to have patience. You bait your hook, and then you wait. The desire is the bait that pulls those fish in—those ideas. The beautiful thing is that when you catch one fish that you love, even if it's a little fish—a fragment of an idea—that fish will draw in other fish, and they'll hook onto it. Then you're on your way. You splash into it. You can vibrate with this bliss. Experiencing pure consciousness enlivens it, expands it. Catching the Big Fish: Meditation starts to unfold and grow. You can catch ideas at a deeper level. And creativity really flows. It makes life more like a fantastic game. So the art life means a freedom to have time for the good things to happen. Intuition is seeing the solution—seeing it, knowing it. It's a magical medium. Never turn down Consciousness and Creativity good idea, but never take a bad idea. And meditate. Have you ever seen a Consciousness and Creativity rotted animal? I love looking at those things, just as much as I like to look at a close-up of some tree bark, or a small bug, or a cup of coffee, or a piece of pie. You get in close and the textures are wonderful. I think it would help any filmmaker. So start diving within, enlivening that Consciousness and Creativity consciousness. Grow in happiness and intuition. Experience the joy of doing. Your friends Consciousness and Creativity be very, very happy with you. Everyone will want to sit next to you. And people will give you money! They really look out for the filmmaker and the rights of the filmmaker, and they believe in final cut. I was looking for a key to unlock what these sequences were saying. And it was a struggle. So I got out my Bible and I started reading. And one day, I read a sentence. And I closed the Bible, because that was it; that was it. And then I saw the thing as a whole. And it fulfilled this vision for me, Consciousness and Creativity. Welcome back. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity by David Lynch I must confess I haven't read the book, but that is because I have the audio version, which is fantastic. Lynch has such a quirky vocal style that it really makes his quirky stories come alive. He gives many little anecdotes about his life and how it has developed, how he became an artist and film maker and his overall personal and spiritual journey. Its sort Consciousness and Creativity like a bio but a very light and entertaining one that moves along quickly and just hits the highlights Catching the Big Fish: Meditation his rather unusual life. I thought this book was fantastic, although I am a huge David Consciousness and Creativity fan. This would be a terrific book if you are interested in meditation, art, and where ideas come from. Lynch often sites the Upanishads and the Gita in his very short chapters. If you are huge fan of Lynch, get the audio book, he reads it and I couldn't ask for anything more. Read on plane on way to vacation. Quick read, love his view of things. As a lifelong meditator who just recently took up TM, I enjoyed this even more. This is a nice, easy reading book to take in when you want something easy, breezy, and won't take more than a day or two to finish. It's divided into tiny sections of mostly one or two pages per piece, but Catching the Big Fish: Meditation still flows together Catching the Big Fish: Meditation enough to not be jarring. The focus is on how Lynch feels about meditation and its relationship to greater creativity. He shares anecdotes and sprinkles in a little commentary on a few of his movies for good measure. All in all, it's very worthwhile, especially when proceeds end up going to his foundation that donates money to schools to promote Transcendental Meditation. After you're done with the book, you'll understand why this is a wonderful thing to do. There's an awful lot of quantum nonsense in this book, but if you can get past that, it's my very favorite kind of creativity book: an Catching the Big Fish: Meditation telling specific stories about their own life and experience doing the work, which somehow manages to convey more universal ideas at the same time. I'm intrigued. I also think that David Lynch doesn't understand people very well. Here at Walmart. Your email address will never be sold or distributed to a third party for any reason.
