PESTICIDES RESIDUES IN VEGETABLES OF GODWAR AREA (BALI, AND SADRI) OF WESTERN , SANGEETA PARIHAR, SARIKA NAGAR AND RAINA JADHAV Department of Chemistry, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India (Received 2 March, 2020; Accepted 22 April, 2020)

ABSTRACT Godwar area of Rajasthan like Falna, Bali, and Sadri is one of the most important areas of western Rajasthan for vegetable production. The majority of vegetables in godwar area in Rajasthan are found uncontaminated with pesticides. Total 3 types of vegetable sample ex. Brinjal, tomato and cauliflower are collected from different farms of this areas and analysis of pesticides residue by quechers method. The interesting result was found. There are no pesticides residue found in the vegetables of Godwar area.

KEY WORDS : Pesticides residues, quechers method and uncontamination.

INTRODUCTION Various types of pesticides used including organochlorine, organophosphorous etc, to protect We know that vegetables and fruits are very the vegetables from pests and diseases as well as to important part of our daily balance diet. It’s increase the production of vegetables. This provides many1 types of minerals and vitamins, pesticides residue causes different types of which are essential for our body metabolism, but the respiratory, neurological damage, acts as a truth is that this mineral and vitamins providers genotoxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic. Common source like vegetable and fruits are going to effect of pesticides residue in human body as contaminated day by day with different types of nausea, vomiting and disorder in fetus. We studied pesticides, which causes harmful side effects on on various types of vegetable mostly tomato, human body. cauliflower and brinjal of different farms of godwar According to WHO report2 there should be at area of western Rajasthan to find out the pesticide least 30 % fruits and vegetables in our daily diet residues in these vegetables. We worked mostly in according to age and weight of a person, because Falna, Bali and Sadri area in of western vegetables and fruits are main source of nutrient, Rajasthan and found interesting result. but it’s becoming curse of human health now a days. The main reason of using pesticides is to protect METHODOLOGY the vegetables and fruits from pests and improve production and quality. We know that about 60% of Samples of brinjal, cauliflower and tomato are population of India are depend on agriculture and selected from different farm of bali, falna and sadri contribute 16-17% of GDP of India. area and collected in a polyethene bag, then these NCBI reported cases of pesticides residue samples are carried to the laboratory, where they are accumulation in fodder crops and livestock products stored and tested (Ali et al., 2010). about 56.7% of the population in India engaged in Quechers method was used for analysis of agriculture and exposed to the pesticides used in pesticides residues in different vegetables samples. agriculture. TEST PROCEDURE Formula The concentration of pesticides residue were carried out by using following formula: Concentration of pesticides residues in ppm = × × × Final volume of sample (mL) where area of peak sample = as per chromatogram area of standard peak = as per the chromatogram final volume of sample = 3 mL Weight of sample = 1.0 gm/mL GC-ECD, GC- FPD, GC-MS and 0.25 gm/mL LC-MS

RESULT AND DISCUSSIONS

It clear from the results show in above tables that there are no pesticides residues of organochlorine and organophosphorous are found in tomato, brinjal and cauliflower. We know that most of the vegetables are found contaminated with different type of pesticides, because of to improve quality and DISPERSIVE SOLID PHASE CLEANUP productions of vegetables. 1114 PARIHAR ET AL
