The fund was established by community leaders to meet the needs of at-risk women and girls by creating opportunities for economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, and personal growth. The mission is to serve the current and changing needs of women and girls in Collier County through funding. In 2015, the Women’s Foundation of Collier County awarded $54,000 to Collier County nonprofit programs serving: SENIOR WOMEN - to support outreach to seniors and to address isolation and loneliness LEGAL NEEDS – to provide legal assistance to vulnerable seniors, women heads of households with children, and women and girls with disabilities ABUSE TREATMENT- to provide an emergency advocate for trafficking victims, and to deliver coordinated support from law enforcement and service agencies to victimized women and girls YOUNG LEADERS - to support the Junior Women of Initiative program that engages mentors to help at-risk teen girls develop life and leadership skills BREAST CANCER TREATMENT- to provide post breast cancer treatment to women who cannot afford it TEEN MOM SUPPORT – to provide childcare support to teen mothers who are pursuing education and workforce training. ABOUT POWER OF THE PURSE This event, now in its third year, encourages individuals to reach into their “purses” to donate to the Women’s Foundation of Collier County to help at-risk women and girls in Collier County, today and forever. The Women’s Foundation of Collier County’s nonprofit grants are announced . To date, she has presented her message to tens of thousands of students and parents alike in high schools, colleges, churches, local and national conventions and other venues, and to law enforcement officials, Attorney Generals, Mayors’ Conferences, professional associations, prayer breakfast and many others. As a New York Times Best Selling author (“Loving Natalee” also a Lifetime Movie) and a veteran educator, Beth continues to work on education the public on safer travel.     Board of Directors Sheriff Mike Hale Sheriff Mike Hale began his career in law enforcement 35 years ago at the Homewood Police Department in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1976, Hale was transferred to the Alabama Sheriff’s Office and has since served in every division of the Sheriff’s Office. Beth Holloway Beth Holloway is the mother of Natalee Holloway, a high school senior who went missing in Aruba in 2005 during a class trip. Natalee’s case remains unsolved and Beth has dedicated her life to helping others in similar circumstances. Since Natalee’s disappearance, she has created a traveling safe program which she presents to a variety of audiences nationwide. Johnny L. Hughes As a U.S Marshal, a position achievable only through Presidential appointment with the advice and consent of the U.S. Senate, Johnny L. Hughes effectively directs the activities for the districts in the state of Maryland. Among his many duties as a U.S. Marshal, Hughes is responsible for leading fugitive task forces, operating the Witness Security Program, and seizing property acquired by criminals through illegal activities. Prior to his appointment in 2002, Hughes was Director of High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Information Office. He also worked for the Maryland State Police from 1967 to 1996. He was awarded the United States Attorney General’s Special Commendation Award in 1993 and National Law Enforcement Council Achievement Award in 1992. Chris Jarrell Chris Jarrell serves as a Campus Pastor for the National Community Church (NCC) based in Washington, DC. At the time of her disappearance, Holloway lived in Mountain Brook, Alabama; she graduated from Mountain Brook High School on May 24, 2005, shortly before the trip.[4] Her disappearance caused a media sensation in the United States[5]. Holloway was scheduled to fly home on May 30, but she aroused suspicion when she failed to appear for her flight.[6] She was last seen by her classmates outside of Carlos'n Charlie's, a restaurant and nightclub in Oranjestad.[7] She was in a car with local residents Joran van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. When the three men were questioned, they said that they dropped off Holloway at her hotel and denied knowing what became of her.[8] Upon further investigation by authorities, Van der Sloot was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in her disappearance and the Kalpoes were each arrested three times.
