Combining dedicated players, college like promotion and 4-6 touches a week provides the program players what they need to accomplish their hockey goals in college and beyond. Why do you say Premier “Junior” like program? USA Hockey does not sanction any girls/women’s junior programs. Since this is a USA hockey rostered team we can not call it “Juniors” but it will be similar in look and feel to coed/boys junior programs. The Mission With the tremendous growth of girls hockey in the Carolinas and the southeast, the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes are committed to providing an elite junior development program that allows girls to develop on and off the ice while playing in the southeast and still pursue their dreams. The program will help propel athletes to reach their goals -- collegiately and beyond -- by putting them in a competitive, growth-minded and team-focused environment with access to high-level coaching, increased ice time, and a supportive academic environment. The start of the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes Premier Girls junior development program will positively change the landscape for thousands of female hockey players in the southeast and support the long-term growth of girls hockey in the region.     Design of Neck Protection Guards for Cricket Helmets T. Y. Pang a and P. Dabnichki School of Engineering, RMIT University, Bundoora Campus East, Bundoora VIC 3083, Australia Keywords: Cricket, Helmet, Neck, Guard, Design. Abstract: Cricket helmet safeguards have come under scrutiny due to the lack of protection at the basal skull and neck region, which resulted in the fatal injury of one Australian cricketer in 2014. Current cricket helmet design has a number of shortcomings, the major one being the lack of a neck guard. This paper introduces a novel neck protection guard that provides protection to a cricket helmet wearer’s head and neck, without restricting head movements and obstructing the airflow, but achieving a minimal weight. Adopting an engineering design approach, the concept was generated using computer aided design software. The design was performed through several iterative processes to achieve an optimal solution. A prototype was then created using rapid prototyping technology and tested experimentally to meet the objectives and design constraints. The experimental results showed that the novel neck protection guard reduced by more than 50% the head acceleration values in the drop test in accordance to Australian Standard AS/NZS 4499.1-3:1997 protective headgear for cricket. Further experimental and computer simulation analysis are recommended to select suitable materials for the neck guards with satisfactory levels of protection and impact-attenuation capabilities for users. 1 INTRODUCTION head and facial injuries (Ranson et al. 2013). Such equipment should include gloves, shin pads, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hip pads or padded hockey pants, protective cup, tendon pads plus all head protective equipment as required by USA Hockey rules. It is recommended that all protective equipment be designed specifically for ice hockey. HELMETS A hockey helmet’s primary purpose is to prevent a skull fracture, not a concussion. A skull fracture or other blunt impact can be dissipated across the shells and foams of a helmet, but a concussion occurs due to rotational forces. What this means is, if your head moves rapidly, such as in a whiplash situation, a concussion may occur even without any impact to the head. WARNING Ice hockey is a collision sport that is dangerous. Hockey helmets afford no protection from neck or spinal injury. Severe head, brain or spinal injuries including paralysis or death may occur despite using a hockey helmet. Youth athletes should wear youth helmets. All players, including goalkeepers are required to properly wear a Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC) approved helmet as designed by the manufacturer and with no alterations and chin strap properly fastened. All youth through college players, including goalkeepers, are required to wear full facial protection—wire cage, full shield or combination mask certified by HECC, plus any chin protection that accompanies the face mask.

Box 34005 17790 No. 10 Highway Surrey, British Columbia V3S 8C4 Cloverdale Minor Hockey Association Equipment Checks The following is a guideline for the proper fitting of hockey equipment. Some of it is common sense, some of it is mandated by the rules as set forth by Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and or PCAHA. Equipment should be checked periodically through the year. Check it for damage, missing part, as well as proper fit. HELMET The helmet should fit properly and be adjusted so it is snug. The front of the helmet should come about halfway down the forehead. It should not be able to move around unless the player moves their head. There should be no cracks in the shell. If there are, then get a new one. There must be a valid CSA sticker on the helmet. There should not be any stickers on the helmet unless they are specifically approved for application to a hockey helmet (such as provided by Hockey Canada). Believe it or not, the glue on the stickers can degrade the plastic. All straps must be in good shape and firmly fastened. The chin strap must be done up and snug enough that only a finger will fit between the strap and the chin. MASK The mask must be attached firmly. Check the clips that hold the mask to the helmet for cracks. The mask should be made for the helmet, preferably made by the same company that made the helmet as they tend to fit better as a package.

    ETLL 9AA League Rules Rev January 2013 ETLL - 9AA Rules The 9AA League emphasizes the basic skills of throwing, catching, base running, and hitting. Ten players per inning play defensively and all players bat in continuous order. Team standings are kept. Safety, competition, fun, skill development, sportsmanship, and respect for the game including respect for teammates, opponents, umpires and coaches are our objectives. 9AA uses a regulation “hard” baseball and player pitchers for the entire season. One goal of the league is to develop the pitching abilities of each player during the season and to create a situation where the player has a positive experience as they develop their pitching capabilities. Therefore, it is the expectation that each player will pitch at least one inning during the regular season. If a coach and parent agree that a player will not pitch at least once during the regular season, the coach must notify the League Director prior to June 10th. If any player has not pitched at least once during the regular season, and the League Director was not notified prior to June 10th, all games for that team after June 10 are subject to forfeit. Little League Baseball, Inc., headquartered in Williamsport, PA, publishes a handbook titled “Official Regulations and Playing Rules” which East Tonka Little League abides by.     EQUIPMENT SELECTION Goaltenders have unique equipment and many myths abound concerning sizing, selection and purchasing. The first thing I need to mention is the fact that a goaltender that develops a fear of the puck is almost impossible to "cure". Usually, improperly sized equipment and poor protection are the causes of this problem. The situation is difficult to discuss because equipment is so expensive and no one can afford to spend thousands of dollars every year. The goal is to find equipment, either new or used, that balances cost without sacrificing protection. I'll discuss more specifics as I talk about the different equipment. UNDERGARMENTS Most pro goaltenders wear pajama-like T-shirts and pants underneath their equipment. This is because they are comfortable, absorb sweat, permit free movement and keep the goaltender warm during lulls in the play. You should use clean clothing every game and practice to prevent the dreaded hockey rash. Not to mention the fact that you will have more friends! JOCKS AND JILLS Without a doubt the most important piece of equipment a goaltender wears is the jock (Female goaltenders have a corresponding piece usually called a “jill”). The jock should be worn tightly without restricting movement. The goaltender's jock is larger and more thickly padded than a forward's jock because of the obvious trauma it is designed to prevent. Sometimes you can't totally protect yourself; you can only minimize the pain. Many pro goalies wear a forward's jock and a goaltender's jock over that . GARTERBELT The best way to keep the hockey socks in place is to use a garter belt to securely hold them.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Does my child need to know how to skate? What skill level does my child need to have? Nashville Predators Hockey Schools are open to all skill levels. However, we highly recommend that beginners have basic skating ability to assist in their development at hockey school. We suggest contacting a rink near you to obtain information on skating programs. What equipment does my child need? Is rental equipment available? Participants will need to provide his/her own hockey equipment to participate. We are unable to provide rental equipment or skates. Necessary equipment includes a helmet with face mask, mouth guard, neck guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, protective hockey pants, athletic support cup, shin guards, hockey socks, skates, and stick. Goaltenders will need to provide full goalie equipment.     MH TRY GUY ICE HOCKEY GOALIE n intermittent wisp of vapour escapes my lips through the gaps of my helmet’s cage-like face protector as I shift around on the slippery ice. The energy in the skatingA rink is palpable – electrifying even – as the opposing players in yellow jerseys tus- sle with my team (clad in blue). In a fl ash, the hockey puck – a round, black piece of vulcanised (read: rock hard) rubber – lances diagonally across the rink, and a player in yellow swiftly picks it up, his body movement suddenly taking on an exaggerated side-to- side motion as he accelerates towards me, puck in tow. A defender rushes in to intercept him, but the yellow-jersey forward is quick, and cocks his stick back. The puck becomes invisible as it fl ies, and I drop to my knees and fl ail my arms. A loud “whoop-clack” announces that the black disc has hit my right arm’s blocker pad, and it subsequently clatters harmlessly off the hockey stick held on the same arm. “Good save!” yell the other players watching outside the rink as they thump the waist-high wall in encouragement. An incidental save, but I’m stoked from the rush. “Was that all you’ve got?” I think, as I clamber back onto my skates. I crouch and brace myself for the next onslaught. +++ +++ I’m at the Fuji Ice Palace in the Jurong Entertainment Complex donning a pair of ice-skates under the watchful eye of Alphonsus Jude Joseph, a 12-year ice hockey veteran.
