Cubed Circle Newsletter 201 – We're Not Dead Given the absence of a newsletter last week following our 200th issue the week prior new readers could be forgiven for thinking that we were on an unannounced extended hiatus. However, as long- time readers will know this newsletter, if anything, is vulnerable to technical difficulties, even ones as trivial as the loss of a laptop charger on holiday. However, after a week off not only are we back with a double issue featuring our last piece of G1 coverage, two weeks of NXT, Mid-South from 1982, and two weeks of RAW featuring Sting, but we also have the debut of a brand new column – the Pro-Wres Digest! The goal of the Digest is to encapsulate the week that was in pro-wrestling in 3-4 pages, providing a TL;DR of sorts for those unable to devote enough time to following every news story that breaks in a given week. – Ryan Clingman, Cubed Circle Newsletter Editor The Pro-Wres Digest for September 6th - 12th. Ben Carass. On Friday September 4th, John Cena was thought to have suffered an injury during a house show match with Kevin Owens in Hampton, VA. Amazingly, it wasn’t the springboard stunner that went wrong but another move John Cena should not be attempting, the code/infrared. Cena went for the move and Owens kind of just fell down on his chest; imagine an axe-guillotine driver but with Owens losing his balance too. When the report first broke, people were freaking out about Cena possibly suffering a neck injury, since they did stop the match for the referee to check on Cena and they went right to the finish after he was checked out.

SHOULD I PURCHASE NEW OR USED? There are obvious financial benefits to purchasing used or utilizing donated equipment. Today there are more options than ever to do that through retailers such as Play it Again Sports and web based marketplaces. In many cases the used equipment is perfectly fine and will suit your growing child’s needs (and your budget) very well. However, it is important to note that there have been significant advancements in hockey equipment in recent years which has resulted in safer, lighter weight and more comfortable equipment. With some products, specifically helmets, there are actually recommended expiration dates printed on the product itself since the materials degrade over time and may not provide the appropriate protection after that date.

  • Design of Neck Protection Guards for Cricket Helmets
Design of Neck Protection Guards for Cricket Helmets T. Y. Pang a and P. Dabnichki School of Engineering, RMIT University, Bundoora Campus East, Bundoora VIC 3083, Australia Keywords: Cricket, Helmet, Neck, Guard, Design. Abstract: Cricket helmet safeguards have come under scrutiny due to the lack of protection at the basal skull and neck region, which resulted in the fatal injury of one Australian cricketer in 2014. Current cricket helmet design has a number of shortcomings, the major one being the lack of a neck guard. This paper introduces a novel neck protection guard that provides protection to a cricket helmet wearer’s head and neck, without restricting head movements and obstructing the airflow, but achieving a minimal weight. Adopting an engineering design approach, the concept was generated using computer aided design software. The design was performed through several iterative processes to achieve an optimal solution. A prototype was then created using rapid prototyping technology and tested experimentally to meet the objectives and design constraints. The experimental results showed that the novel neck protection guard reduced by more than 50% the head acceleration values in the drop test in accordance to Australian Standard AS/NZS 4499.1-3:1997 protective headgear for cricket. Further experimental and computer simulation analysis are recommended to select suitable materials for the neck guards with satisfactory levels of protection and impact-attenuation capabilities for users. 1 INTRODUCTION head and facial injuries (Ranson et al. 2013). Stretch (2000) conducted an experiment on six different Cricket helmets were introduced into the sport to helmets with different features and materials at three protect the head and face of batsman when a bowler different locations.

Revisions to the policy and its publication were approved by Full Council on the 9 December 2020. This revised Policy is operative from 7 January 2021. Document title: Statement of Licensing Policy Version: 6 Date: 7 January 2021 Produced by: City of Westminster Innovation and Change Westminster City Hall 64 Victoria Street SW1E 6QP 02 | STATEMENT OF LICENSING POLICY 2021 | | | | | | | | | | Foreword Westminster is at the heart of London’s diverse hospitality and visitor economy. Our world-leading theatres and restaurants offer unique experiences that attract visitors from across the globe. In March 2020, Westminster had over 3,700 venues licensed under the Licensing Act 2003. This Statement of Licensing Policy sets out how the council will continue to promote our licensing objectives whilst protecting residential amenity and supporting businesses. The council has been active in supporting businesses in acknowledgement of the devastating impact of coronavirus on the entertainment and hospitality sector. We also changed the approach we took to this review of our Licensing Policy. In order to avoid placing additional restrictions on businesses and ensure that there is regulatory certainty for venues, we have decided not to implement the findings of the Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) in full, and to continue with the existing policy approach where possible.

  • Ice Hockey Fitting Guide
Ice Hockey Equipment Fitting Guide - Fit to Play the Right Way Brought to you by: coachsafely.org www.helmetfitting.com follow us @coachsafely and @Helmetfitting All material copyright: CoachSafely Foundation and Helmetfitting.com YOUTH AGE GROUPS: 8-and-Under (mite), 10-and-Under (squirt), 12-and-Under (peewee), 14-and-Under (bantam) Each player is personally responsible to wear protective equipment for all games, warm-ups and practices. Such equipment should include gloves, shin pads, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hip pads or padded hockey pants, protective cup, tendon pads plus all head protective equipment as required by USA Hockey rules. It is recommended that all protective equipment be designed specifically for ice hockey. HELMETS A hockey helmet’s primary purpose is to prevent a skull fracture, not a concussion. A skull fracture or other blunt impact can be dissipated across the shells and foams of a helmet, but a concussion occurs due to rotational forces. What this means is, if your head moves rapidly, such as in a whiplash situation, a concussion may occur even without any impact to the head. WARNING Ice hockey is a collision sport that is dangerous. Hockey helmets afford no protection from neck or spinal injury. Severe head, brain or spinal injuries including paralysis or death may occur despite using a hockey helmet. Youth athletes should wear youth helmets. All players, including goalkeepers are required to properly wear a Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC) approved helmet as designed by the manufacturer and with no alterations and chin strap properly fastened. All youth through college players, including goalkeepers, are required to wear full facial protection—wire cage, full shield or combination mask certified by HECC, plus any chin protection that accompanies the face mask.

Cloverdale Minor www.cloverdaleminorhockey.com Hockey Association P.O. Box 34005 17790 No. 10 Highway Surrey, British Columbia V3S 8C4 Cloverdale Minor Hockey Association Equipment Checks The following is a guideline for the proper fitting of hockey equipment. Some of it is common sense, some of it is mandated by the rules as set forth by Hockey Canada, BC Hockey and or PCAHA. Equipment should be checked periodically through the year. Check it for damage, missing part, as well as proper fit. HELMET The helmet should fit properly and be adjusted so it is snug. The front of the helmet should come about halfway down the forehead. It should not be able to move around unless the player moves their head. There should be no cracks in the shell. If there are, then get a new one. There must be a valid CSA sticker on the helmet. There should not be any stickers on the helmet unless they are specifically approved for application to a hockey helmet (such as provided by Hockey Canada). Believe it or not, the glue on the stickers can degrade the plastic. All straps must be in good shape and firmly fastened. The chin strap must be done up and snug enough that only a finger will fit between the strap and the chin. MASK The mask must be attached firmly. Check the clips that hold the mask to the helmet for cracks. The mask should be made for the helmet, preferably made by the same company that made the helmet as they tend to fit better as a package.

2014 was a unique year for pro-wrestling, one that will undoubtedly be viewed as historically significant in years to follow. Whether it is to be reflected upon positively or negatively is not only highly subjective, but also context-specific with major occurrences transpiring across the pro-wrestling world over the last 12 months, each with its own strong, and at times far reaching, consequences. The WWE launched its much awaited Network, New Japan continued to expand, CMLL booked lucha's biggest match in well over a decade, culminating in the country's first million dollar gate, TNA teetered more precariously on the brink of death than perhaps ever before, Daniel Bryan won the WWE's top prize, Dragon Gate and DDT saw continued success before their loyal niche audiences, Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk departed the WWE with one ending up in the most unexpected of places, a developing and divergent style produced some of the best indie matches of the year, the European scene flourished, the Shield disbanded, Batista returned, Daniel Bryan relinquished his championship, and the Undertaker's streak came to an unexpected and dramatic end. These are but some of the happenings, which made 2014 the year that it was, and it is in this year-book that we look to not only recap all of these events and more, but also contemplate their relevance to the greater pro-wrestling landscape, both for 2015 and beyond.
