Herbert George Barrett, son of George Barrett and Harriet Fitzgerald, was born on 7 Apr 1884 in Lily Dale, Tasmania, died on 29 Nov 1963 in Long Jetty, New South Wales, Australia at age 79, and was buried on 30 Nov 1963 in Ronkana Cemetry, Berkley Vale, Wyong, NSW. The cause of his death was Natural/Old Age. General Notes: Herbert and Ethel Barrett spent their holidays at the North Entrance. At that time a Herbert was a Fire Protection Engineer in Sydney, he later installed a sprinkler system in Carsons Timber Mill at Yarramalong. They both enjoyed country living and so decided to purchase a dairy. They considered two properties, Mr Shaws dairy where the Long Jetty Hospital is to-day and MacSmiths Jersey Stud at Berkeley Vale. They chose Berkeley Vale, and also purchased a block on the other side of Berkeley Road near where the High School is to-day. They called the property "Palmgrove" because of the large number of Cabbage tree Palms growing on the flats, The home is still standing and is now under Heritage Listing. 1934 Herbert George Barrett (1934) Herbert kept his business in Sydney for some time leaving Monday and returning Friday, driving his Willy's Knight. Ethel and his three girls, still at home stayed looking forward to the weekends andmany visitors. The Jersey Stud was left in the capable hands of seventeen year old Arch Poile and other help. Herbert sold his business and then decided to sub-divide some road frontage of his property and plan a village, shop and church. Several houses were soon built, the electricity came on and the Berleley Road was tarred. He served on the board of the Milk Factory, was made a life member of the Agricultural Society, he worked for the Ambulance, was a keen worker for the church and Masonic Lodges, he was also interested in the development of Wyong, such as Tourism, Moonray Knitting Mills and Mining. He passed away aged eighty in 1963. Ethel stayed on at Palmgrove, a keen gardener and church goer, her flowers graced churches for services and weddings. Her home made butter, bread, scones etc. She took out the top prizes for many years at the Wyong Show. She passed away in 1980. Both are buried at Ronkana, a little cemetery they helped bring into being Noted events in his life were: • Herbert served in the military in 1915: Australian General Hospital - 1 to 6 and Special Reinforcements (February 1915 - April 1916). • Photo: Grandparent Barretts 50th • Photo: HERB EDIE (1935) Produced by Legacy Ancestors of Herbert George Barrett 6 • Photo: 1934 EDIE MOON (1934) • Photo: herbert barrett 1903 (1903) • Photo: The Barrett Family (1955) • Photo: Herbert George Barrett Produced by Legacy Ancestors of Herbert George Barrett 7 Herbert married Ethel Elizabeth Clara Housego, daughter of John Housego Jr. and Lydia "Lily" Smith, on 23 Apr 1908 in Waratah, Tasmania..

A Few Good Christian Books Online The following book links represent a compilation of Christian books available at no charge on the internet. You will note that there are a number of Christian biographies which in my opinion, other than the Scripture itself, are an especially rich source of encouragement in how to live the practical, everyday Christian life. If you know of other biographies available on the web, please send the link and they will be posted to for the edification of the body of Christ. Thank you in advance. Remember that I have not read every resource on this page, so if you find a work that you feel is questionable and specifically does not square with Scripture, as a good Berean, please email your concern and the work will be examined and removed if found to be Scripturally unbalanced or unorthodox. Although the "vitality" of the resource links is checked periodically, it is very difficult to keep a few dead links from sneaking in because web sites either change their addresses or go "off the air" altogether. Words such as community, integrity, change, and challenge were mentioned. We continued to brainstorm until we found a theme that encompassed each person's experience at Taylor. We come from many different communities. We have many different expectations and many different goals. We have different fears, different tastes, different reactions, and different interests. But we all have ONE com- mon denominator: we are sons and daughters of Christ. We have a Father who loves, touches, speaks to, comforts, and teaches each of us in different ways.
