Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes This Summer Is a Critical Moment in London’S Football History
Culture, Sport and Tourism Away from home Scrutiny of London’s Football Stadiums June 2003 Culture, Sport and Tourism Away from home Scrutiny of London’s Football Stadiums June 2003 copyright Greater London Authority June 2003 Published by Greater London Authority City Hall The Queen’s Walk London SE1 2AA www.london.gov.uk enquiries 020 7983 4100 minicom 020 7983 4458 ISBN 1 85261 496 1 Cover photograph credit EMPICS Sports Photo Agency This publication is printed on recycled paper Chair’s Foreword The move by Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes this summer is a critical moment in London’s football history. This move prompted the London Assembly’s Culture, Sport and Tourism committee to look into the issue of redevelopment for London clubs. With Fulham and Brentford yet to secure new stadiums for their clubs and question marks remaining over Arsenal’s and Tottenham’s grounds the issue is a live one. We do not want to see more clubs leave London. During the 2002/03 season about 5 million fans watched professional football in London. In addition, hundreds of thousands of Londoners participate every year in club sponsored community projects and play football. This report seeks to ensure that this added value isn’t lost to Londoners. We did not set out to judge local situations but to tease out lessons learnt by London football clubs. Football is more than just a business: the ties that a club has with its area and the fans that live or come from there are great. We recommend that more clubs have supporters on their board and applaud the work of Supporters Direct in rejuvenating the links between clubs and their fan base. -

CASE ANALYSIS of SPECIAL STATUS of DELHI (GOVERNMENT of NCT of DELHI VS UNION of INDIA) Abhishek Jain Student, Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida
CASE ANALYSIS OF SPECIAL STATUS OF DELHI (GOVERNMENT OF NCT OF DELHI VS UNION OF INDIA) Abhishek Jain Student, Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida BACKGROUND OF THE CASE The Administrative head of the National Capital Territory government is the Chief Minister. The Court said that Chief Minister is the Executive head of Delhi Government not the Lieutenant Governor (LG). The role of Lieutenant Governor is that to help and advice the Council of Ministers related to all matters like Violence, shortage, emergency and so on. And only the Delhi Assembly has the power to make laws. The Bench of five Judges on July 4, 2018 said that only the Chief Minister is the Executive head of the National Capital Territory (NCT). The Five Judges are: 1. Chief Justice of India Deepak Mishra 2. Justice Kumar Sikri 3. Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar 4. Justice DY Chandrachud 5. Justice Ashok Bhushan The scuffle between the Chief Minister of Delhi and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi lead to a legal dispute on the status of the National Capital Territory. The issues revolve around the administrative powers of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in the light of the special status of Delhi as a Union Territory. The Delhi High Court previously heard the issues in this case in 2015 because there was a conflict between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Retired Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung over various matters. Some of the matters are: Appointment of Chief Secretary without referringtheLieutenant Governor, and the Chief Minister instituting corruption enquiries without the Lieutenant Governor’s concurrence. The misunderstanding was arises due to the special status of Delhi. -

[94331] The House met at half-past Ten o’clock The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport (John Penrose): The latest version of the Gambling Commission’s six-monthly PRAYERS industry statistics was published in December 2011. It showed that the number of category B2 gaming [MR SPEAKER in the Chair] machines—fixed odds betting terminals, or FOBTs, as they are sometimes known—in operation in Great Britain as at 31 March 2011 was 32,007. Oral Answers to Questions Mr Foster: I am most grateful to the Minister for that answer. The FOBTs he refers to, through which punters can lose £100 a spin or £18,000 a year, have been described as the crack cocaine of gambling. As he said, CULTURE, MEDIA AND SPORT numbers are exploding: some 32,000 such machines are in easily accessed high street betting shops, yet the The Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media evidence shows that they are causing real damage to and Sport was asked— individuals and families, including some of the poorest people in our communities. -
Shri Najeeb Jung, LG of Delhi to Inaugurate an Exhibition of Paintings & Drawings at Jamia
October 1, 2013 Press Release: Shri Najeeb Jung, LG of Delhi to inaugurate an exhibition of Paintings & Drawings at Jamia Shri Najeeb Jung, Hon.’ble Lieutenant Governor of NCT of Delhi is going to inaugurate an Exhibition of Paintings and Drawings called “Event Horizon” by Prof Pankaj Sharan at Jamia Millia Islamia. The exhibition will be inaugurated on October 3, 2013 at 11.30 AM in M.F. Husain Art Gallery, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi which will be on view till October 5, 2013. Shri Najeeb Jung, Hon.’ble Lieutenant Governor of NCT of Delhi shall be the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Function of the Exhibition and he will also address the audience on this occasion. Prof. S.M. Sajid, Offg. Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia shall preside over the Inaugural Function of the Exhibition. Prof. Pankaj Sharan is a theoretical physicist who has worked at Jamia Millia Islamia for the last 32 years. He has been drawing and painting since very early age. At one time, he toyed with the idea of switching to painting full-time in the late 1970’s. But, as he says, at that time, the future of a theoretical physicist was marginally more certain than that of a painter. Prof. Pankaj Sharan’s work is mainly in three categories: landscapes, portraits and human figures. The landscapes, real, semi-abstract or abstract are in all the mediums, oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, graphite or charcoal. Many landscapes are marine in nature, with a strong horizontal line. But a number of works depict houses and trees, and a few have hills. -
Transcript for Culture, Sport and Tourism Meeting on 1 April 2003
Item 4 Appendix D Transcript for Culture, Sport and Tourism meeting on 1 April 2003. Chair: Welcome to this meeting of the London Assembly Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee. I’m Meg Hillier, the Chair of the Committee, and I’m joined by my colleagues Len Duvall and Mike Tuffrey. Danny Myers is the Committee Scrutiny Manager and Saba Master is the Committee Administrator. This is our second enquiry into the future of football stadia in London. Chair: There are nine witnesses here this evening; three from London’s football clubs, three from supporters trusts and supporters, and four from residents’ groups. Thank you very much for coming. Charles Koppel, please briefly outline why you saw the only future for Wimbledon FC to move to Milton Keynes? Charles Koppel: We did a considerable amount of work over a long period of time to find alternate locations for the club. A lot of that was done in partnership with Merton council, looking at sites within Merton. We also contacted approximately 35 other boroughs in and around South London and we appointed a leading planning and property firm to undertake a research report on our behalf. After all that came back with no options we realised we needed to look elsewhere. The Milton Keynes opportunity came along and we felt it appropriate to pursue it. Chair: You spent 12 years without a ground. How far a field were you prepared to go out of London? Charles Koppel: I’ve only been at the club for three years so I can’t speak for the previous nine, but it was a big issue for the club. -

My Autobiography
F SOLID GOLD MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY The Ultimate Rags to Riches Tale Forward by Robin Pilley David Gold, Chairman of Ann Summers, Gold Group International and West Ham United, is a man who has risen from humble and poverty stricken beginnings and achieved a status in life beyond what even he could have ever envisaged. Born an East End Jewish cockney lad, he was at the very bottom of life’s social strata. After a childhood characterised by war, poverty and disease he set out to change his life, and in the process he also changed the lives of everyone close to him. He understands and embraces the importance of change. He also changed the fortunes of his beloved football club, developed an iconic brand in Ann Summers and was influential in liberating the sexual behavior of the great British public. Now, Gold brings his unparalleled ability for change to his inspirational autobiography. This completely reworked edition, ‘The Ultimate Rags to Riches Tale’, focuses more on his personality, his remarkable business achievements, his life- affirming story and his reflections and recollections on a world that changed beyond recognition within his own lifetime. And most importantly, he speaks candidly about how he softened the British stiff upper lip and almost single-handedly brought sex onto the UK’s high streets and changed our sex lives for the better. No one has done more to prove that dreams can come true and now you can read his exceptional autobiography exclusively written to show just 2 what one man can achieve from the most humble beginnings.
