Before starting the meeting, Mr. Armen Bagdasarov, President of Judo Federation of Uzbekistan, and Director, JUA; welcomed all JUA EC Members by presenting momentous. He also expressed his sincere thanks to all the members for visiting Uzbekistan and their support for the successful conduct of the Asian Judo Championships 2016. Further Mr. Obaid Al-Anzi, President, JUA requested Mr. Mukesh Kumar, General Secretary, JUA to proceed as per the agenda points. Mr. Mukesh Kumar, General Secretary, JUA thanked Mr. Obaid Al-Anzi and requested all the members to consider the Agenda Points and other details given in the meeting folder. Meeting proceeds with the following agenda points. 1] To approve the minutes of the JUA EC Meeting held on 10th May 2015 & JUA Congress held on 11th May 2015, at Kuwait Mr. Kumar informed that the Draft Minutes of the JUA EC Meeting held on 10th May 2015 and Congress held on 11th May 2015, has already been circulated be email. The final minutes of both the above meeting with the necessary corrections and modifications is placed in the meeting folder, for the approval. Decision: The minutes of the JUA EC Meeting held on 10th May 2015 & JUA Congress held on 11th May 2015, at Kuwait, were approved. 2] To discuss about the preparations of the Asian Judo Championships – 2016, Tashkent Mr. Armen Bagdasarov, President, Judo Federation of Uzbekistan, gave a detailed presentation of the daily program of the AJC and also briefed all the members about the other preparations of the AJC. 3] To discuss about the preparations of the 10th Asian Cadet & 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships – 2016, Kochi, India: Mr. Mukesh Kumar, informed the EC Members that as decided earlier the 10th Asian Cadet & 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships 2016 will be held from 6th to 12th September 2016 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi ( Cochin ), Kerala, India. He also informed that the JUA Refereeing Seminar & IJF Continental Referee Examination also be held in conjunction with the Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championships at Kochi. Minutes of JUA Executive Committee Meeting, 13th April 2016 TASHKENT 2 4] To discuss and finalize the JUA events for the year 2016 – 2017: i] Request letter received from National Judo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, for the Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championships – 2017 Mr. Mukesh Kumar informed that we have received a request from the National Judo Federation of Kyrgyz Republic, for conducting the Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championships in the year 2017 at Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The representatives of National Judo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, gave a power point presentation explaining the Venue, Hotel, Transportation arrangements for conducting the events from 10th to 16th October 2017 at Bishkek. However it was requested to hold this in the earlier month. Decision: All members of appreciated the presentation, and allotted the 11th Asian Cadet & 18th Asian Junior Judo Championships 2017 to National Judo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic. ii] Asian Kata Judge Seminar, Exam. & JUA Kata Judo Championships – 2016 & 2017 Mr. Mukesh Kumar informed that so far, we have not received any requests for holding the Asian Kata Judge Seminar, Exam. and JUA Kata Judo Championships for the year 2016 – 2017. He further requested Mr. Mohd. Derakhshan, Head. Director, JUA Education & Kata to look into the matter and follow-up to finalize the events. iii] JUA Refereeing Seminar & Examinations – 2016 – 2017 Mr. Takao Kawaguchi, Head Refereeing Director, JUA; informed that the first JUA Refereeing Seminar and IJF Continental Referee Examination will be held with Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championships 2016 at Kochi, India. The second JUA Referee Seminar and IJF Continental Referee Exam. of the year 2016 is yet to be finalized. iv] JUA Organizing Expert and Examinations – 2016 – 2017 Mr. Che Kuong Hon, Head Sports Director, JUA; informed that the JUA Organising and Expert Examination will be held in July 2016. v] JUA Coaching, Education and Kata Seminar 2016 - 2017 Mr. Mohd. Derakhshan, Head Education and Kata Director, JUA; informed that the JUA Coaching, Education and Kata Seminar for the year 2016, is yet to be finalized, as there is no request form any JUA members for holding the event. Mr. Armen Bagdasarov, suggested that the Coaching and Kata Seminar can be conducted just before the Asian Senior Judo Championships, which will also be beneficial for the senior judokas. Minutes of JUA Executive Committee Meeting, 13th April 2016 TASHKENT 3 Mr. Obaid Al-Anzi appreciated the suggestion of Mr. Armen Bagdasarov, and in consultation with other EC members, it is decided to conduct the Coaching and Kata Seminar before the Asian Judo Championships – 2017, Hong Kong. vi] Review of Asian Senior Judo Championships – 2017: Hong Kong Mr. Pui Kwan Kay, Chairman, Judo Federation of Hong Kong, China; informed that the necessary preparations have been made for the Asian Judo Championships 2017, and more details will be intimated well in time. 5] Report of JUA EC : I] Report of President, JUA Mr. Obaid Al-Anzi, President, JUA; once again welcomed all the members and informed that JUA has successfully conducted JUA Congress, EC Meetings, Senior Asian, Cadet & Junior Asian, Kata Championships, Seminars and Examinations and IJF events in our region. Further Mr. Obaid given a power point presentation on the following events held during the period from May to December 2015: 13 ~ 14, May 2015: : Asian Senior Judo Championships - Kuwait 15 May 2015: : Asian Senior Judo Team Championships - Kuwait 25 ~ 26, July 2015: : Asian Open - Taipei 8 ~ 13, Sept. 2015: : JUA Referee Seminar & IJF Continental Referee Examinations. - Bishkek 6 ~ 10, Oct. 2015 : JUA Referee Seminar & IJF Continental Referee Examinations. - Bangkok 9 ~ 10, October 2015: 9th Asian Cadet Judo Championships - Bangkok 11 ~ 12, October 2015: 16th Asian Junior Judo Championships - Bangkok 23 ~ 27, Oct. 2015: World Junior Judo Championships - Abu-Dhabi 11 Dec. 2015: Asian Kata Judo Championships - Bangkok 16 ~ 19, Dec. 2015: Kata Seminar & Judge Examinations - Bangkok While concluding his report Mr. Obaid informed that the next election of the President, International Judo Federation will be held in 2017, and requested all members to support to the candidature of Mr. Marius VIZER, for the IJF President. All members agreed to give full support for the next election of Mr. Vizer as IJF President. II] Report of Vice – President, South East Zone : Mr. Hassaboddin, President, South East Zone submitted his report mentioning the activities of South East Zone during 2014 – 2016. Minutes of JUA Executive Committee Meeting, 13th April 2016 TASHKENT 4 - 2014 Thailand International Judo North University Championships on 30th – 31st August 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand. - 2014 Singapore Adidas All Comers Judo Championships on 22nd – 23rd August 2014 in Singapore. - 4th Asian Judo Kata Championships 2014 on 6th – 9th Nov. 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand. - JUA Kata Seminar - JUA Referee Examination - 2015 South East Asia Games ( Sea Games ) on 6th – 8th June 2015 in Singapore - 19th Asian Cadet & 16th Junior Judo Championships 2015 on 8th – 12th October 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. - JUA Referee Seminar - IJF International and Continental Referee Examination - 2015 Vietnam International Judo Championships on 15th – 19th Oct. 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City. - 2015 – 5th Asian Judo Kata Championships on 16th – 20th Dec. 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand - JUA Referee Seminar - JUA Referee Examination - 2016 Thailand International Judo North Nangkok University Championships on 30th – 31st July 2016, Bangkok, Thailand. III] Report of Vice – President, West Zone : Mr. Sameer Sadeq, President, West Zone explained that the current problems and impact of insecurity situation has adversely effected the Judo activities in the West Zone. He expressed that the security situation will improve in our region soon and we further improve the practice of Judo activities and to prevail the peace in the region. IV] Report of Vice – President, South Zone Col. Sujaat Ali Rana, Vice President, South Zone could not attend the meeting due to some unavoidable circumstance. His report will be considered in the next meeting. V] Report of Vice – President, Central Zone : Mr. Myktybekov Maratbek, Vice President, Central Zone, informed that, our zone is regularly organizing JUA/IJF International Judo events every year. This year Asian Judo Championships is being organized in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Judo Grand Prix at Almaty, Kazakhstan, in the month of May 2016. VI] Report of Vice – President, East Zone : Mr. Lu Wei-Chen, President, East Zone has informed his inability to attend the meeting due to illness. The report of the President, East Zone will be considered in the next meeting.

    Philippine Sports History Articles Collection Compiled by Andrew Pirie ATFS Statistician Articles by Various Writers Baguio Teacher's Camp & History of Sports Baguio BAGUIO TEACHERS CAMP As I intend to head to the teachers camp this weekend I have done some background research into the camp as I was curious as how old it really is and as a fledgling historian I wanted to know a bit about its background. Here is what I found. The link to the full article is below I have just picked out the important parts. Teachers’ Camp opened its doors for its first season on April 6, and closed on May 30, 1908. A total of 217 adults and 24 children attended the camp. Lecturers were invited from universities and government offices from both the Philippines and the United States. There were regular lectures on General Anthropology and General Ethnology, Genetic Psychology and Present Day Educational Tendencies, Government of the United States and Contemporaneous Problems in Government, Heredity and Spanish. *From reading this they had a variety of higher level courses offered at the beginning of the 20th Century in a transitional period for the Filipino people. Teacher's Camp Fortunately, it was not all academic in Teachers’ Camp. Teachers’ Camp was also a vacation resort for teachers. The Camp successfully addressed a problem most American educators had while working in the Philippines: American educators did not have an easy time working here in the country. In most cases, these foreigners were assigned to schools where there weren't any other Americans for miles.

    Chapter 20 Recreation, Sport, Culture and the Arts Hong Kong offers no lack of sports, cultural and recreational opportunities for its hard-working populace. The wide variety of activities, ranging from international sports and arts events to community programmes, leaves people of all ages and abilities spoilt for choice. The Home Affairs Bureau coordinates government policies on recreation, sports, culture and heritage. Organisations such as the Sports Commission and Hong Kong Arts Development Council help the government draw up these policies. The Sports Commission advises on all matters relating to sports development and oversees committees on community sports, elite sports and major sports events. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), an executive arm of the bureau, provides services to preserve Hong Kong’s cultural heritage, enhance its physical environment, and foster cooperative interaction between sports, cultural and community organisations. The department also organises exhibitions, sporting events and cultural performances. Recreation and Sports The department develops and coordinates the provision of quality recreational and sports facilities for leisure enjoyment, including parks, landscaped open spaces, sports grounds, playgrounds, sports centres, holiday camps, water sports centres, swimming pools and beaches. It also organises and supports a wide variety of recreational and sports programmes to promote community sports, identify sporting talent and raise sporting standards. It works closely with the District Councils, the National Sports Associations under the auspices of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, District Sports Associations and schools to promote sport for all. In 2017, some 940,000 people took part in activities organised at 24 holiday camps and sea activity centres run by 11 non-governmental organisations subvented by the LCSD.

Thus far, there have been no studies on judo injuries sustained by students while participating in physical education classes. Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the profile of injuries among physical education judo students and identify whether age and sex correlate with injuries. Approach: Male (n = 273) and female (n = 327) college students, with a mean age of 18.49 years (±1.82) and who took judo as a PE class, were surveyed retrospectively. The injury rates are expressed per 1000 athlete-exposures. Results: There were a total of 180 injuries, at a rate of 9.4 per 1000 athlete-exposures (95% CI: 8.00 – 10.70), which were reported by PE judo students from 2011 to 2016.

Each National Federation must be recognized as the sole federation authorized to represent its country in international sporting bodies by its Olympic Committee, which itself is duly recognized by the International Olympic Committee or Olympic Council of Asia. These Judo Union of Asia will implement the policy of the International Judo Federation towards Judo diffusion. Judo was created in 1882 by Professor Jigoro Kano. As an educational method derived from the martial arts, judo became an official Olympic sport in 1964 (after being named as a demonstration sport at the 1940 Tokyo Olympic Games which were cancelled due to international conflict). Judo is a highly codified sport in which the mind controls the expression of the body and is a sport which contributes to educating individuals.
