Bring a picnic blanket and a hamper of food and drink. However, be aware that there will be huge crowds at these sites, which means lots of crowded trains, on-the-spot karaoke, food vendors galore and the occasional partier who’s had too much to drink. It’s worth it and part of the fun. The cherry blossom season lasts only a week or two, from the end of March through to mid-April. Don’t wait for a weekend – rain can play havoc with Cherry blossom viewing your plans. Get out as soon as you can!
