THE AMERICAN ADVERTISING AWARDS NEW MEXICO Saturday, February 29, 2020 Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown American Advertising Federation New Mexico | American Advertising Awards 2020 | View winners on YOUTUBE: AAFNM 2020 ADDYS 1 GRACIOUS THANK YOU TO 2600 Louisiana Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87110 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE The American Advertising Awards committee is always challenged with developing a theme for the show. There’s a few that almost all clubs have run through – a specific decade, masquerade, circus,Mad Men, The Wizard of Oz, etc. This year’s committee got double dipped. How do you pick an amazing theme while honoring the past, celebrating the club’s 60th anniversary? Inspired by the year 2020, this year’s theme centers around hindsight. See what we did there? The adage that hindsight is 2020 may be cliché, but it’s true. We’re gathered here tonight because we have consistently learned from and have been inspired by those that came before us. Our former leaders had a vision for this club, this community, this industry that have led us this far. We continually learn from great leaders, tremendous local agencies, brilliant marketing minds and clever creative innovators. AAF New Mexico thrives by connecting the past to the future with programs that honor past Silver Medal winners, professionals currently in the field and students just starting their journey. We’re thrilled to recognize the achievement of our collective history while we celebrate another great year of outstanding creative work. May the individuals and work showcased here tonight be celebrated in another 60 years! Cheers, Elizabeth Also, a special thank you to our sponsors. -

Brooklyn, NY/Aug 7, 2013—From Friday, August 30 through Thursday, September 5, BAMcinématek presents a week-long run of Robert Clouse’s Enter the Dragon, screening in a new DCP restoration for its 40th anniversary. In conjunction with the release of Wong Kar-wai’s Ip Man biopic The Grandmaster, this series revels in the lightning-fast moves of the revered kung fu tradition known as wing chun, featuring a five-film sidebar of martial arts rarities. Passed on through generations of martial artists, wing chun was popularized by icons like Sammo Hung and Ip’s movie-star disciple Bruce Lee—and has become an action movie mainstay. The first Chinese martial arts movie to be produced by a major Hollywood studio, Clouse’s Enter the Dragon features Bruce Lee in his final role before his untimely death (just six days before the film’s theatrical release). Shaolin master Mr. Lee (Lee) is recruited to infiltrate the island of sinister crime lord Mr. Han by going undercover as a competitor in a kung fu tournament. -

Full Press Release
IMTA ALUM ELIAS HARGER LIVES IN A FULLER HOUSE IMTA Press Release February 25, 2016 “Fuller House” will be available to stream on Netflix Friday, February 26th “Elias is going to blow people away. That kid is going to be a breakout star. He's really, really funny, doing jokes and rhythms I have never seen out of a little kid before.” – Jeff Franklin, “Fuller House” Writer/Executive Producer For fans of the classic TV sitcom “Full House” that ran from 1987-1995, the wait for the spin-off series is finally over. “Fuller House,” which will stream on Netflix beginning February 26, is not a reboot of the original series, but a chance to catch up with the characters several years later. Child stars of “Full House”—Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweeten and Andrea Barber—are reprising their roles as D.J. Tanner, Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler respectively, but they are now adults with children of their own. One of D.J.’s children is “neurotic 7-year-old Max” who is being played by IMTA alum Elias Harger. “The live taping nights were very exciting because there's a lot of dancing and music,” Harger told People Magazine. “Filming the show was fun because I got to make a lot of friends.” Harger, who came to IMTA with Fogg Management in Denver, was LA14’s Child Actor of the Year and Most Sought Male Talent. He already has several commercials, short films and stage credits on his résumé. “Fuller House” is his first series, but he is even now mindful of being a child actor in Hollywood. -
“Why So Serious?” Comics, Film and Politics, Or the Comic Book Film As the Answer to the Question of Identity and Narrative in a Post-9/11 World
ABSTRACT “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD by Kyle Andrew Moody This thesis analyzes a trend in a subgenre of motion pictures that are designed to not only entertain, but also provide a message for the modern world after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The analysis provides a critical look at three different films as artifacts of post-9/11 culture, showing how the integration of certain elements made them allegorical works regarding the status of the United States in the aftermath of the attacks. Jean Baudrillard‟s postmodern theory of simulation and simulacra was utilized to provide a context for the films that tap into themes reflecting post-9/11 reality. The results were analyzed by critically examining the source material, with a cultural criticism emerging regarding the progression of this subgenre of motion pictures as meaningful work. “WHY SO SERIOUS?” COMICS, FILM AND POLITICS, OR THE COMIC BOOK FILM AS THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF IDENTITY AND NARRATIVE IN A POST-9/11 WORLD A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Miami University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Department of Communications Mass Communications Area by Kyle Andrew Moody Miami University Oxford, Ohio 2009 Advisor ___________________ Dr. Bruce Drushel Reader ___________________ Dr. Ronald Scott Reader ___________________ Dr. David Sholle TABLE OF CONTENTS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS ..........................................................................................................................
