Pola Distribusi dan Biomassa Gastropoda di Perairan Sedati, Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur. Dosen Pembimbing Utama Yudi Cahyoko, Ir., M.Si. dan Dosen Pembimbing Serta Luthfiana Aprilianita Sari, S.Pi., M.Si. Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara kepulauan yang mempunyai wilayah laut dan perairan sebesar 75%. Indonesia memiliki kekayaan begitu besar untuk moluska yang salah satunya gastropoda (siput laut). Perairan Sedati merupakan salah satu wilayah pesisir Kabupaten Sidoarjo yang memiliki potensi sumberdaya moluska berupa siput laut. Penangkapan moluska tanpa memikirkan keberadaan moluska dapat menyebabkan penurunan populasi moluska yang dapat mempengaruhi pola distribusi dan biomassanya dalam perairan. Pola distribusi dan biomassa gastropoda pada suatu perairan ditentukan oleh lingkungan abiotik, biotik dan toleransi gastropoda terhadap masing-masing faktor lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola distribusi dan biomassa gastropoda di perairan Sedati, Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi dengan analisis deskriptif. Penentuan titik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Sedangkan pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode Stratified Random Sampling. Parameter utama yang diamati adalah indeks distribusi (Id), indeks kepadatan (Q) dan indeks biomassa (B). Parameter pendukung adalah kualitas air, oseanografi (angin, arus dan curah hujan), bahan organik substrat dan fraksi substrat. Jenis-jenis gastropoda yang ditemukan dan dominan hidup di perairan Sedati pada bulan Oktober hingga Desember adalah Natica vitellus, Notocochlis tigrina, Babylonia spirata, Turricula javana, Cryptospira ventricosa, Murex trapa, Rapana venosa, Nassarius olivaceus dan Nassarius stolatus. Identifikasi gastropoda dilakukan dengan pengukuran panjang dan berat, serta melihat ciri-ciri morfologinya yang menggunakan buku acuan Abbott and Dance, Hossain et al. dan World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). Pola distribusi gastropoda di perairan Sedati memiliki pola penyebaran seragam dan mengelompok. v SKRIPSI POLA DISTRIBUSI DAN… SITI FADLIYAH IR-PERPUSTAKAAN UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA Kepadatan gastropoda di perairan Sedati pada stasiun A, stasiun B dan stasiun C tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p>0,05). Nilai kepadatan dan biomassa gastropoda di stasiun C lebih besar dari stasiun A dan B dengan nilai tertinggi pada bulan Desember. Nilai biomassa rata-rata gastropoda tertinggi sebesar 0,78 ton/km2 dan nilai kepadatan rata-rata gastropoda tertinggi sebesar 5 ind/10m2 yaitu pada bulan Desember di stasiun C. Tingginya kepadatan dan biomassa tersebut dikarenakan tidak terjadi penyebaran yang tinggi pada bulan Desember. Indonesia is known as an archipelago which has 75% of sea and water areas. Indonesia has so much wealth for mollusks, one of which is gastropods. Sedati waters is one of the coastal areas of Sidoarjo Regency which has the potential of mollusk resources in the form of sea snails. Catching mollusks without thinking about the presence of mollusks can cause a decrease in mollusk populations which can affect the distribution patterns and biomass in the waters. The distribution pattern and biomass of gastropods in waters is determined by the abiotic environment, biotic, and gastropod tolerance to each environmental factor. This study aims to determine the distribution patterns and gastropod biomass in Sedati waters, Sidoarjo, East Java. This research uses observation method with descriptive analysis. Determination of sampling points using purposive sampling method. While sampling uses the Stratified Random Sampling method. The main parameters observed were distribution index (Id), density index (Q), and biomass index (B). The supporting parameters are water quality, oceanography (wind, currents and rainfall), substrate organic matter and substrate fraction. Gastropods found and dominant in Sedati waters in October to December are Natica vitellus, Notocochlis tigrina, Babylonia spirata, Turricula javana, Cryptospira ventricosa, Murex trapa, Rapana venosa, Nassarius olivaceus and Nassarius stolatus. Gastropod identification is done by measuring the length and weight, and looking at morphological characteristics using the reference book Abbott and Dance, Hossain et al. and World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). Gastropod distribution patterns in Sedati waters have a uniform and group distribution patterns. Gastropod density in Sedati waters at station A, station B, and station C did not show a significant difference (p> 0.05). The highest average gastropod biomass value is 0,78 ton/km2 and the highest average gastropod density value is 5 ind/10m2 which is in December at Station C. High density and biomass is caused by the absence of high distribution in December. Email: [email protected] Abstract Moonsnails (Naticidae) are major predators in marine soft substrates worldwide and are thought to prey almost exclusively on shelled molluscs by drilling predation. However, reports on single individuals of various naticid species showing unusual feed- ing behaviour indicate that naticids possibly also feed on other prey which have an external skeleton. The present study pro- vides the first evidence for size selective feeding of an Australian moonsnail (Conuber sordidus) on crustaceans. C. sordidus preys on soldier crabs (Mictyris longicarpus and Mictyris platycheles) on intertidal sand/muddy tidal flats, representing the first well-documented example of a naticid preying on large non-molluscan invertebrates in addition to shelled molluscs. This indicates that prey choice in C. sordidus is less stereotyped than predicted for naticid species, although the feeding mode docu- mented here is similar to that used to capture their main diet of shelled molluscs. The results strongly support some contested earlier studies that have also indicated that naticids will eat non-molluscan prey with an external skeleton, highlighting a need to re-examine generally accepted models concerning naticid feeding ecology.
