Weekly update Up to and including SATURDAY 22ND APRIL 2017 Welcome to the latest update of Fantasy Non-League 2016/17. Today’s update covers the seven-day period Sunday 16th April 2017 through to Saturday 22nd April 2017. This update features the very busy Easter period and that has meant there has been plenty of points up for grabs. We have just eight days left of our final Manager of the Month of this FNL season. The April 2017 competition is turning out to be quite a high scoring game. Leading the way at the moment is JimaHojo United who have so far, this month scored 2,398pts. He is currently 87pts ahead of second placed The Smurfs and 89pts ahead of third placed The Goaldiggers. The top ten is cov- ered by just 118pts so it’s going to be an interesting last eight days and it may come down to who has the most teams in the lower leagues who are taking part in the play-offs. Please remember that the play-off games are treated as league games and the only bonuses available is for the actual team that wins the play-off final and then gets promoted. At the bottom of the April 2017 Manager of the Month table is Richard’s Losers who has scored just 664pts and is 87pts adrift from his nearest challenger Bottom Scent. The bottom ten is covered by 193pts. Next week’s update will be eight days as the final day of April 2017 is a Sunday. Also please note that the FNL Mini-League and FNL Texting update that are released with today’s update will be the last ones until after the end of the competition in the mid- dle of May 2017.

HOPPER & SON NON-LEAGUE CHALLENGE TROPHY Looking for a non-league football fix? Run out of things to do? Head over to the blog below and read what Trevor Knell has to say, you will find a range of articles from Step 1-6 and much more: www.footballwriting.blog Alternatively find me on Facebook under my company name where I am available for any football article writing you would like published: www.facebook.com/TKEnterprises2019 For any queries or ideas please email me at the address below: [email protected] INTRO Following on from the overriding success of the virtual FA Cup we ran from mid March to early May, the easy thing to do would’ve been to draw a line under it and call it a day. I though ‘It’s not going to be bettered.’ ‘We’re not going to get anyway near it.’ ‘Clubs aren’t going to want to do it again.’ The harder thing to do would be to reimagine it as something completely different, bigger and better. Guess which route we took? The Hopper & Son Non-League Challenge Trophy was born long before the completion of our virtual FA Cup. One of the trickier parts to our original competition was the necessary omission of 100-200 Step 6 clubs due to the limited number of entrants that the FA Cup offers. Those that missed out included some of the fantastic clubs we’d visited in the past and, although they may never have know and, even if they did, they may not have cared, I felt bad.

  • The London Chess League (Www
FOREWORD - Phil Ehr Dear Chess Friends, Around this time last year, I wrote to some of you as Director of Junior Chess and Education, predicting that we would see more junior training events, especially for promising players seeking to compete in the offi- cial international youth championships. The prediction was partially fulfilled by independent organisations. The prediction was not fulfilled in that the ECF did not itself organise training events for these promising players. That shortfall illustrates the strengths and weaknesses of our Federation. We are inherently strong in the sense that independent organisations often take the initiative. We often show weakness when the ECF seeks to rally volunteer resources toward an ambition. Writing now as Chief Executive, I would encourage you to reflect on the positive chess activity recorded in this Yearbook and imagine how the ECF can foster more and better chess. Funding for chess was identified in the 2013 ECF elections as our primary impediment.
