This theme “tells a story of a dream and reality and the hope of Kuwait, in the past and present and future, which were made possible by the people of Kuwait who achieved advanced genuine development in economic, development, social and cul- tural domains,” said Sheikh Salman during the opening of the pavilion. This development mirrored Kuwait’s civilized image which was made possible through hard work and dedi- cation, as well as proper use of human and natural resources and exchange of expertise in fields of science and technology for food security, said Sheikh Salman, representing HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He said Kuwait, named by the UN as a “humanitarian center”, was proud to be present at Milan Expo 2015. This pavilion, he added, would further cement relations between Kuwait and Italy that were established some 50 years ago. On behalf of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, also named by the UN as a “Humanitarian Leader”, and HH the Prime Minister, he said, “I convey to you a message of cooperation, of love and international peace towards achieving the objec- tives of this Expo.” Kuwait and Italy are bound by a close relationship, said Sheikh Salman, citing Italy’s participa- tion in the international coalition that liberated Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion in 1991, to HH the Amir’s visit to Italy in 2010 which resulted in the signing of several cooperation agreements, to HH the Prime Minister’s vis- MILAN: Kuwait’s Information Minister and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah opens Kuwait’s pavilion at the Milan Expo yester- it to Italy last year. day in the presence of Italian and Kuwaiti dignitaries including Kuwait Times Editor-in-Chief Abd Al-Rahman Al-Alyan (second left). — KUNA (See Page 2) Continued on Page 13 US Navy bolsters presence in Gulf Iran says Yemen security ‘like our own’ WASHINGTON: US warships protecting incidents in less than a week in which American-flagged ships in the Strait of commercial vessels were coerced or No monkeying Hormuz may extend assistance to other harassed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. countries’ vessels, officials said Friday, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter around allowed after reports of Iranian forces harassing approved the operation and “this is shipping.
