    Executive Summary Kuwait is the third-largest economy in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC, after Saudi Arabia and the UAE), and the Government of Kuwait has taken preliminary steps toward liberalizing sectors of its economy in the past year. Legislation passed in 2013 including a new FDI law and a commercial companies law aimed at easing constraints to doing business in Kuwait, and at establishing a “one stop shop” to help companies start operations in Kuwait. In March 2014, the Central Bank of Kuwait announced that foreign banks could open multiple branches in Kuwait – until that time, they could only open one branch. The April 2014 passage of historic telecommunications legislation potentially signals the government may liberalize the telecom sector and create opportunities for more competition in the coming years. After years of delays, the state oil companies in 2014 awarded several high-value contracts to foreign consortia to expand refinery capacities in Kuwait. Moves toward privatization of Kuwait’s stock exchange and its national airline have also begun. Nevertheless, Kuwait is perceived as a difficult place to invest in and do business with, and challenges to operating in the country remain. Email:[email protected] Abstract The sheltered intertidal mudflats of Kuwait Bay have scanty macrophytes but are rich in microflora. The dominant epipsammic organisms of the microbial mats are cyanobacteria. Dominant cyanobacterial forms include Microcoleus chthonoplastes, Oscillatoria nigro-viridis, and Lyngbya aestuarii. Algal biomass (mea- sured as chlorophyll a concentrations) varied at the three study sites (A, S and K) reflecting their relative shelteredness. The mean annual chlorophyll a concentrations at sites A and S were 57 mg chl a m-2 and 315 mg chl a m-2 respectively. The most sheltered site K had a mean annual chlorophyll a concentration of 815 mg chl a m-2. Seasonal variation in the total epipsammic mat biomass contribution to the bay from the three sites was not observed reflecting its perennial nature in the sheltered Sulaibikhat Bay of Kuwait Bay. A study of the developmental stages and location variables of health care services can facilitate understanding location characteristics for a progressive perspective to achieve optimal standards of health care service. This study focuses on the 17 public health centers lo- cated within the districts of the Capital Governorate, State of Kuwait. The scientific methodology that is used in this study is based on a spatial and geo-statistical analysis of public health centers. The results of this applied analysis highlight the inadequacies of the current management system running public health facilities in the State of Kuwait.

It occupies the southwestern part of Kuwait Bay, between latitudes 29° 19ʺ and 29° 24ʺ north and longitudes 47° 50ʺ and 47° 55ʺ east, and covers a total area of about 45 km2. The lagoon bay is a shallow (7-8 m) tide-dominated embayment with a very soft muddy flat basin. It has a simple bottom topography, with a maximum water depth of about 8 m. The main objectives of this study is to delineate the water quality of Sulaibikhat Bay, to study the input of anthropogenic activities on the water quality, to recommend methods to improve water quality of the bay and to study the sediment and their heavy metals contents.

These chemicals find their way to the marine environment via the sewage treatment Alkylphenols plants (STPs). Hence, this study was designed to investigate the status and sources of EDCs and their effect on Estrogens fish in Kuwait's coastal areas, from the chemical and biological perspectives. The assessment of three STPs Endocrine disrupting compounds indicated the presence of significant levels of phthalates (19 and 31 µg/l), alkylphenols (85 and 159 ng/l), and Vitellogenin estrogens (30 and 368 ng/l) in both inflow and outflow samples. The analysis of samples from field exposure Immunohistochemisty sites revealed significant levels of EDCs in seawater (phthalates: 2.1–4.6 µg/l; alkylphenols: 1.2–16.4 ng/l; es- trogens: 0–36.2 ng/l) and sediment (phthalates: 2.1–15.7 mg/kg dry wt; alkyphenols: 2.5–15.1 µg/kg dry wt.; estrogens: 4.1–214.2 µg/kg dry wt.) samples. The biological perspective investigated through the exposure of fish to sewage outlets at five sites.
