PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME 2011-2012 EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM T EACHER A CTIVITY G UIDE Proud Partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Educational Outreach Program Dear Educator: A primary goal of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's mission is to educate the public regarding the origin, development, and growth of professional football as an important part of American culture. As an educational institution, the Pro Football Hall of Fame shares a wealth of information regarding the sport of professional football with people in communities across the country. It is the Pro Football Hall of Fame's firm conviction that the creative integration of the pro football story and the museum experience with classroom studies builds an effective bridge between education and student interests. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is extremely pleased to again offer our Educational Outreach Program for students in grades K through 12. Since its inception in 1984, the program has been well received and over 175,000 youth have participated. We hope that you, as a superintendent, director of curriculum, principal, or teacher, will want to participate after examining this material. We offer a wide variety of educational initiatives including: museum field trips, video conference programming, special student seminars, NFL outreach, teacher enrichment days, and many more exciting, but most importantly, valuable educational tools for educators. The pages that follow serve as a supplemental piece for pre- and post-activities for our educational programs as well as general lessons to assist educators in the everyday planning of classroom lessons. This activity guide includes a wide range of interdisciplinary classroom exercises each aligned with national educational standards in language arts, science, family and consumer sciences, social studies, mathematics, physical education, visual arts, and technology. For up-to-date information regarding our current educational offerings, please visit our educational homepage at http://www.profootballhof.com/education/ or if you would like to participate in any of our outreach programs, please contact Jerry Csaki or Adam Shipley of our Education Outreach staff at 330-456-8207.
