20I9 Race Book Sailing Rules Race Instructions Race Schedule Events 20i9 Race Book Sailing Rules Race Instructions Race Schedule Events Better Sailing Through Racing 1 President’s Welcome Hello Fleet! Thank you for supporting the many changes we have made over the last few seasons especially moving to the ORR-EZ rating system. I feel this has only improved the Fleet and racing. This was done with a lot of hard work from the board members. This will allow us to better aligned with the local Fleets and rating system in the future. This off-season we have renamed our organization to Hingham Bay Racing under the corporate name of Hingham Bay Racing, Inc. This season will see more changes as we are removing some of the preset courses and giving the PRO the ability to move the committee boat to alternative starting areas for changing wind conditions. They also will be able to select marks for suitable course for more competitive racing. This may be a little challenging so please familiarize yourself with the local mark list. Also see other changes made in the following: 1. We have rename or organization Hingham Bay Racing, Inc. 2. Handicapping under ORR-EZ 3. Eliminating some preset courses and renumbering the preset courses that remain 4. Giving the PRO abilities to move starting area and set traditional mark course 5. Eliminating I Flag also now as the 20% rule alternative penalty 6. Reinstating the 720 rule for alternative penalty 7. Returning to the traditional A-B-C starting order 8. The Rumbles have been altered a bit to help reduce travel time and mark selection. If you don’t like what we are doing join the board. If you are reading this for the first time please reach out to use. We are open to all sailboats in the Hingham Bay Area don’t need to be affiliated with a yacht club. We are a friendly group of sailor... come join the fun. Smelt deposited eggs primarily in the Monatiquot River, upstream of Route 53, over a stretch of river habitat that exceeded 900 m and included over 8,000 m2 of suitable spawning substrate. Minor amounts of egg deposition were found in Smelt Brook, primarily located below the Old Colony railroad embankment where a 6 ft culvert opens to an intertidal channel. The Smelt Brook spawning habitat is degraded by exposure to chronic stormwater inputs, periodic raw sewer discharges and modified stream hydrology. Overall, the entire Weymouth-Fore River system supports one of the larger smelt runs in Massachusetts Bay, with approximately 10,000 m2 of available spawning substrate.

  • News Letter January 2012
NEWS LETTER JANUARY 2012 DICKERSON HISTORY A Historical Review Committee consisting of Barry Creighton, Paula and Jim Karr, D and Don Wogaman and the writer has compiled a Historical Review of Dickerson Boatbuilders from it’s humble beginning at Bill Dickerson’s back yard at Church Creek, Maryland in 1946 to Trappe and the building of the last Dickerson in 1987. The Dickerson Owners web site http://dickersonowners.org/ features a short video of this fabulous history and a 16 page document with photos. At the 2012 Dickerson Rendezvous, June 15-17, we will celebrate the Dickerson Boatbuilders by inviting those that are still with us and the relatives of those that have moved on to visit with us and join in this celebration. In compiling this history, it was heartwarming to talk to the relatives of those that have passed on like Preston Brannock and Donald Griffin and those that are still with us like Tom Lucke, Ted Reed and our own Jim and Paula Karr (who played such active roles in the organization and got married while working for the Dickerson firm). Following is a note that we received from Ted Reed who bought Dickerson Boatbuilders in December of 1978 with his friend Bennett Dorrance and built the D-37, D-50, and Farr 37 in addition to the D-41 and D-36; started a charter service, and built a new marina. Joe Slavin, “Irish Mist” “Dear Joe, First I want to thank you and the others involved in compiling the Dickerson History and keeping the Dickerson Association alive and well.

  • Quincy Bay: Background Analysis
State Water Survey Division SURFACE WATER SECTION AT THE Illinois Department of UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS Energy and Natural Resources Miscellaneous Publication 69 QUINCY BAY: BACKGROUND ANALYSIS AND A PROPOSED PLAN OF ACTION by J. Rodger Adams Champaign, Illinois October 1982 Quincy Bay: Background Analysis and a Proposed Plan of Action Introduction Quincy Bay is a complex backwater along the Mississippi River adjacent to the City of Quincy, Illinois. Hunting, fishing, and boating are common in the bay. Sediment accumulation in Quincy Bay has been a concern for many years. The change in water flow patterns and sediment deposition following the opening of a small boat access channel in the late 1960's has increased the concern. Local citizens have requested corrective action since 1975. This report presents a summary of existing data, some of which has been provided by a citizens group. The available information is not adequate to determine the best means of alleviating the sedimentation problem. Thus, this report outlines a proposal to conduct a complete study of the hydraulics and sedimentation of Quincy Bay. This study would produce recommendations to alleviate the sedimentation problem. Description of Quincy Bay On most maps (USGS, 1971; Corps of Engineers, 1978) Quincy Bay is a 3-mile long by 400 to 2000 ft wide body of water extending north along the bluff line in Illinois from mile 327 above Cairo, Illinois on the Upper Mississippi River. The City of Quincy is located near the bay outlet. An associated complex of interconnected channels and small bays lies to the west of Quincy Bay proper.
