About Virgin America + T2: Launched in 2007, Virgin America is a low-fare airline with new planes, attractive fares, topnotch service and a host of innovative amenities aimed at reinventing domestic air travel. As the only airline headquartered in , Virgin America operates from its home at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). With its eco-friendly doors opening to the public on April 14th, the 640,000-square foot T2 will soon serve as the airline’s new home. The has described Virgin America’s planes as “airborne discotheques” and WIRED called them a “Multi-million Dollar Ipod. That Flies.” Much like the airline that will call it home, T2 intends to elevate the traveler experience by offering the best in food, technology and sustainable design. Known for its own inventive design and sustainable practices, Virgin America informed the T2 design concept from the earliest stages.

Virgin America’s growth at SFO: Virgin America’s growth as the only SFO-based airline has helped make SFO one of the nation’s few growing airports from 2007 onwards. Virgin America has hired over 1900 teammates, signed up 1.7 million frequent flyers and welcomed over 11 million travelers in just over three years flying. The carrier continues to fuel significant expansion, with plans to add 500 teammates on an annual basis over the next three years and triple its fleet size by 2019. Virgin America will occupy seven gates at T2; will occupy six gates; and there will be one common-use gate.

Elevating the Passenger Experience: Virgin America’s New Home at Terminal 2 T2 has reinvented the typical airport user experience for the modern traveler with stress-free and calming spaces (lounge-like living rooms, next generation lighting and a “Recompose” zone intended to offer a soothing oasis post-security); innovative amenities that make travel easier (free WiFi, laptop stations); and the best in organic and local dining – in keeping with Northern California’s “foodie” roots.

Unique Design Features and Amenities within T2: • Similar to Virgin America’s signature cabin music, moodlighting, seating and design, T2’s “Recompose” zone will create a stress-reducing oasis for travelers post-security. • Virgin spaces at T2 will feature “Mood-lit” LED counters that model the airline’s own distinctive cabin moodlighting (which transitions based on outside light and is intended to soothe and relax travelers). • Upscale “Slow Food” concessions with a focus on locally-produced California menus – including offerings from chefs Cat Cora and Tyler Florence and California favorites like Pinkberry. • Gates designed with beautiful “living room” like spaces in view of dining spaces. Common spaces allow travelers to shop, relax, work, eat and play within visual sight of their gate. • Massive art installations. • Children’s play areas situated close to gates. • Laptop work-tables and plug-in stations, elevated work counters and free wireless throughout.

Green Design: T2’s Sustainable Build and Design • T2 is slated to be the first LEED® Gold-certified airport terminal in the U.S. • Design elements include the vast utilization of natural light; modern ventilation systems that require 20 percent less energy; skylights and clerestories which bring daylight into the ticketing lobby and retail areas and significantly reduce electricity usage in the day. • ‘Hydration Stations’ allow flyers to fill reusable water bottles past security, reducing volume of waste. • The first airport dining program in the country to recruit Slow Food® vendors, T2 will feature organic food vendors, offering wholesome food grown locally and prepared in a healthful manner, as well as the required use of compostable utensils and containers. Vendors include: Andale, Cat Cora, Lark Creek Grill, Napa Farms & Vino Volo, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, The Plant Café Organic, Pinkberry and more. • Contractors recycled 90 percent of construction and demolition debris from the T2 project. SFO requires ongoing source separation of all recyclable solid waste to enable the attainment of 75 percent recycling by 2010 and 90 percent recycling by 2020. • Preferential parking for hybrid cars. • Reclaimed water reuse program.

• With the airline’s additional investment in sustainable practices and materials, it is expected that Virgin America’s spaces at T2 will achieve the highest possible LEED® Platinum-certified status. Below are some of the additional steps Virgin America has taken toward LEED® Platinum-certified status: o Use of “Greenguard” certified woods and USGS-approved furniture sourcing. o Lighting is 35% more efficient than California Energy Codes, with night/day motion sensors. o Energy efficient heating, cooling and ventilation with occupancy sensors in Virgin America rooms. o All computers and office equipment are 100% EnergyStar certified. o Diversion of over 90% of construction waste. o Green building materials include high-recycled content, locally-manufactured case goods and other products, particle board made from agricultural waste and all wood certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). o Use of low-emitting paints, coatings and building products. o Air filtered by the top-quality filtration system in the base building.

Virgin America Larger Design Philosophy + Onboard Amenities: • Virgin America’s airport spaces offer a sleek, user-friendly and modern aesthetic – including white fiberglass kiosk check-in tables with touch-screen panels and a concierge desk look-and-feel. • Virgin America’s new Airbus A320-family fleet feature highly customized interiors with comfortable, more ergonomically-correct leather seating (and lumbar massagers in ) and signature cabin moodlighting (which transitions across 12 shades based on outside light to relax and soothe guests). • Virgin America was the first carrier to offer fleetwide WiFi and regular power outlets near every seat. • The airline’s in-flight entertainment platform is generations ahead of any system in the U.S. skies. The Red platform offers: o 9-inch video touch-screens and qwerty keyboard/remote controls at every seat. o More than 30 on-demand movies and 24 channels of live TV – at every seat. o A 3,000 MP3 library and ability for guests to build their own playlist in-flight. o Videogames, including cult-classics like DOOM. o Interactive Maps and seat-to-seat chat messaging. o The world’s first on-demand in-flight food and drink ordering system at every seatback.

Virgin America’s Sustainability Story: Growing to the Gold Standard in Green Since its launch in 2007, Virgin America has made sustainable practices part and parcel of its business model – right down to the use of organic hand-soap in its lavatories and a focus on healthy and organic menu offerings. The carrier has a brand new fleet that is up to 25% more fuel and carbon efficient than the average fleet flying domestically. The airline was the first in the U.S. to allow guests to offset their carbon footprint in-flight and to report its own carbon footprint according to internationally-accepted standards via The Climate Registry. In Jan. 2011, the airline placed the first commercial order for the new Airbus A320neo aircraft which will offer a further 15% fuel efficiency improvement. In addition to a LEED® Silver-certified headquarters, Virgin America’s new home at SFO’s T2 is slated to be the first LEED® Gold-certified airport terminal in the U.S. Virgin America is additionally investing in its T2 spaces to achieve the highest possible LEED® Platinum-certified status.
