Research Experience

 Isolation and handling of pancreatic islets from different species (mice, pigs and humans).  Flow cytometry.  Measurement of intracellular calcium and mitochondrial membrane potential (Fluorescent microscopy).  Determination of reactive oxygen species (Fluorescent microscopy).  Quantification of apoptosis using TUNEL technique.  Measurement of insulin release induced by glucose in isolated islets.  Isolation of rat thoracic aorta.  Preparation of tissue sections using cryostat.  Induction of stress in rats using water-immersion restraint and cold restraint models.  Assessment of ulcer index in rat stomach.

 Assessment of anti-inflammatory activity of drugs using rats.  Handling experimental animals (mice and rats)

 Statistical analyses using Graphpad Instat and Prism.  Experimental Data and Image analyses using Igor Pro, CellQuest, TILLvisION and Adobe Photoshop.  Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).  Holder of International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Certificate.  Passed DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang, German language examination for university admission) with a total result of DSH-2.
