• Increase focus on developing EVERY BLACK KNIGHT PLAYER and COACH! • We brought in Mike King who will be focused on doing exactly that! • We have the best special instruction team in the league. • We increased each team’s special instruction allocation to allow our hockey experts to add value to every team throughout the season. • Recurring coaches’ meetings will be established to allow greater participation and brainstorming among coaches. • Increase family-friendly events and community focus. • PBK End of Summer Event is back for 2016/17. • PBK Opening Ceremony is back for 2016/17. • Offer a quality hockey product at a more affordable price. • PBK will move to a base product offering model that focuses on the on-ice components (practices, games, and instruction). • Returning travel players can re-use their jerseys from year to year. There are standards and rules that will govern this process. • Wind suits are no longer a required purchase for travel players, but available for purchase as desired • Tournament allowances have been eliminated to allow teams and families the opportunity to manage exactly how much they chose to spend on tournaments as a team. • Need more skill development opportunity for house program (especially mites) • PBK will offer recurring pay-as-you-play skills clinics throughout the season as added opportunities for skill development. • Need better communication and integration across PBK • Expanded and improved board structure has been implemented to allow greater participation and focus on the key deliverables of our organization. • Creation of various committees for greater member involvement in the operations and planning of PBK. • Pre-defined PBK board meeting schedule with public member forum prior to board meeting each month. • Development is underway for a Hockey 101 Guide/FAQ to help socialize the important aspects of PBK Hockey and youth hockey in general. • Need to improve overall PBK mite program (house and travel). • Recurring pay-as-you-play clinics will be introduced in 2016/17. • Mike King will focus on the PBK mite program and implement a standard practice model with skill progressions across the entire program. This focus will also include parent and coach education on what can be expected over the course of the season. • More participation can be expected from older travel players and coaches in recurring mite practices to help model the appropriate skills and behaviors. • Restructuring of house mite rosters to allow for more age-specific team structuring (i.e. 4/5 yr old teams, 5/6 yr old teams, 7/8 yr old teams, etc). • Addition of a ‘House Mite Select’ team or teams that will serve as a bridge between regular house mites and travel mites. • Need to keep focus on rostering players and leveling teams at the appropriate skill level to be successful. • A new policy and procedure has been developed and approved which will help standardize our evaluation and rostering process for years to come. What’s new for 2016/17 (cont’d)…

Travel Jerseys and Windsuits can be re- used from year to year!

• If you are a returning PBK travel player and you do not need game jerseys, you are not required to purchase them. • However, if your player number is duplicated with another player at the same level for the 2016/17 season, the player with the least amount of PBK years of service will be required to purchase new jerseys and select a new player number. In the event both affected players shared the same amount of PBK years of service, the younger player will be required to purchase new jerseys. • If a player desires to change their number for the upcoming season, the player will be required to purchase new jerseys. • Existing jersey modifications (i.e. changing name plate or number) are not permitted and will likely result in the need to purchase new jerseys due to the modifications not conforming to our high quality product standard. • Please note, jerseys are purchased in pairs (home and away). Replacing or ordering just one jersey (home or away) is not permitted. • Windsuits are strongly encouraged for the PBK travel program (mite through midget) as that is the standard offering for travel hockey in our area. However, if a returning player would like to re-use a windsuit from the prior year, that is permitted. For new players to PBK, the purchase of a windsuit is strongly encouraged, but not required. Please note, windsuits are purchased as a pair (jacket and pants). Replacing or ordering just one piece (jacket or pants) is not permitted. • PBK believes in promoting a high quality product and our appearance is part of that high quality product. If your game jerseys show excessive wear or are ill-fitting, you will be required to purchase new jerseys. PBK’s Director of Equipment and Purchasing will have the final judgement on whether or not a particular jersey meets the quality standards of our organization and the leagues where we hold membership. • The cut-off for new jersey purchases is June 17th, 2016. Any requests received after that date will be subject to a significantly longer turnaround from purchase to fulfillment. • Jersey, socks, and windsuit fittings will take place in early June. • BASE travel cost includes game socks, practice jersey, and use of PBK- owned pant shell! • House jerseys and socks cannot be re-used from year to year. Both are included in the base cost. • (2) PBK Travel Jersey cost is $190. • PBK Windsuit cost is $90. The PBK Products… Mite Hockey

The Process... • The overall goal of the entire tryout process at every age level is to find the best team for each player, and the best players for each team. • PBK is a tryout-based organization. Each season, players compete and are evaluated based on their abilities and are placed on the appropriate age level team. Player evaluations are one of the most difficult tasks for a youth hockey association to perform. Many times the margin between several players is very thin. Thus the ultimate aim of the tryout process is to provide sufficient opportunity for all independent evaluators and board assigned evaluation leads to thoroughly evaluate each player's abilities. • The independent evaluators will provide objective evaluations of all players to the rostering leads. The rostering leads will recommend all player placements to the Director of Player & Coach Development (DPCD) and/or board assigned delegate. • The DPCD or his board assigned delegate has final roster approval authority. PAMHA will utilize the individuals in the evaluation process they feel possess the greatest skill and knowledge to make decisions on behalf of the organization. • Prior to being allowed on the ice for evaluations, all players must: • Complete the online registration for USA Hockey for the 2016/17 season • Register online at www.palmyrablackknights.org • Pay the required evaluation fee of $50. • Pay the required commitment deposit of $250 • Note: Any player with an outstanding financial obligation to PBK or member club in the Atlantic District of USA Hockey will not be permitted to evaluate with PBK or any other association until the obligation is fulfilled. • Goalies should attend the evaluation sessions for their specific age level • Players will be assigned a pinnie at the registration/check-in desk. The pinnie number will have no significance to the player's ability, rating, or placement. The pinnie number must be fully visible to the evaluators while the player is on the ice. Goalies should have the number side of pinnie in front. • Players are asked to arrive 45 minutes early for their FIRST evaluation session to complete online pre-registration check-in • Anyone who cannot make their designated evaluation time has the option of attending our eval make-up session on Wednesday April 13th. Any player who cannot make at least one of their designated sessions or the make-up session, will need to contact [email protected] to make future evaluation arrangements. Any player who misses evaluations and does not make arrangements by April 13th for a future evaluation session will be assessed a late evaluation fee of $50.

PBK Travel Evaluation Guidelines (cont’d)…

The Process (Cont’d)... • Notification of player placements will occur as early as possible following adequate time for evaluators, rostering leads and DPCD to review all assessment data. Player placements will be communicated via the association website and/or via email. • Please note, roster assignments are subject to change prior to and during the season as necessary in the best interest of the players, teams, and organization. • PBK will follow the below recommendations regarding travel roster size per team. • Midget: 15 skaters and 2 goalies • Bantam: 15 skaters and 2 goalies • Peewee: 13 skaters and 2 goalies • Squirt: 13 skaters and 2 goalies • Mite: 10 skaters and 1 goalie • PBK under direction of the DPCD has the authority to roster less players than the above recommendations based on the skill level of the players available. • Ideally PBK will never have to make any cuts and all players will be happy with their team. Unfortunately, in some circumstances cuts will be considered necessary. PBK will follow the policy on cuts and roster placement rejections.

• PBK’s complete Evaluation and Rostering Policy is available at www.palmyrablackknights.org under Association Documents/Policy.
