It’s hard to believe that we’re already in our 7 th year, and how far we’ve come in that short time! Thanks to the support of all of you, this event has become one of the most anticipated and sophisticated wine and food festivals on the East Coast, not only because of its content, but because of its unique and spectacular seaside setting here in Newport. This year we are excited to welcome Chef Emeril Lagasse, who makes his first-ever appearance at our Festival, and also to be renewing acquaintances with old friend Chef Jacques Pépin and his daughter Claudine. Emeril and the Pépins will be cooking during the weekend Grand Tastings, as well as greeting guests and signing cookbooks. Each year, we have added new dimensions and activities to the Festival, and this year is certainly no exception. Some of you will be fortunate enough to enjoy an exclusive brunch with the Pépins at Marble House Saturday morning. And for the connoisseurs among our guests, we offer for the first time a Collectible Wine Dinner, taking place Saturday night at The Elms. We are incredibly grateful to all of the sponsors, vendors and exhibitors who make it possible for us to present this Festival, which supports historic preservation in Newport. All proceeds from this three-day event help the Preservation Society to ensure that Marble House, Rosecliff, The Elms and the other Newport Mansions—including a total of 7 National Historic Landmarks— are restored, preserved and maintained for the continued enjoyment and education of more than 800,000 visitors every year. In this unique and historic setting, we bring you hundreds of fine wines, great food, and the opportunity to talk to the winemakers one-on-one, learn new recipes from your favorite chefs, make new friends, and simply enjoy a remarkable and relaxing three-day experience. We are grateful for your attendance, and while you are here, we hope that you will take the time to visit some of our other properties and experience all that Newport has to offer at this beautiful time of year. A rich tradition of culinary invention and improvisation, combined with centuries of brewing passion and expertise, helped craft a stunning variety of beer styles enjoyed around the world. Leffe Blonde was first brewed in 1240 by the monks of Abbaye de Notre Dame de Leffe in Belgium. A spicy, faintly clove-like aroma is balanced by Leffe's creamy body and restrained dry finish. Stella Artois' rich brewing heritage dates back to 1366 in Leuven, Belgium, where it was first brewed to celebrate the holiday season. Traditional malted barley and the highest quality European hops give Stella Artois its full flavor and delicately crisp finish. Hoegaarden is the Original Belgian Wheat Beer, dating back to the 15th Century. A naturally cloudy beer, Hoegaarden features a secret to its refreshing flavor and spicy nose: real Curaçao orange peel and a dash of coriander.
