Gucci Mane released The Return of Mr. Zone 6 in March of 2011 as a reintroduction to the music so popular amongst his most ardent of fans. Brick Squad 1017 T-Shirt Ferrari Boyz is the second official release from Waka Flocka Flame. Last October, the rapper released his debut album Red Flockaveli, dubbed as "the most anarchic rap album of 2010" by the Washington Post. Led by the #1 single "" featuring and Roscoe Dash, Flockaveli debuted at #6 and was both praised and criticized for its abandonment of lyrical prose for menacing, adrenaline-fused production. The New York Times cited Flockaveli as "one of the most bracing and unforgiving hip-hop releases in recent memory. Almost single-handedly, and without context, it rediscovers hip-hop's pugnaicity in an era of extreme melodic sophistication, an idiosynratic anomaly."

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: Mexico City, Mexico

Born in Italy, from Italian and Spanish parents, comes an artist who has taken every measure one can take to fufill his passion for the love of music. The artist's name is Marco Di Mauro. Over ten years ago, Di Mauro left his country of Italy and moved to the beautiful beaches of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, searching for his opportunity to introduce his vocal and songwriting talents to Latin America and the U.S. After building a name for hismself locally, his songwriting talents started reaching prominent people in the world of publishing and he eventually hooked up with Warner Chappel as one of their many . But his big break came not too long ago when he recorded his first Warner Mexico release back in 2010 and the first radio single was chosen as a key track for an upcoming Televisa/Univision soap opera. This song, a duo with RBD's Maite Perroni, has not only become one of the biggest hits in Mexico in the last year, but in the U.S. as well. Now this summer, Di Mauro hits the U.S. with more than just a hit song at radio. He will also be performing the hit, A PARTIR DE HOY, live on Premios Juventud w/ Perroni. ALBUM FACTS "Shine Down" "Different" Lyric Video Genre: Pop Producers: Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Devo, The Bird and the Bee) Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio, ) Natalia Lafourcade Description: When Mexican vocalist Ximena Sariñana released her debut solo album, Mediocre , in 2008, Rolling Stone gave it four stars and praised it as "one of the strongest debuts from a female singer- since ' Come Away With Me." Recording the Spanish-language album was a natural step for Sariñana , who had risen to fame in her homeland as a child actress and had fronted a successful indie band for four years. "In Mexico, people believed in me as an artist," says the fully bilingual 25-year-old. So when she began thinking about recording an album in English she was confronted with a tough decision: "Either stay in my country, where everyone knows who I am, or start from scratch and convince people that I'm worth it." She chose the latter.

The result is a collection of songs that showcase her deep, striking voice, smart, thoughtful lyrics and offbeat personality. "I think of albums as Polaroid pictures of who I was at that given moment," says Sariñana. "All the songs are a bit dark. They capture a sort of general doom that I try to compensate with humor," she says. The lead single, "Different," opens with a playful whistle but is really an apology to listeners "about maybe not expressing myself clearly because of my different nationality," while "Bringing Us Down" was inspired by the poem "Candles" by Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy and deals with growing older and looking back at the fading past. The album not only reflects Sariñana's wise-beyond-her years demeanor, but also the kind of sonic growth and experimentation expected from a risk-taker.

"Everything was about forcing myself out of my comfort zone," says the singer, having leapt beyond her usual stripped down, mellow arrangements and into more daring musical territory. "I wanted quicker, bigger sounding songs and more bass and electronic instruments," says Sariñana , who plays the throughout. "I needed to be able to move to it on stage."

To help accomplish this, she enlisted producers Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Devo, The Bird and the Bee), Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Natalia Lafourcade. Recorded in Los Angeles, the songs are indeed snapshots; vignettes of events and emotions ornamented by lush arrangements and lightened by occasional whimsy. "Common Ground" is exalted with bells and space drums and "Wrong Miracle" includes circuit-bent children's toys and footsteps on gravel. "Echo Park," one of the last songs recorded, was built around a Casio drum machine and the need for a little comic relief. "I wanted to write something that was going to make me laugh. I didn't want to go too deep or serious like I usually do," says Sariñana . "I decided to make fun of how girls, especially in my world, always fall for guys in a band."

"Tu Y Yo" (You and Me) is the only song on the album sung entirely in Spanish. "My mother language and the country where I live in is such an important part of who I am," says Sariñana , who was born in Guadalajara and raised partly in LA before moving to Mexico City.

Despite her successes, Sariñana has no expectations when it comes to her English-language debut. "It's my first record to a lot of people. I just hope listeners can hear the honesty in the album," she says. "I titled it after myself because my name keeps it close to me and who I am as an artist and a person." It's a name many will come to recognize soon enough.

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: Mexico City Guadalajara Los Angeles Raised in a highly creative family - her mother is a screenwriter and her father is a film director and producer - instilled a love of the arts in Ximena Sariñana (hi-MEN-a sa-rin-YAH-na) early on. "I was four years old when I started acting," says Sariñana, a natural-born entertainer who became a household name in Mexico by appearing in 11 films (among them box office hit Amar Te Duele and film festival winner Dos Abrazos) as well as three prime time telenovelas.

An early discovery of greats like Ella Fitzgerald ignited her love of music, and at age 15 she began studying at Mexico's Academia de Musica Fermatta. At 17, she honed her vocal skills during a five-week program at Boston's renowned Berklee College of Music and then began fronting a jazz-funk fusion band called Feliz No Cumpleaños (Happy Un-Birthday), which "made a bit of noise in the underground," as she puts it. She also brought together her loves of film and music on occasion, co-writing and singing three songs on the Amar Te Duele soundtrack (which stayed on the Top 10 Soundtracks list in Mexico for 10 years) and acting as music supervisor for several films.

By the time her debut solo album Mediocre was released, Ximena's status as an artist was already cemented; the record debuted at number one in Mexico and went platinum soon after. Mediocre reached #10 on the Billboard Latin Pop Chart, #38 on the Billboard Latin Album Chart and Ximena was the only Latin artist in iTunes Best 10 Albums of 2008. She won the Best New Artist Award in the Premios MTV Latinoamerica 2008 (Latin MTV Awards) and received three Latin Grammy Nominations for Best New Artist, Best Alternative Song and Producer of the Year. Mediocre also received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album.

ALBUM FACTS Genre: Rock Description:

Sabatoge is the sixth studio album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in July 1975.

Black Sabbath began work on their sixth album in February 1975, again in England at Morgan Studios in Willesden, London. They had a decisive vision to differ the sound from their previous album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Guitarist Tony Iommi, who produced the album, said that "We could've continued and gone on and on, getting more technical, using orchestras and everything else which we didn't particularly want to. We took a look at ourselves, and we wanted to do a rock album - Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath wasn't a rock album, really." Over the years, singer Ozzy Osbourne has often complained in interviews that this album marked the beginning of what he described as Tony Iommi's studio production obsession. Sabotage took considerably longer to record and produce than each of their preceding albums, making it the most costly Black Sabbath album to that point. In comparison, the band's first album, Black Sabbath (1970), took only 12 hours to record at a cost of a few hundred pounds.

This reissue comes on 180-gram vinyl - lacquers cut from the original analog tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering - all original packaging replicated.

ARTIST & INFO Black Sabbath-the Black Sabbath, the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, four childhood friends from the north of England-grew out of the U.K's late-60s blues/hard rock scene, which also included Led Zeppelin, Cream, Blue Cheer, and other greats. Sabbath's sweeping and masterful metamorphosis away from that tradition spawned , inventing the template for everything that would follow. With crushing rhythms, torpedo riffs, haunting songs, and Ozzy's other-worldly vocals, the band conjured a dark, menacing, and resonant sound that reverberates still.

ALBUM FACTS Genre: Rock Description:

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is the fifth studio album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in December 1973. With this album, the band expanded upon their slow, crunching style of music by strings, keyboards and more complex orchestral arrangements.

Following the 1972-1973 world tour in support of their Volume 4 album, Black Sabbath again returned to Los Angeles, California to begin work on its successor. Pleased with Volume 4 , the band sought to recreate the recording atmosphere, and returned to the Record Plant Studios with new producer and engineer Tom Allom. Although the album credits the band's manager Patrick Meehan as producer, guitarist Tony Iommi said "Meehan's ego got involved, and he stuck his name down as producer".

With new musical innovations of the era, the band were surprised to find the room they had used previously at the Record Plant was replaced by a "giant synthesizer". The band rented a house in Bel Air and began writing in the summer of 1973, but due in part to substance issues and fatigue, were unable to complete any songs. "Ideas weren't coming out the way they were on Volume 4 and we really got discontent" Iommi said. "Everybody was sitting there waiting for me to come up with something. I just couldn't think of anything. And if I didn't come up with anything, nobody would do anything." After a month in Los Angeles with no results, the band opted to return to the UK, where they rented Clearwell Castle in The Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England. "We rehearsed in the dungeons and it was really creepy but it had some atmosphere, it conjured up things, and stuff started coming out again". While working in the dungeon, Iommi stumbled onto the main riff of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", which set the tone for the new material. Recording was completed at Morgan Studios in Willesden, North London in 1973. Keyboardist Rick Wakeman of the band Yes (who was recording Tales from Topographic Oceans with Yes in the next studio) was brought in as a session player, appearing on "Sabbra Cadabra".

ALBUM FACTS Genre: Jazz Packaging Specs: Reissue with new softpak packaging Description: It was on Frisell's critically-lauded "Quartet" album of 1995 - with its cover art by Thomas Hart Benton - that his compositional style took its most palpable turn toward a personalized brand of Americana. Foregoing a rhythm section and adding horns, he fashioned an ensemble sound that ultimately owed more to the tradition than the jazz group. On his subsequent projects, beginning with the milestone "Nashville", Frisell placed his compositions in the hands of seasoned alt-country players who interpreted the roots-inflected aspect of his writing with richly-hued virtuosity. These varying collaborations - heavily seasoned with country and rock - have resulted in the best-selling albums of the guitarist's career, and several seasons of much-praised roadwork.

On this latest effort, Frisell combines personnel from both these phases of his career, and intertwines them in an outstanding set of new compositions that add yet another dimension to an aristry in its prime.

Originally released 1/30/01 and cutout 2/24/11. Reissue with new softpak packaging.

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: Seattle, WA In a career spanning more than 25 years and over 150 recordings—including 25 albums of his own—guitarist, composer, and bandleader Bill Frisell has established himself as a visionary presence in American music. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, filmmakers and legendary musicians. But it is his work as a leader that has garnered increasing attention and accolades. The New York Times described Frisell’s music this way: “It’s hard to find a more fruitful meditation on American music than in the compositions of guitarist Bill Frisell. Mixing rock and country with jazz and blues, he’s found what connects them: improvisation and a sense of play. Unlike other pastichists, who tend to duck passion, Mr. Frisell plays up the pleasure in the music and also takes on another often-avoided subject, tenderness.” Frisell’s recordings over the last decades span a wide range of musical influences. His catalog, including 20 recordings for Nonesuch, has been cited by DownBeat as “the best recorded output of the decade.” It includes original Buster Keaton film scores to arrangements of music for extended ensemble with horns (This Land, Blues Dream); compositions originally written as soundtracks to Gary Larson cartoons (Quartet); interpretations of work by other classic and contemporary American composers (Have a Little Faith); and collaborations with the acclaimed rhythm section of bassist Viktor Krauss and drummer Jim Keltner (Gone, Just Like a Train; Good Dog, Happy Man). Other releases include an album with Nashville musicians (Nashville ), the solo album Ghost Town, an album of his arrangements of songs by and Burt Bacharach (), a trio album with jazz legends Dave Holland and Elvin Jones, and a collection of American traditional songs and original compositions inspired by them entitled . , nominated for a Grammy in 2004, combines Frisell’s own brand of American roots music and his unmistakable improvisational style with the influences of Brazilian, Greek, and Malian sounds. His 2004 release, Unspeakable, won a Grammy Award. His two-CD set East/West features his two working trios recorded in concert on both coasts. The Philadelphia Inquirer says, “Frisell is a revered figure among musicians—like and few others, his signature is built from pure sound and inflection; an anti-technique that is instantly identifiable.” Frisell’s collaborators have included such diverse artists as Gavin Bryars, Don Byron, Ron Carter, Loudon Wainwright III, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Jerry Douglas, Marianne Faithful, Robin Holcomb, , Paul Motian, Rinde Eckert, Caetano Veloso, , David Sylvian, Bono, Ron Sexsmith, Vic Chesnutt, Van Dyke Parks, Dave Holland, Elvin Jones, , Paul Simon, Vinicius Cantuaria, John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette, Lee Konitz, Hal Willner, Ginger Baker, Charlie Haden, Marc Ribot, , Kenny Wheeler, Joe Lovano, , Jan Garbarek, Gary Burton, Joey Baron, Marc Johnson, Vic Chesnutt, film directors Wim Wenders, Gus Van Sant and Rory Kennedy, cartoonist Gary Larson and visual artist Jim Woodring, and many others. He is also the music director of A Century of Song for the Ruhr Triennale Arts Festival in Germany. Collaborators in this series have included Suzanne Vega, Elvis Costello, Rickie Lee Jones, Loudon Wainwright III, and Ron Sexsmith, among others.

ALBUM FACTS Genre: Classical Packaging Specs: Reissue with new softpak packaging Description: One of the most original artists of his generation, violinist Gidon Kremer performs the work of composer, arranger, bandoneon virtuoso and tango master Piazzolla, displaying a new dimension in both his playing and repertoire for Hommage a Piazzolla. Kremer (who collaborated with Adams on the Nonesuch release of Adams' Violin Concerto has assembled a group of musicians modeled after the legendary quintet Piazzolla used for his performances--violin, guitar, bass, piano and bandoneon. On Hommage a Piazzolla Kremer is highly successful at conjuring that emotional tug-of-war in his interpretations of Piazzolla's music. His passionate readings of the composer's works range from haunting to romantic to rigorous to melancholy. One of the world's best known classical violinists, Kremer ventures into this musical style for the first time.

ARTIST & INFO Over the course of nearly thirty years of a distinguished career, violinist Gidon Kremer, born in Riga in 1947, has established a worldwide reputation as one of the most original and compelling artists of his generation, praised for his high degree of individualism, his rejection of the well-trodden paths of interpretation, and his search for new possibilities. Gidon Kremer has made more than one hundred recordings for a number of record labels. His most recent Nonesuch release is Happy Birthday (2003), whose release follows a disc of works by Romanian composer Georges Enescu (2002) and the Grammy Award-winning After Mozart (2001). Tracing Astor (2001) marked the third disc in a trilogy of albums celebrating the music of Astor Piazzolla, which also includes the Grammy-nominated Hommage à Piazzolla (1996) and El Tango (1997), featuring arrangements of works by Piazzolla performed by Kremer’s acclaimed Astor Quartet.

Kremer’s recordings, which have earned him a series of major international awards, have set new standards of interpretation. His repertoire is unusually extensive, encompassing all of the standard classical and Romantic violin works, as well as music by twentieth century masters. He has also championed the works of living Russian and Eastern European composers and has performed many important new compositions, of which several are dedicated to him. It is owing to his never-ending activities that we are able to appreciate composers such as Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt, Sofia Gubaidulina, Valentin Silvestrov, Luigi Nono, Aribert Reimann, and Astor Piazzolla, while being able to experience in a new way, one that bears tradition and at the same time remains contemporary.

Deeply committed to chamber music, his music festival in the small Austrian village of Lockenhaus, founded in 1981, is the realization of his belief that music can overcome all barriers of language and culture. Since 1992 the Lockenhaus musicians have been performing all over the world under the Kremerata Musica logo. On the occasion of Franz Schubert’s 200th birthday celebrations in 1997, they undertook a comprehensive concert cycle throughout Europe, including appearances at the Salzburg Festival.

In November 1996 Gidon Kremer founded the Kremerata Baltica, a chamber orchestra to foster outstanding young musicians from the three Baltic States. The Kremerata Baltica, which began undertaking regular concert tours with Kremer in 1997, has signed an exclusive, six-record deal with , of which Eight Seasons (2000) was the inaugural release, followed by Silencio (2000) and After Mozart(2001). In 1997 Gidon Kremer also took over leadership of the Musiksommer Gstaad (Switzerland), in succession to Lord Yehudi Menuhin.

Kremer began studying the violin at the age of four with his father and grandfather, and in 1965 he became a student of David Oistrach’s master class at the Moscow Conservatory. He has since been awarded the most prestigious violinist prizes, including the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and the Paganini Competition in Genoa, among others. He has also received many music awards such as the Frankfurt Music Award, the Ernst von Siemens Music Award, the first prize at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and the Federal Service Cross of Germany. Kremer has appeared on virtually every major concert stage with the most celebrated orchestras of Europe and America, and has recorded with today’s foremost conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Christoph Eschenbach, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Herbert von Karajan and Riccardo Muti. Gidon Kremer plays a Guarneri del Gesù - ex David - dating from 1730.

ALBUM FACTS Genre: Classical Producers: Helmut Muehle Packaging Specs: Reissue with new soft packaging Description: Although already well-established with audiences and critics throughout the world, violinist Gidon Kremer has achieved a new level of global recognition with his recordings of the music of Astor Piazzolla. His remarkable affinity for the composer is brought to a striking new project that pairs the Argentinian composer's "Four Seasons" with the Vivaldi work of the same name: perhaps the best-known piece of classical music there is.

ARTIST & INFO Through regular performances with major orchestras, recitals in the world's music capitals, and acclaimed Nonesuch recordings, pianist Richard Goode has won a large and devoted following. The New Yorker has said, "What one remembers most from Goode's playing is not its beauty-exceptional as it is-but his way of coming to grips with the composer's central thought, so that a work tends to make sense beyond one's previous perception of it ... The spontaneous formulating process of the creator [becomes] tangible in the concert hall." And according to the New York Times, "It is virtually impossible to walk away from one of Mr. Goode's recitals without the sense of having gained some new insight, subtly or otherwise, into the works he played or about pianism itself."

In 2007-2008, Richard Goode has performed and curated a multi-event residency at the South Bank Centre in London as the year's Artist-in-Residence, and has performed recitals in such cities as Berlin, Paris, Milan, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Berkeley. His orchestral appearances include the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of James Levine at Tanglewood, the London Philharmonic with Kurt Masur, the Concertgebouw Orchestra with Ivan Fisher, the New York Philharmonic with Sir Colin Davis, the San Francisco Symphony with Alan Gilbert, and the Radio Philharmonique in Paris with Peter Oundjian. In addition to his "engrossing" (New York Times) eight-event Carnegie Hall Perspectives in 2005-2006, Richard Goode was invited to hold master classes at the City's three leading conservatories-Juilliard, Manhattan, and Mannes-and to give two illustrated talks on his Perspectives repertoire at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In the 2006-2007 season, he was honored for his contributions to music with the first ever Jean Gimbel Lane Prize in Piano Performance, which culminated in a residency at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

During the 2006-2007 season, Richard Goode played recitals in the major music capitals in Europe and the United States, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Edinburgh, New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. His orchestral appearances last season included the Budapest Festival Orchestra under the baton of Ivan Fisher and the DSO Berlin with Herbert Blomstedt.

A native of New York, Richard Goode studied with Elvira Szigeti and Claude Frank, with Nadia Reisenberg at the Mannes College of Music, and with Rudolf Serkin at the Curtis Institute. He has won many prizes, including the Young Concert Artists Award, First Prize in the Clara Haskil Competition, the Avery Fisher Prize, and a Grammy Award. His remarkable interpretations of Beethoven came to national attention when he played all five concerti with the Baltimore Symphony under David Zinman, and when he performed the complete cycle of sonatas at New York's 92nd Street Y and Kansas City's Folly Theater.

In addition to his most recent release of Mozart solo works, Richard Goode has made more than two-dozen recordings, including Mozart concerti with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas, the complete Partitas by J.S. Bach, and solo and chamber works of Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Busoni, and George Perle. Goode is the first American-born pianist to have recorded the complete Beethoven sonatas, which were nominated for a Grammy Award and universally acclaimed. With soprano Dawn Upshaw, he has recorded Goethe Lieder of Schubert, Schumann, and Hugo Wolf for Nonesuch. The four recordings of Mozart concerti with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra were received with wide critical acclaim, including many "Best of the Year" nominations and awards and his recording of the Brahms sonatas with clarinetist Richard Stoltzman won a Grammy Award. Mr. Goode's first, long-awaited Chopin recording was also chosen Best of the Month by Stereo Review and descri

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: Berkeley, CA For his nearly 20 years as a major-label artist, jazz chart-topping saxophonist and composer Joshua Redman has led a wide range of adventurous combos, from the large-scale, classic repertoire-oriented SFJAZZ Collective to his funk-oriented trio, Elastic Band. In the new, collaborative quartet James Farm, the prodigious other members - pianist Aaron Parks, bassist Matt Penman, drummer Eric Harland - share equal billing with Redman. As he has explained, "Everybody in this band is a composer and all the decisions are made collectively. The sound of the band, the direction that each performance takes, the set list; they're all determined equally by us as band members."

Though younger than Redman, his band mates boast equally impressive resumes, having played individually with such artists as Terence Blanchard, Dave Holland, Betty Carter, McCoy Tyner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Charles Lloyd, and are among the most in-demand players in jazz right now. Penman and Harland were part of the SFJAZZ Collective and both appeared on Parks' acclaimed 2007 Blue Note solo debut, Invisible Cinema, which caught the ear of Redman and in part led to the formation of this new group.

ARTIST & INFO Hometown:

New York, NY

Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau has recorded and performed extensively since the early 1990s. Mehldau's most consistent output over the years has taken place in the trio format. Starting in 1996, his group released a series of five records on Warner Bros. entitled The Art of the Trio. Mehldau also has a solo piano recording entitled Elegiac Cycle, and a record called Places that includes both solo piano and trio songs. Elegiac Cycle and Places might be called "concept" albums. They are made up exclusively of original material and have central themes that hover over the compositions. Other Mehldau recordings include Largo , a collaborative effort with the innovative musician and producer Jon Brion, and Anything Goes-a trio outing with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy. His first record for Nonesuch, Brad Mehldau Live in Tokyo, was released in 2004. After ten rewarding years with Rossy playing in Mehldau's regular trio, drummer Jeff Ballard joined the band in 2005. The label releasesd its first album from the Brad Mehldau Trio-Day is Done -in 2005.

Mehldau's musical personality forms a dichotomy. He is first and foremost an improviser, and greatly cherishes the surprise and wonder that can occur from a spontaneous musical idea that is expressed directly, in real time. But he also has a deep fascination for the formal architecture of music, and it informs everything he plays. In his most inspired playing, the actual structure of his musical thought serves as an expressive device. As he plays, he listens to how ideas unwind, and the order in which they reveal themselves. Each tune has a strongly felt narrative arch, whether it expresses itself in a beginning, an end, or something left intentionally open-ended. The two sides of Mehldau's personality-the improviser and the formalist-play off each other, and the effect is often something like controlled chaos.

Mehldau has performed around the world at a steady pace since the mid-1990s, with his trio and as a solo pianist. His performances convey a wide range of expression. There is often an intellectual rigor to the continuous process of abstraction that may take place on a given tune, and a certain density of information. That could be followed by a stripped down, emotionally direct ballad. Mehldau favors juxtaposing extremes. He has attracted a sizeable following over the years, one that has grown to expect a singular, intense experience in his performance.

In addition to his trio and solo projects, Mehldau has worked with a number of great jazz musicians, including a rewarding gig with saxophonist Joshua Redman's band for two years, recording and concerts with Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz, and recording as a sideman with the likes of Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, and Charles Lloyd. For more than a decade, he has collaborated with several musicians and peers whom he respects greatly, including the guitarists Peter Bernstein and Kurt Rosenwinkel and tenor saxophonist Mark Turner. Mehldau also has played on a number of recordings outside of the jazz idiom, like Willie Nelson's Teatro and singer-songwriter 's Scar . His music has appeared in several movies, including Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Wim Wender's Million Dollar Hotel . He also composed an original soundtrack for the French film, Ma Femme Est Une Actrice. Mehldau also composed two new works commissioned by Carnegie Hall for voice and piano, The Blue Estuaries and The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God, which were performed in the spring of 2005 with the acclaimed classical soprano, Renee Fleming. These songs were recorded with Fleming and released in 2006 on the Love Sublime record; simultaneously, Nonesuch released an album of Mehldau's jazz compositions for trio entitled House on Hill.

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: New York, NY

On Pat Metheny's ambitious, experimental 2010 Orchestrion -named Jazz Album of the Year in Downbeat's 2010 Reader's Poll -- -the guitarist and composer employed a phalanx of custom-made robotic instruments to create a thrilling and decidedly futuristic sort of "solo" recording. For What's It All About, he simply picked up his baritone guitar. This ten-song disc is the first in Metheny's nearly forty-year recording career to feature an entire set of material drawn from outside composers, but, as one might expect, it's far from an ordinary "covers" album. Metheny, ruminates upon, improvises around and at times deconstructs the melodies of these Top 40 numbers, songs he heard growing up in the sixties and early seventies and that have resonated with him ever since. They include such iconic tracks as "The Girl From Ipanema," "Rainy Days and Mondays" and "Alfie," in which the already haunting movie theme is distilled to its gorgeously melancholy essence. These intimate, unadorned performances, recorded alone by Metheny in his New York City apartment, represent a process of rediscovery more than reinterpretation. Rich with personal meaning, they are as revealing about Metheny's creative process and fertile imagination as about the malleability of the songs themselves.

What's It All About, in approach, serves as a companion to Metheny's austerely beautiful 2003 Grammy Award-winning One Quiet Night, a solo disc in which Metheny first began to explore the possibilities of his new baritone guitar. As Metheny, the recipient of 17 Grammy Awards to date, explains, "I really wanted to keep it simple - one guitar, one player, as was the case on One Quiet Night. There are no overdubs on the record. But where this one differs from One Quiet Night is that I really focused on each tune along the way. Sometimes I would sit and think about each piece for hours before hitting the record button, practicing things and imagining a final performance. There are some edits here and there where I found sort of an idealized version of what I was shooting for, but the idea was to stay true to a particular way of playing and hearing the song by again, keeping the performance aspect of it really simple....I was able to get to what I wanted just sitting there with the instrument in hand." Along with the baritone guitar, he also picks up a nylon string guitar for his rendition of the Beatles "And I Love Her"; a six-string for the Chantay's "Pipeline"; and a custom-made 42-string, harp-like Pikasso guitar for a stunning, opening-track take on "The Sounds Of Silence." Metheny's plucking of the Pikasso recalls the sound of the Japanese Koto, underscoring the contemplative nature of this enterprise.

London's The Guardian recently cited Metheny as part of its Great Moments in Jazz series, noting, "Metheny is that rare jazz musician who combines a pop-composer's instinct for an anthemic melody with a virtuoso ability to play extended spontaneous solos without repeating himself....More than any other jazz guitarist of the post-bop era, Pat Metheny has given the instrument as natural and prominent a place in jazz as a trumpet or a saxophone." Comments Metheny himself, "My goal has always been to honestly represent the music that I really love in everything I do. This is really just another chapter in that ongoing search for the good notes."

ARTIST & INFO Jill Scott, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, and began her career as a spoken word artist, is one of those rare talents who seems to excel at every artistic endeavor she pursues. Her debut album, the double platinum "Who is Jill Scott: Words and Sounds Vol 1," was released in 2000, since then she's gone on to produce a string of well-praised live and studio recordings. Scott has taken home three Grammy Awards, and established herself as a critically acclaimed actress. In 2008, she stared in HBO's "The No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency." Scott is the 1st African American woman starring as the lead on HBO. The series was such a hit in Botswana, where it was filmed, that the country issued postage stamps adorned with Scott's likeness. In the past three years, Scott has revisited her role as the beleaguered wife, Sheila, in Tyler Perry's widely-successful "Why Did I Get Married Too" and starred as an alcoholic single mother trying to reconnect with her child in Lifetime's "The Sins of the Mother"- The 2nd highest rated show in the history of Lifetime.

Scott also pays it forward. In 9th year, she established Blues Babes, a Philadelphia-based philanthropic foundation that assists financially struggling but motivated students. There is also the free Camp Jill Scott that takes kids out of the concrete and surrounds them with nature.

Scott's success as a singer, songwriter, actress and poet has placed her in the rarefied world of celebrity, but Scott's gift lies in sharing stories that are heartfelt and true. MARKETING POINTS

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: santo amaro, bahia

Caetano Veloso, dubbed "one of the greatest songwriters of the century" (New York Times), is among the most influential and beloved artists to emerge from Brazil. Known there since the 1960s, Veloso has made more than 30 recordings to date and has developed a strong international following.

Born in Santo Amaro, Bahia, in 1942, Caetano Veloso began his professional musical career in 1965 in São Paulo. In his first compositions he drew on the bossa novas of João Gilberto, but rapidly began to develop his own distinctive style. Absorbing musical and aesthetic ideas from sources as diverse as The Beatles, concrete poetry, the French Dadaists, and the Brazilian modernist poets of the 1920s, Caetano, together with , Gal Costa, his sister Maria Bethânia, and a number of other poets and intellectuals, founded a movement called Tropicália. By experimenting with new sounds and words, adding electric guitars to their bands, and utilizing the imagery of modern poetry, Caetano became a musical revolutionary.

This short-lived movement, founded in 1968, ended abruptly when Caetano and Gil were sent into exile and lived in London. Now universally credited with redefining what is known as Brazilian music, it laid the groundwork for a renaissance of Brazilian popular music both at home and abroad. Caetano and Gil returned to Brazil in 1972 and found that Tropicália had remained intact and their audience had continued to grow.

Although Tropicália set the tone for Caetano's career, his music has evolved greatly over the years. Incorporating elements of rock, reggae, fado, tango, samba canão, baião, and rap-with lyrics containing some of the best poetry in a musical tradition rich in verse-Caetano's music is sometimes traditional, sometimes contemporary, often hybrid. At once an astute social commentator and balladeer of highly emotive love songs, Caetano is one of the most respected poets in the . Indeed he is one of only a handful of artists who has resolved how to be musically modern and still undeniably Brazilian.

Veloso followed his 1999 Grammy Award-winning Nonesuch release, Livro , an album which garnered widespread critical acclaim in the US and brought with it his first-ever US tour, with a soundtrack for the Carlos Diegues film Orfeu . In spring 2001, Nonesuch released Noites do Norte (Nights of the North), a meditation on themes of race, slavery, and Brazil's quest for a national identity. Later that year came Omaggio a Federico e Giulietta, a live recording made in 1997 in Rimini in honor of two masters of Italian cinema, Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masina. The following year brought another live album, a double disc recorded in Caetano's home state, called Live in Bahia, released in conjunction with the publication, by Knopf, of Caetano's long-awaited memoir, Tropical Truth: A Story of Music and Revolution in Brazil.

In September 2003, Nonesuch released The Best of Caetano Veloso, a retrospective of Veloso's work from 1989 to 2001, including a live rendition of the haunting "Cucurrucucú Paloma," featured in Pedro Almodovar's Talk to Her. The following spring came A Foreign Sound, his first all-English set, paying tribute to 20th-century American pop composers, from Cole Porter to Kurt Cobain. And in January 2007, Veloso, backed by a young Brazilian trio, created a surprisingly brash rock sound for the album Cê, about which the Boston Globe notes, "The man's voice is as richly seductive and thoughtful as ever." His lyrics "offer intellectual and cultural queries ... suffused with yearning and ambiguous eroticism."
