Diljit Dosanjh, Amrinder Gill, Jimmy Shergill, Gippy Garewal, Jassi Gill, Neeru Bajwa, Sonam Bajwa, Mandy Takhar are actors and actresses adored by their fans and songs and dances often more famous than the films themselves. So, here is the list of top five Punjabi Films or we can say the choice of youth. (1) Angrej (Released Date: 31st July) : The Romantic Comedy, Angrej the story of Geja (Amrinder Gill), who falls in live with Madho (Aditi Sharma) back in 1945. Angrej had a significant opening in India as it made 4.05 crore net in its first weekend. The movie surprised everyone. Angrej was beautifully portrayed by director Simarjeet Singh and Produced by Dara Productions. The movie shot in various picturesque locations in Punjab and Rajasthan, with special attention to details like costumes, art and the way of life of people in that era. While most movies set in historical periods, deal with more intense issues like patriotism, violence, preaching values and sentimental themes, Angrej was a light hearted comedy. Cast: Amrinder Gill, Ammy Virk, Binnu Dhillon, Aditi Sharma, Sargun Mehta, Anita Devgan, Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi, Razia Sukhbir (2) Sardaar Ji (Released Date: 26th June): The Punjabi Fantasy Movie, Sardaar Ji was a laugh riot all the way. Story written by Dheeraj Rattan opens on a fine note but when moves further it fades. The film was directed by Jatt James Bond director Rohit Jugraj, he deserves the credit of handling topic like this and making people fall in love with the characters so easily. The movie had a record opening in history of Punjabi Cinema, it opened to 100% occupancies and shattered previous openings record of Jatt & Juliet 2. Diljit Dosanjh is the most bankable star of Punjabi Film Industry, he has parallel cult as the Khans in Bollywood. As usual Diljit Dosanjh rocked the show in terms of Acting, Singing Diljit was fabulous. This film opened a new genre for Punjabi cinema called fantasy genre. Sardaarji was all about laughing and laughing. The music and songs of the movie were also a huge hit. Cast: Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Mandy Takhar, Jaswinder Bhalla, Amritpal Chotu, Sonam Bajwa (cameo) (3) Shareek (Released Date: 22nd October): Shareek a Punjabi musical drama film directed by Navaniat Singh. As we all know Jimmy Sheirgill is one of the finest actors of this industry. His performance in Shareek was the best. Music was also plus factor of the movie. All the songs were fantastic. The film was based on 3 periods – 1993-1994, 2004-2005 and 2015. Navaniat will be remembered so long for this one as his hard work can seen on screen. He proves the fact that you need not make a comedy film to entertain the Punjabi audience. Each character of the movie has it’s own importance. The film had everything emotions, action, drama, love, revenge however there were one or two incidents. Cast: Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill, Guggu Gill, Simar Gill, Oshin Sai, Mukul Dev, Kuljinder Sidhu (4) Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya (Released Date: 22nd May): OYAALG a Punjabi romantic comedy film written and directed by Raj Sinha. Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya was a sweet & sour love-story of two young hearts. They fall in love, gets married & suddenly the ego between the duo clash and they file for divorce, But as per saying Love always win. In the UK, Oh Yaara Ainvayi Ainvayi Lut Gaya garnered £9,326 in box-office receipts in its opening weekend. B-town babe Gauahar Khan marked a strong entry in Pollywood through OYAALG. Her Punjabi accent was just awesome. We saw the movie and no one said that she is speaking Punjabi for the first time. Jassi gill first time lead the movie his acting was improved, dialogue delivery was improved, facial expressions was super duper cute. In the movie Jassi Gill and Gauahar Khan was Fabulous as couple at that rumours said something was between both of them. All the songs of the movie were awesome. Cast: Jassi Gill, Gauahar Khan, B.N Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Rana Ranbir, Mukesh Sharma (cameo) (5) Rupinder Gandhi The Gangster..? (Released www.internationalnewsandviews.com Date: 11th September): Rupinder Gandhi The Gangster..? was an action & reality based daring movie in the era of comedy in Punjabi industry. It’s was a combination of good story and excellent work by everyone. First time in history of Pollywood a non-starrer movie shattered the all records on its opening day. There was no big star and singer associated with the film, no renowned director helmed this project, inspite of all this the film got such a wonderful response from the public. The movie was based on the true story of Rupinder Gandhi, an average college going boy whose friends were his life. He suffers many trials in the hands of powerful people, which turned him in to a rebel. It was debut venture of director Tarn Mann and he made commendable job and the film was Produced by Daljit Singh Bola. The music of the film was on the lips of youngsters. Everyone in the movie done a great job.
