I have a sense of urgency that the AES needs to continue to evolve. During the last several years we have made great strides in modernizing our organization and systems and are taking steps towards a more diverse and more representative membership. I would look forward to continuing this work and will encourage a focus on modern technology and workflows in our programming. We also need to foster partnerships with research and industry building on that tradition in the AES.

Local Sections are our life blood and we should work to help increase the visibility of the great things that are happening in them. We need to broadcast news and content from our offerings to new audiences by using web-based resources and innovating with programming at focused regional events everywhere.

The AES is a great platform for networking, education and an exchange of ideas about all things audio that we should work to bring to an ever-widening membership. Candidate for AES Treasurer-Elect

RICHARD WOLLRICH is currently the AES Treasurer and a member of the Society’s five-member Executive Committee.

I have closely managed real-time income and expenses for AES domestic and international conventions, conferences and symposiums, to ensure that the Society does not incur unanticipated losses.

I believe that the AES needs to identify what new technologies and practices are being used by similar organizations, and to consider how we can implement them to improve our bottom-line results.

I hope that you will consider my experience as the past AES Treasurer-Elect and now AES Treasurer, as well as my past experience in the role of Treasurer for several large organizations in the entertainment industry, together with an earned Bachelor of Science Degree in business and my sincere dedication to the AES, when considering my willingness to continue to serve the Society as Treasurer. Serving first as Treasurer and now as Vice-Chair, Paul has helped continue this focus, including outreach efforts to kindred organizations, from NARAS to acoustical societies and hi-fi clubs.

Getting his start in live sound and theatrical sound design, Paul performed almost every possible job in the industry. From system support, to sound design, to recording and producing, he has developed great relationships with audio professionals from all walks of life.

In addition to numerous freelance projects, Paul is in his 23rd season as recording engineer with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, where his work has included producing a nationally syndicated radio program and current regional TV broadcasts and live radio broadcasts.

He is currently spearheading the Live Streaming Project with Jazz Saint Louis, and will continue teaching recording to its Jazz U program. This builds on his passion for education: He has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Webster University for years, leading classes including mixing and mastering.

Optional statement:

As a member of the Board of Governors, I would like to help the organization to build the audio community, from students and hobbyists to professionals and corporations.

I would help grow the AES on a micro level which will help on a macro scale. I would like to help the national create and grow active local and Student Sections. We have a robust Section in Saint Louis with bi-monthly meetings regularly topping attendance of 20-30 people. We have done this with little expense. By increasing our local Sections, we can become more relevant to corporations again.

He joined Krix after a career in electronic at the Regency Institute of TAFE (equivalent to a U.S. two year college). His Regency Institute career gave him experience in the education and support of young professionals, and he facilitated several Women in Engineering initiatives. He began his career as a radio apprentice, radio technician, and gained a degree in Electronic Engineering while at the Philips Hendon Works in Adelaide. He has maintained a continuous interest in audio throughout his career.

He has extensive experience with electro-acoustic modelling and has developed a commercially successful range of acoustic horns, integrating them into 3-way and 4-way cinema screen systems. He holds Australian and U.S. patents on aspects of acoustic horn design. At Krix Loudspeakers he uses COMSOL Multiphysics Finite Element Analysis and SolidWorks 3D CAD extensively, and electro-acoustic measurement systems such as MLSSA, Praxis, EASERA, and the AcoustX D2. He has undertaken technical support visits to South Korea, Japan and China for Krix Loudspeakers in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2016. More recently he has developed modelling and simulation of the low frequency behavior of custom cinema installations for Krix. He is currently guiding Krix Loudspeakers through the process to attain ISO 17025 accreditation.

An AES Fellow since 2006, David Murphy has been a Vice President of the International Region for four years, a Governor for two years, and is presently a member of the AES Technical Committee TC-AC (Audio for Cinema) and Standards Committees SC-04-08 Measurement and of Sound Systems in Rooms and SC-04-03 Loudspeaker Modeling and Measurement.

He has presented papers/workshops at AES International Conventions in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, and Australian Regional Conventions in Sydney and Melbourne. He has been an active AES Member since 1987 and has been the Chair of the Adelaide Section of the AES for many years. The Section provides a forum for the local audio industry and selected interest groups and promotes education and information about all sectors of the industry. It is very active, holding 10 meetings a year, mostly presentations about technical matters, but with visits to places of interest as well.

Optional statement:

I feel that as our AES evolves, it needs a modern and energetic approach to promoting and monetizing our activities as well as the broader industrial and societal challenges we face today. In this context I feel I can support the AES Board of Governors with my knowledge and experience, and contribute to the growth of the AES. It would be a great pleasure to serve the members of the Society to further develop the organization, striving to make it accessible to all. I personally have gained much from my membership and want to be able to encourage others to join, particularly in the Asia-Pacific Region.
