Moshe Kahlon

The State of

Moshe Kahlon has been serving as the Minister of Finance since May 2015 and is the founder and chairman of the Party.

In 2014, prior to the elections for the 20th , Mr. Kahlon established the "Kulanu" Party, which went on to win 10 seats in the Knesset. In the 2019 elections, Kulanu won 4 seats.

In 2013, Kahlon founded the Center for Reforms & Leadership at Netanya College. The Center brings together researchers to consolidate reforms in order to advance the main challenges in Israeli society and economy – focusing mainly on housing and banking issues. The Center's goals are to establish and operate growth engines for the Israeli economy, advancing the economy in the present and the future and narrowing social gaps and inequality.

As a Knesset Member from the Party from 2009-2013, Mr. Kahlon served as Minster of Communications, in addition to serving as Minister of Social Affairs and Social Services from 2011-2013. During his tenure as the Minister of Communications, he initiated and executed the mobile phone reform, which increased competition by opening the market to new virtual mobile operators. This drastically reduced cellular communications prices in the market. As Minister of Social Affairs, he introduced many reforms in order to assist populations in need – including a significant increase in elderly care and support for single mothers and abused women. He further assisted the elderly community by terminating the demeaning examination that was mandatory for receiving their government allowance. In 2011, he received Israel’s Movement for the Government’s Quality “Knight of Quality Government” award.

In May 2008, Kahlon was elected in the Inner party election as the chairman of the Likud Central Committee. He was first elected to the Knesset in 2003.

Mr. Kahlon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Netanya Academic College. In 2013, he took part in the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
