It is a privilege to be a part of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference as it is one of the stronger conferences in the NAIA. With this, our student athletes face excellent competition and have the opportunity to grow through adversity and develop skills that they can take with them the rest of their lives. Trinity is an NAIA school, which means that sport is much more than having success on the field. The NAIA strives to build into student-ath- Heather Logue - Director of Athletics letes skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives through their Champions of Character program. At the heart of this program are five core values: •Integrity •Respect •Responsibility •Sportsmanship •Servant leadership It is our desire for every student-athlete to grow and develop in the core values of the NAIA. We are also part of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Asso- ciation) where we believe: •Athletics are a means to an end, not the end in themselves •The process is as important as the performance •The person (student-athlete) is more important than the program We are committed to equipping student-athletes and coaches to make a positive impact for Christ. Please join us in cheering on our Trinity Trojan Women’s Soccer team as they take the field this season. Thank you for your support! In Christ, Heather Logue Director of Athletics 2 2019 Season Review After an 11-7-3 season in 2018, with a conference tournament semifinal and NCCAA regional tournament appearance, the TIU women’s soccer program looked to return to the postseason under 23rd year head coach Patrick Gilliam. The Trojans kicked off the 2019 season with a bang in a 14-0 rout of Lincoln Christian on the road, which saw five dif- ferent players score, including Lauren Henn with a hat trick. TIU would struggle in their next five games, only claiming victory once in a 4-1 win over York College. After falling to St. Ambrose in their conference opener, Trinity rattled off four straight wins, including victories over Calumet St. Joseph, St. Xavier, Roosevelt, and 17th-ranked Trinity Christian. The Trojans would tie eventual conference champion and conference tournament Olivet Nazarene in late October, the only CCAC team to tie or defeat the Tigers that season. Following a 3-1 win at Governors State, TIU’s offense would struggle in their final two matches of the regular season, failing to score against Robert Morris and Cardinal Stritch. The Trojans clinched the seventh-seed in the CCAC Tourna- ment and would fall in a rematch with Trinity Christian by a 1-0 score. Sophomore Fatima Bustamante was selected to the CCAC All-Conference Second Team, and also earned NCCAA Third Team All-American honors. Bustamante, along with Hannah Fuchs and Kailynd Tubb also received NCCAA North-Central All-Region honors. Academically, ten Trojans were named to the CCAC All-Academic Team, with four NCCAA Scholar-Athletes being selected. 2020 Preview While the start of the 2020 TIU women’s soccer season is delayed until mid-February due to the COVID-19 pan- demic, the level of competition the Trojans are facing is expected to be challenging as ever. Trinity returns 22 players from their roster from the 2019 campaign including all-conference defender Fatima Bustamante, and All-NCCAA Region midfielder Kailynd Tubb. Five new faces join the TIU roster as in Zoe Vil- lont, Payton Siragusa, Morgan Busick, Abigail Olsson and Nicole Boudakh. TIU will open their 24th season under head coach Patrick Gilliam on February 13 as they host Lincoln College for the first time in school history. The Trojans open CCAC play one week later on February 20 at home against Gover- nors State. After a non-conference matchup with Indiana University Northwest, Trinity will
