  • En Zalla, Derio, Durango, Zornotza Y Basauri YOUTUBESKOLAK
    Se pone en marcha el proyecto “Youtubeskolak” en Zalla, Derio, Durango, Zornotza y Basauri La Diputación Foral de Bizkaia y Azkue Fundazioa van a desarrollar en octubre cursos sobre Youtube en cinco municipios de Bizkaia. La iniciativa se ha desarrollado con la colaboración de los ayuntamientos de Basauri, Durango y Amorebieta-Etxano y las mancomunidades de Enkarterri y Txorierri. Así mismo se pondrá en marcha, en octubre y noviembre, un concurso en Youtube para jóvenes de Euskal Herria de entre 13 y 16 años. La iniciativa se ha presentado el 13 de septiembre en la Euskararen Etxea de Bilbao. En el acto han participado: Lorea Bilbao, diputada de Euskara, Cultura y Deporte de la Diputación Foral de Bizkaia; Iurdana Acasuso, directora de Azkue Fundazioa; e Iban Garcia y Ane Atxutegi, jóvenes youtubers, y ambos son la imagen de la campaña puesta en marcha para promocionar el proyecto. YOUTUBESKOLAK Youtubeskolak se pone en marcha con la intención de promocionar el uso del euskara en Youtube; de hecho, Youtube es uno de los canales más utilizados por los jóvenes en su tiempo de ocio para visionar, compartir e intercambiar contenidos audiovisuales. Los participantes en la iniciativa tendrán la oportunidad de crear, editar, producir y post-producir vídeos en YouTube, y también de crear y gestionar canales. A lo largo del curso se abordarán temas muy interesantes para quienes desean convertirse en verdaderos youtubers, por ejemplo: los pasos que hay que cumplir para crear una cuenta en Youtube; dar el nombre en los canales de youtube; personalizar el perfil; realizar grabaciones y montajes; bajar música 1 y la utilización de imágenes de otras personas para post-producción; estrategias para tener más visualizaciones… Los cursos se realizarán en una única jornada de ocho horas.

    Basques in the Americas From 1492 to1892: A Chronology “Spanish Conquistador” by Frederic Remington Stephen T. Bass Most Recent Addendum: May 2010 FOREWORD The Basques have been a successful minority for centuries, keeping their unique culture, physiology and language alive and distinct longer than any other Western European population. In addition, outside of the Basque homeland, their efforts in the development of the New World were instrumental in helping make the U.S., Mexico, Central and South America what they are today. Most history books, however, have generally referred to these early Basque adventurers either as Spanish or French. Rarely was the term “Basque” used to identify these pioneers. Recently, interested scholars have been much more definitive in their descriptions of the origins of these Argonauts. They have identified Basque fishermen, sailors, explorers, soldiers of fortune, settlers, clergymen, frontiersmen and politicians who were involved in the discovery and development of the Americas from before Columbus’ first voyage through colonization and beyond. This also includes generations of men and women of Basque descent born in these new lands. As examples, we now know that the first map to ever show the Americas was drawn by a Basque and that the first Thanksgiving meal shared in what was to become the United States was actually done so by Basques 25 years before the Pilgrims. We also now recognize that many familiar cities and features in the New World were named by early Basques. These facts and others are shared on the following pages in a chronological review of some, but by no means all, of the involvement and accomplishments of Basques in the exploration, development and settlement of the Americas.

Sus últimos proyectos realizados a lo largo de 2018 son la instalación “Fuera de tiempo / Fuera de Lugar” en la Sala Horno de la Ciudadela de Pamplona-Iruñea y “Tiro vertical / Secuencias de Descarga” en la Sala Torre de Ariz de Basauri. Entre 2016 y 2017 presentó “Línea de referencia en sustitución de la tangente inferior” dentro de las Jornadas de Puertas Abiertas de la Fundación Bilbaoarte, proyecto realizado con una beca de producción otorgada por el centro. Y la intervención urbana “Agitando las aguas”, seleccionada y financiada por el Festival Kaldarte en Caldas de Reis. Así mismo desarrolló la propuesta instalativa “Doble Derrumbe” en el espacio CASYC_UP de Caja Cantabria en Santander. Y la intervención titulada “En suspensión” para CasaGalería en México DF, subvencionada con la Beca de Difusión Cultural del Instituto Etxepare. En 2015 fue galardona con el Primer Premio de Fotografía en el Certamen Nacional de Arte Pancho Cossío, por su intenso recorrido como artista emergente, específicamente con propuestas vinculadas a la fotografía.     HARVARD DESIGN SCHOOL THE VISION OF A GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM IN BILBAO In a March 31, 1999 article, the Washington Post? posed the following question: "Can a single building bring a whole city back to life? More precisely, can a single modern building designed for an abandoned shipyard by a laid-back California architect breath new economic and cultural life into a decaying industri- al city in the Spanish rust belt?" Still, the issues addressed by the article illustrate only a small part of the multifaceted Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao. A thorough study of how this building was conceived and made reveals equally significant aspects such as getting the best from the design architect, the master handling of the project by an inexperienced owner, the pivotal role of the executive architect-project man- ager, the dependence on local expertise for construction, the transformation of the architectural profession by information technology, the budgeting and scheduling of an unprecedented project without sufficient information. Read, Ph. D., Dean, Graduate School May, 2013 i Abstract A centenarian Basque soccer club, Athletic Club (Bilbao) is the ethnographic locus of this dissertation. From a center of the Industrial Revolution, a major European port of capitalism and the birthplace of Basque nationalism and political violence, Bilbao turned into a post-Fordist paradigm of globalization and gentrification. Beyond traditional axes of identification that create social divisions, what unites Basques in Bizkaia province is a soccer team with a philosophy unique in the world of professional sports: Athletic only recruits local Basque players. Playing local becomes an important source of subjectivization and collective identity in one of the best soccer leagues (Spanish) of the most globalized game of the world. This dissertation takes soccer for a cultural performance that reveals relevant anthropological and sociological information about Bilbao, the province of Bizkaia, and the Basques. Early in the twentieth century, soccer was established as the hegemonic sports culture in Spain and in the Basque Country; it has become a multi- billion business, and it serves as a powerful political apparatus and symbolic capital.

    TPR, 88 (1) 2017 https://doi.org/10.3828/tpr.2017.8 Simón Sánchez-Moral The mobility of ‘creative workers’ and their potential contribution to the recovery of old industrial cities in Spain Strategies of attraction and retention of talent are gaining importance in the policy agendas of Spanish old industrial cities. However, since more evidence is needed regarding the effectiveness of these approaches this study begins by analysing the stocks and flows of ‘creative workers’ within the urban system. The inspection of a sample of their working histories confirms the capacity of this workforce to transform the nine studied cities by upgrading local human capital levels, fostering pecuniary externalities or improving local institutional frameworks. Nevertheless, some of these effects appear somehow blurred by low-skilled immigration and the dualisation of the labour market. Keywords: urban shrinkage, talent, mobility, labour trajectories, urban resilience Introduction Innovation and creativity have been emphasised as the main drivers of urban development in the context of globalisation and the cultural-cognitive economy (Scott, 2008). This has important implications for cities striving to ‘reinvent’ themselves in the context of global economic restructuring (Bontje and Musterd, 2008), including the outstanding case of old industrial cities. These have been characterised in the international literature by long-term population decline and symptoms of economic structural crisis (Fol and Cunningham-Sabot, 2010; Power et al., 2010). Although some interrelated effects of urban shrinkage do not offer the best pre- conditions for a recovery based on culture and creativity (i.e. out-migration, lack of job opportunities or initial physical urban decay), many old industrial cities started some time ago to use urban cultural policy within their revitalisation strategies to support the transition toward a ‘post-industrial city’ (Aber and Yahagi, 2014).
