The yield of the oil is 0.3 mL/100 g. The essential oil composition of T. parviflorum was studied and 38 components representing 89.4 % of the total oil were identified. The main components of T. parviflorum were β- farnesene (18.4 %), β-sesquiphellandrene (10.1 %), carvacrol methyl ether (7.9 %) and benzene acetaldehyde (7.2 %). The chemical distribution of essential oil compounds of Tripleurospermum parviflorum was discussed as potential uses of this species as natural product. It had not been collected since its introduction to scientific community in 1895. In 2007, T. heterolepis was rediscovered in its type locality. Based on its syntypes deposited at B and G as well as the new specimens collected from the type locality, a misdescription of the species in the Flora of Turkey and the East Aegean Islands is also reported. A new description of T. heterolepis, amended and extended, is presented here, and its updated conservation status is indicated. The diagnostic morphological characters that distinguish the species from its close relatives are discussed. Key words: Compositae, Flora of Turkey, morphology, taxonomy Introduction Tripleurospermum Schultz Bipontinus (1844: 31) is a small genus of the tribe Anthemideae of the family Asteraceae with ca. 40 species that is mainly distributed in Europe, temperate Asia, North America and North Africa (Oberprieler et al. 2007, Himmelreich et al. 2008). It is also difficult to determine the exact number of species without a monographical treatment of the whole genus because its species have often been referred to other Anthemideae genera such as Anthemis Linnaeus (1753: 893), Chamaemelum Miller (1754: 315), Chrysanthemum Linnaeus (1753: 887), Matricaria Linnaeus (1753: 890) and Tanacetum Linnaeus (1753: 843) (Pobedimova 1995, Inceer & Hayırlıoglu-Ayaz 2010, Inceer & Hayırlıoglu-Ayaz 2014). -

Mihail Sadoveanu, nr. 3, 700490–Iaşi, Romania Corresponding author: [email protected] This second part of the paper about the vascular flora of Rarău Massif listed approximately half of the whole number of the species registered by the authors in their field trips or already included in literature on the same area. Other taxa have been added to the initial list of plants, so that, the total number of taxa registered by the authors in Rarău Massif amount to 1443 taxa (1133 species and 310 subspecies, varieties and forms). There was signaled out the alien taxa on the surveyed area (18 species) and those dubious presence of some taxa for the same area (17 species). Also, there were listed all the vascular plants, protected by various laws or regulations, both internal or international, existing in Rarău (i.e. 189 taxa). Finally, there has been assessed the degree of wild flora conservation, using several indicators introduced in literature by Nowak, as they are: conservation indicator (C), threat conservation indicator) (CK), sozophytisation indicator (W), and conservation effectiveness indicator (E). The same classification systems are used to arrange the botanical collections of the Tasmanian Herbarium and by the Flora of Australia series published by the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS). KAY Department of Botany, University College of Swansea ABSTRACT Population samples of sea mayweed (Tripleurospermum maritimum (L.) Koch) collected from 32 maritime sites in the British Isles showed a wide range of morphological variation in simultaneous cultivation at Oxford, and remained distinct from scentless mayweed (T. inodorum (L.) Schultz Bip.). All were diploid (2n = 18, 18 + B, or 18 + 2B). Plants from beach sites generally had fairly long, branching stems, brush-like or rather fleshy leaves, and strongly inflated achenes; the stems were prostrate in plants from exposed beaches but ascending or erect in plants from more sheltered sites. Plants from cliff sites were generally short-stemmed, with fleshy leaves and less inflated achenes. Most characters were substantially retained in cultivation. Plants from the Atlantic coast of Europe from north Portugal to southern England characterised by strong purple pigmentation and narrower leaf segments are referred to T. maritimum subsp. maritimum var. salinum (Wallr.) Kay, comb. novo Natural selection appears to maintain the distinctive characters of some local populations despite gene-flow from other populations and from T. inodorum. Local populations are often very small, and genetic drift may be an important factor affecting variation. INTRODUCTION The sea may weed, Tripleurospermum maritimum (L.)
