  • Consumer Propensity Report by Category
Consumer Propensity Report Marketing and Merchandising Intelligence for Local Business The Consumer Propensity Report (CPR) shows the lifestyle, product, and psychographic likelihood indices for the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Major retail, restaurant, grocery, and consumer packaged goods firms use this very same information to drive marketing and merchandising decisions. Each analyzed item is assigned a propensity index score with 100 being average. For example, if the consumers within a trade score a 120 for a given analysis item you know that those consumers are 20% more likely to participate in or purchase that item than the average American household. A propensity index score of 80 would indicate that those consumers would be 20% less likely than the average American household to participate in or purchase that item. Information is provided for 32 major categories with over 4,800 total line items. Please note that line items are based upon national‐level purchasing and lifestyle characteristics. These line items are then correlated to the underlying household characteristics of the consumers within the trade area being analyzed. Some line items may not be necessarily relevant or available currently in your market or region. The index score in these situations serves to indicate the degree to which the consumers would participate in or purchase that item if it were relevant and available. Often this is taken as an opportunity for expansion of a similar brand or concept within the category. CPR Categories Apparel

  • The History of Kraft Foods Inc
The History of Kraft Foods Inc. All About Kraft Learn everything there is to know about Kraft: like who we are, how you can reach us and what we’re doing in your community. Kraft Foods Inc. is a company with many different roots and founders, all sharing a commitment to quality, a willingness to take risks and a spirit of innovation. Among the products now sold by Kraft Foods Inc. are so many “firsts” and innovations that a history of the company is almost a history of the food industry. Kraft traces its history to three of the most successful food entrepreneurs of the late 19th and early 20th centuries — J.L. Kraft, who started his cheese business in 1903; C.W. Post, who founded Postum Cereal Company (later renamed General Foods Corporation) in 1895; and Oscar Mayer, who began his meat business in 1883. The Story of J.L. Kraft The history of KRAFT goes back to 1903, when, with $65 in capital, a rented wagon and a horse named Paddy, J.L. Kraft started purchasing cheese at Chicago’s Water Street wholesale market and reselling it to local merchants. Within a short time, four of J.L. Kraft’s brothers joined him in the business, and, in 1909, they incorporated as J.L. Kraft & Bros. Co. In 1914, J.L. Kraft and his brothers purchased their first cheese factory in Stockton, Illinois. In 1915, they began producing processed cheese in 3-1/2 and 7-3/4 ounce tins. J.L. Kraft’s method of producing processed cheese was so revolutionary, in 1916 he obtained a patent for it and in 1917 the company started supplying cheese in tins to the U.S.

UC Santa Barbara Journal of Transnational American Studies Title Chop Suey as Imagined Authentic Chinese Food: The Culinary Identity of Chinese Restaurants in the United States Permalink https://escholarship.org/uc/item/2bc4k55r Journal Journal of Transnational American Studies, 1(1) Author Liu, Haiming Publication Date 2009-02-16 DOI 10.5070/T811006946 Peer reviewed eScholarship.org Powered by the California Digital Library University of California Chop Suey as Imagined Authentic Chinese Food: The Culinary Identity of Chinese Restaurants in the United States HAIMING LIU Introduction In the small hours of one morning in 1917, John Doe, a white laborer, strolled into the Dragon Chop Suey House at 630 West Sixth Street, Los Angeles, and ordered chicken chop suey. The steaming bowl was set before Mr. Doe by a grinning Japanese. “I won’t eat it,” barked Mr. Doe, “There’s no poultry in it.” The flying squad was called in and was happily annoyed at this midnight incident. The officers offered to act as a jury and demanded sample bowls of chop suey. The Japanese owner declined and Mr. Doe was free to go.1 The laborer demanded real meat, the officers wanted free meals, and the owner of this Chinese restaurant was actually Japanese, but everyone was thoroughly familiar with the concept of chop suey. As this story shows, by 1917 chop suey was a well‐known restaurant meal in America. Food is a cultural tradition. The popularity of Chinese restaurants reflects how an Asian cuisine was transplanted and developed in American society. Chinese migration was a transnational flow of people, social networks, and cultural values.
