Thank You President Trump Thank You President Trump conservativeactionproject.com/thank-you-president-trump/ January 13, 2020 January 13, 2020 Washington, DC Dear President Trump, On behalf of the conservative movement, we would like to thank you for the accomplishments your administration has achieved on behalf of the American people. From a booming economy, to stronger protections at the border, to implementing strong protections for the unborn, to nominating constitutionalist judges to the federal bench, you have kept your promises to the voters that elected you. Specifically, we want to applaud you for the following achievements: A booming economy that has unemployment at its lowest level in fifty years, the highest median household income on record, a labor force that has grown by 2.1 million. 1/11 Poverty rates for African Americans, Asian Americans, and Hispanic Americans at record lows, and unemployment among women is at its lowest level in nearly 70 years. Aggressively working to address the opioid crisis. Signing the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 which resulted in more than 6 million American works receiving wage increases, bonuses, and increased benefits. Rolling back nearly 8 regulations for every significant new one and cutting regulatory costs by more than $50 billion. Repealing two particularly onerous regulations: the Obama-era Waters of the U.S. rule, and the Obama-era “Clean Power” Plan, and revoking California’s emissions waiver, all of which cost Americans millions of dollars and thousands of jobs. Withdrawing America from the Paris climate treaty, which saved American families $20,000 a year. Opening up federal lands and offshore areas to fossil fuel development and permitting the pipelines and infrastructure necessary to facilitate further development. Signing the 2019 Executive Order to stop agency abuse of guidance documents. Working to re-negotiate the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement to update the North American Free Trade Agreement and secure a better deal for American workers. Keeping your campaign promise to build a new wall at the southern border. Striking agreements with Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to help stop our illegal immigration crisis. Taking action to reduce exploitation of our asylum loopholes, ensuring that the asylum process is there for those who truly need it. Increasing cooperation with local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws. Signing the Choice and Accountability Act to update and reform the Veteran’s Administration. Ensuring strong protections of the Second Amendment. 2/11 A defeated ISIS caliphate and killing of terrorist leaders al-Baghdadi and Qassem Soleimani, both of whom were responsible for the deaths of Americans. Recognizing Israel’s capital as Jerusalem and opening an American Embassy there, as well as recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Withdrawing the United States from the ineffective and dangerous 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Rebuilding America’s military, including instituting a Space Force, and supporting America’s men and women in uniform. Appointing and securing confirmation for 187 federal judges who are strong constitutionalists. Signing the 2017 Executive Order on Protecting Religious Liberty and the 2019 Executive Order protecting free speech on college campuses. Ensuring that faith-based ministries do not have to choose between violating their religious beliefs by complying with Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate, or closing their doors. Establishing a new Conscience and Religious Freedom division at the Department of Health and Human Services to direct the agency’s efforts to protect religious freedom and people of faith in the healthcare industry. Proposing a rule protecting the conscience rights of faith-based adoption providers. Being the first administration to host a meeting at the United Nations on religious freedom. Reinstating the Mexico City Policy to end federal funding of groups that promote or perform abortion overseas. Restricting Title X money from going to organizations that perform, promote, or refer for abortion, while continuing to promote women’s health care by funding organizations who do not. Allowing state Medicaid directors to exclude abortion providers from their Medicaid programs. Ending funding of new medical research using human fetal tissue obtained from elective abortions. 3/11 Re-issuing guidance stating that hospitals may be required to treat infants born alive after abortions. Opposing efforts at the United Nations to make abortion an international human right. Hiring strong conservatives for important positions within the White House. Hiring strong conservatives for important positions within the White House. We are proud to support the work of your administration and these tremendous achievements. Foreign policy issues were chosen as test cases because the presidency has more power in this area which is why it could promote an aggressive stance toward the United Nations and encourage withdrawal from UNESCO with little impunity. Chapter 1 deals with American society after 1945. It shows how the ground was set for the rise of Reagan and the New Right as America moved from a strong affinity with New Deal liberalism to a new form of conservatism, which the New Right and Reagan epitomised. Chapter 2 analyses the New Right as a coalition of three distinctive groups: anti-liberals, New Christian Right, and neoconservatives.

  • Conservative Movement
Conservative Movement How did the conservative movement, routed in Barry Goldwater's catastrophic defeat to Lyndon Johnson in the 1964 presidential campaign, return to elect its champion Ronald Reagan just 16 years later? What at first looks like the political comeback of the century becomes, on closer examination, the product of a particular political moment that united an unstable coalition. In the liberal press, conservatives are often portrayed as a monolithic Right Wing. Close up, conservatives are as varied as their counterparts on the Left. Indeed, the circumstances of the late 1980s -- the demise of the Soviet Union, Reagan's legacy, the George H. W. Bush administration -- frayed the coalition of traditional conservatives, libertarian advocates of laissez-faire economics, and Cold War anti- communists first knitted together in the 1950s by William F. Buckley Jr. and the staff of the National Review. The Reagan coalition added to the conservative mix two rather incongruous groups: the religious right, primarily provincial white Protestant fundamentalists and evangelicals from the Sunbelt (defecting from the Democrats since the George Wallace's 1968 presidential campaign); and the neoconservatives, centered in New York and led predominantly by cosmopolitan, secular Jewish intellectuals. Goldwater's campaign in 1964 brought conservatives together for their first national electoral effort since Taft lost the Republican nomination to Eisenhower in 1952. Conservatives shared a distaste for Eisenhower's "modern Republicanism" that largely accepted the welfare state developed by Roosevelt's New Deal and Truman's Fair Deal. Undeterred by Goldwater's defeat, conservative activists regrouped and began developing institutions for the long haul.

Ring with the harmonies of Liberty; Let our rejoicing rise, High as the list’ning skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Stony the road we trod, Bitter the chast’ning rod, Felt in the day that hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, Have not our weary feet, Come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come, over a way that with tears has been watered, We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Here now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

  • Letter: MLK, Yes — CRT, No: a Response to Christ Church
Letter: MLK, Yes — CRT, No: A Response to Christ Church To the Editor: As Christians, we are disheartened that people identifying as Christian would so highhandedly misappropriate the words of Doctor Martin Luther King. Perhaps the most famous quote of Doctor King is “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” This is the message that CRG supports. Nothing in what CRG wrote or stands for embraces racism, disrespect, or unfair behavior of any kind. Nothing we wrote suggested that people are not interconnected. Commenters are entitled to their own opinions. They are not entitled to their own facts. The world view based on Critical Race Theory (CRT), criticized by Citizens for Responsible Government, judges all individuals based on the color of their skin. It proclaims that white people are oppressors and people of color are victims. According to CRT that’s all you need to know to judge your neighbor. CRG opposes that idea. What could possibly be more racist, more divisive, or more in contradiction to the unifying message of Martin Luther King? In addition, the basic fallacy in the letter from Christ Church members is simple and obvious. The United States of the 2020s is a very different place from the United States of the 1960s. It takes a bit of hubris to suggest that you know where Dr. King would stand today. Jim Crow is gone. The Civil Rights Act was passed.
