Encouraging wildlife and wild places. 2 Having a number of large number of different species in the large area. For example I have a large variety of Bio-diversity in my garden. Having lots of different species of animals and vegetation. Having various plants and animals around. How diverse the animals are. How diverse the population is within the environment, species. How many different species you have in a certain area (animals & plants). I understand it to mean creatures in an area and small animals and plants - all things living. Is it the loss of plants and animals? It relates to the different types of living things. It the Flora and Fauna of the earth. It's a diversity of species and environment. It's a range of animal and plant life. It's all about different types of living things. Its diverse biology. Its the flora and fauna in that area. It's the variety of plants and animals and the natural environment. Keep the amount of species that we have at a healthy level. Keeping a certain range of species, a broad range of wildlife. Keeping flora and fauna alive. Living things and the difference between them. Lots of different species living in the same place. Lots of diverse plants and organisms. Maintaining a balance of natural species as much as possible. Means biology, plants and animals and their different environments. A change in the structure of the planet, in the gases etc. A greener alternative to what we are using at the moment. About developing your lifestyle to be greener. All to do with climate changing and the natural resources of that area. An alternative way of growing food without pesticides. Basically having to use scientific research into various ways of living and helping the environment. Being able to use ecological resources in a different way. Caring for the environment. Changing aspects of society, to be more responsible for the environment. Changing attitudes towards green policies. Changing something so that it doesn't do any damage. Changing things for greener ways. Different alternatives to whatever we are using, carbon emissions etc. Different kinds of environment, and what not Different levels of environmental awareness. Different range of options friendly to the earth. Different things to help the environment. Different things within the environment Different ways and different views on the environment and how to put it right. Different ways of doing things and producing things that will not harm the environment. Different ways of protecting or saving the environment. Different ways of using things that doesn't harm the environment. Different ways of using things to help the environment. Different ways you can conserve or damage the environment and what health issues you can raise depending on how we manage our lives. Diverse ways of being environmentally friendly. Diversifying in an environmental friendly way. Diversifying into things which are better for the planet. Diversion in the environment. Don't do something soon, there will be nothing left. Mmm, this chocolate doughnut Sunderland Winter Gardens and Museum Sunderland museum first opened almost 150 years ago The Winter Gardens is a museum, we know that because the museum is old. Finding out about the museum Jenny told us all about the museum This is Wallace the lion, he is nearly 150 years old. When the museum first opened children who were blind could visit the museum to feel his fur. Coal mining in Sunderland I would not like to work in the mine Life as a coal miner Working in the mines was dangerous. This family has had to leave their home because their dad was killed in the mine. Inside the Winter Gardens William Pye made this ‘Water Sculpture’ Penshaw Monument Look at the view Penshaw Monument from the top was built in 1844 On Easter Splat! Monday In 1926 a 15 year old boy called Temperley Arthur Scott fell from the top of Penshaw We climbed to Monument and the top of the died. monument It was a cold Winter’s day when Herrington Country Park we visited the park.     Building Offshore Wind in England CORE: Centres for Offshore Renewable Engineering BUSINESS IS 2 Building Offshore Wind in England Ministerial Foreword Offshore wind is a UK success story and the UK is open for business. The UK is the world leader in offshore wind. We have more offshore wind installed than anywhere else in the world. We are an island nation, blessed with strong winds and shallow seas – and this energy resource is on our doorstep. We are determined to move to cleaner electricity generation and offshore wind has an important role to play in our long term plan for a balanced, low carbon energy mix. I want the UK to secure the economic benefits of this new industry. Through our offshore wind industrial strategy, the Government is committed to working in partnership with business to build a competitive, innovative UK supply chain for offshore wind, delivering jobs and economic growth. Building a strong supply chain needs the commitment and expertise of local partners, working alongside central government to support businesses who want to invest here. The Centres for Offshore Renewable Engineering (CORE) partnership offers an integrated and cooperative approach between Government and Local Enterprise Partnerships in England, to provide the best possible support to businesses choosing England as an investment location. The Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP Minister of State for Business, Enterprise and Energy CORE brings together the relevant expertise from UK Central Government and the six major investment hubs in England to support business growth and showcase opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI) for the offshore wind sector.

The site is on the urban fringe of • Lies immediately to the rear of Wordsworth Crescent and Beech Grove Owner/developer: Hellens the village and would have limited impact on urban • Lies on elevated farmland to the north of Mount Lane sprawl and countryside encroachment. Site size: 3.20 ha • Existing residential communities to the north and east • Arable land to the south and west • Close proximity to the centre of Springwell Village (which includes shops and a primary school) • Good access to the main bus route Key constraints • Bowes Railway is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and is located to the west of the site • Springwell Ponds Local Wildlife Site (LWS) is situated to the west of the site which includes protected species. Wildlife will move through the site • The site is relatively level however the land beyond slopes southward toward Mount Lane • Development on the southern edge of the site will be subject to long distant views • Vehicle and pedestrian access to the site is restricted to one access point • Highway junction improvements will be required at Mount Lane • Development would have to ensure that additional infrastructure such as
