A total of 22 Welsh-speaking representatives from organisations as diverse as British Transport Police, the Health service, Careers Wales, Cardiff University and Deloittes accountants, amongst others, spent the day sharing their experiences with year 9 pupils. Our pupils were able to approach the visitors with questions about entry requirements to the different disciplines and to learn how a knowledge of Welsh is an advantage in the world of work in present-day Wales. As a result, pupils are more conversant with, and aware of, the reasons for studying and achieving a qualification in Welsh for their future work. One pupil said that she wanted to be an architect. The conference had shown her the importance of heritage and how it should influence the buildings she will design.
