TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT (TSPD) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Accounting Separation Guidelines, 2007 The Accounting Separation Guidelines, 2007 issued by PTA, requires the sizeable licensees (telecom operators) to establish and maintain separated/regulatory Accounts. Initially, the CMAs were not included as auditors for auditing the separated accounts maintained by the operators. The National Council, practicing members and TSPD Directorate very effectively and persuasively initiated the case with the authority (PTA) and after threadbare discussions and follow- ups, the authority (PTA) finally recognized CMAs as auditors for auditing the separated/regulatory accounts maintained by the operators under the Accounting Separation Guidelines, 2007. Recognition of the Cost and Management Accountants as a qualified auditors for auditing of separated/regulatory Accounts of telecom operators is indeed a recognition of the services of the Management Accountants and efforts of the National Council of ICMA Pakistan and officials of the Institute.
