e Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy Bad Girls: Agency, Revenge, and Redemption in Contemporary Drama Courtney Watson, Ph.D. Radford University Roanoke, Virginia, United States [email protected] ABSTRACT Cultural movements including #TimesUp and #MeToo have contributed momentum to the demand for and development of smart, justified female criminal characters in contemporary television drama. These women are representations of shifting power dynamics, and they possess agency as they channel their desires and fury into success, redemption, and revenge. Building on works including Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, dramas produced since 2016—including The Handmaid’s Tale, Ozark, and Killing Eve—have featured the rise of women who use rule-breaking, rebellion, and crime to enact positive change. Behavior that once may have been dismissed as madness or instability—Beyoncé laughing wildly while swinging a baseball bat in her revenge-fantasy music video “Hold Up” in the wake of Jay-Z’s indiscretions comes to mind—can be examined with new understanding. -

''Sexuality is fluid''[1] a close reading of the first two seasons of the series, analysing them from the perspectives of both feminist theory and queer theory. It or is it? An analysis of television's The L Word from the demonstrates that even though the series deconstructs the perspectives of gender and sexuality normative boundaries of both gender and sexuality, it can also be said to maintain the ideals of a heteronormative society. Magdalen asylums in Australia James Franklin* A staple of extreme Protestant propaganda in the first half of the twentieth century was the accusation of ‘convent slave laundries’. NEWS BBC “Casualty” Infopoint help-points on BBC “Casualty” Infopoint has lent two help-points to the BBC television series ‘Casualty’. Ben Clarke, Project Manager, was approached by the show’s Series Designer for the loan of the help-points, to be located in the main entrance corridor and on the reception desk. Infopoint was happy to help and quickly arranged for the help-points - an Infopoint 6 and an Infopoint 3 - to be delivered to the BBC set in Cardiff. Owain Williams, BBC Casualty Series Designer, said, “As part of our role at BBC Casualty, the art department supply the equipment required to fulfill the demands of the script. We try to keep up-to-date with the most used healthcare equipment but we have limited budgets. Using companies like Infopoint is invaluable to achieving our aim of producing high quality, cutting edge drama.” The Infopoint 3 on the reception desk and the Infopoint 6 in the main entrance corridor have featured in many episodes of the last two series of the show. Ben Clarke, Infopoint Project Manager, said, “We were proud to be approached and more than happy to lend this equipment to the BBC. Infopoint help-points are an almost standard fixture in UK A&E departments so this helps to make the show more true to life.” The weekly TV series is the longest-running emergency medical drama in the World, having broadcast its first episode in 1986. “We chose Infopoint as they are market leaders. We were extremely happy with their positive response and subsequent involvement, which has allowed us create a very realistic A&E environment.”. -

The tables are compiled from various Department of Defense (DOD) sources. Wars covered include the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, and the Persian Gulf War. 1 Mass Casualty Trauma Triage - Paradigms and Pitfalls EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Emergency medical services (EMS) providers arrive on the scene of a mass casualty incident (MCI) and implement triage, moving green patients to a single area and grouping red and yellow patients using triage tape or tags. Patients are then transported to local hospitals according to their priority group. Tagged patients arrive at the hospital and are assessed and treated according to their priority. Though this triage process may not exactly describe your agency’s system, this traditional approach to MCIs is the model that has been used to train American EMS As a nation, we’ve got a lot providers for decades.
