FLYERS VS. ISLANDERS

This is the seventh of eight games between the clubs this season and the second of three this month. The teams have gone beyond regulation in four of the six games played so far.

The Flyers and Islanders have a history of big season series against one another. They first met eight times in a year in the 1978-79 season. It happened again in 1981-82, and then the teams went on a decade of seven Patrick Division battles per season through 1992-93, meeting nine times in that final campaign. They also met eight times in each of the first three seasons following the 2005 realignment.

The Flyers and Islanders had never met fewer than four times in a season until last year, when they only played three times in the regular season due to losing the final meeting to the COVID-19 shutdown. The Flyers went 0-2-1, which marked the first time since the Islanders joined the league in 1972 that they did not pick up at least one regular season win against them.
