CLERGY FATHER ANTONIO CACCIAPUOTI Pastor FATHER ALBERT BAHHUTH Priest-In-Residence FATHER TONY MARTI, OFM Cap. Weekend Presider AUGIE WON Permanent Deacon 10 Reasons Why Catholics Don’t Have to Worry

Worry comes when we feel powerless to affect our circumstances. For example, when we hear about layoffs or foreclosures around our locale, we worry that we might be next. Yet Catholics know that freedom from worry comes with knowing that God is in control and trusting him to do what’s best. We know that he loves us, wants the best for us, and is taking good care of us. “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28).

1. God loves each of us deeply. He doesn’t want us to suffer and is ready to fix whatever may be wrong. The key is to trust his love and know that no matter what happens, he won’t leave you alone. “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you” (Isaiah 49:15). 2. We believe in miracles. No matter how hopeless a situation may appear, we know that miracles happen every day. “… but for God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). 3. Our faith keeps us going. When you feel yourself starting to worry, act out your belief that your prayer for serenity will be answered. When you find yourself thinking fearful, negative thoughts, substitute positive, cheerful ones. “Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4) 4. Our prayers are always answered. A close, prayerful relationship with God will bring answers – if we ask. “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7). 5. Blessings come even in bad times. The best thing to do when worried is to focus on what is good in your life. For example, spend time with loved ones, exercise with gratitude for your health, share what you have with people who need it. Noticing and appreciating the gifts God gives you will remind you of his constant, loving presence in your life. 6. God knows best. Pursuing goals like wealth or personal acclaim without first seeking God’s approval leads to failure. There is no peace in going against God’s will. Instead, be open and place all your hopes, plans, and efforts at God’s feet. Let him decide what is best for you. 7. Acceptance brings peace. Catholics learn to live with what we cannot control. When you let God help you come to terms with what can’t be changed, you have the peace acceptance brings. 8. The Church provides answers. It isn’t always easy to discern God’s will, so Jesus created the to help. When you need answers, turn to Scripture. Or, talk to your priest, deacon or other religious. After all, helping us grow closer to God is what they do best. 9. We are always in the Divine Presence. Seek frequent opportunities to make yourself aware of him. God walks with us through the messy parts of our lives and encourages us when we worry. Be watchful for his presence. 10. Worry is wearing. If you worry too much, it impacts your relationships, your health, your peace. Try to stay calm for your sake as well as for those around you. “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad” (Proverbs 12:25). Parent Ed Annual Trip to Underwood Family Farm

Parent Ed looks forward to attending the annual pumpkin patch event at Underwood Family Farms. Classes arrive at the pumpkin patch and enjoy a tractor-driven wagon ride around the property where families see varieties of orange and avocado trees, fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and olallieberries, vegetables such as lettuce, bell peppers, parsley, cilantro, etc. Children enjoy finding the scarecrows as they are pulled in the wagon. Once at the pumpkin patch, Instructor, Jo Ann Gantus teaches a hands-on lesson about how pumpkins grow. Everyone has a wonderful time enjoying each other’s company and choosing a sugar pumpkin from the patch!
