Azaleas are a very common shrub that come in a variety of colors – from white to pink to purple to coral.

one of the signs that spring has arrived is when the yellow flowers of buttercup fill pastures. this plant often flourishes in over grazed pasture fields with poor stands of desirable forages. Allowing livestock to overgraze fields during the fall and winter months is one of the main factors that con - tribute to buttercup problems. so, pasture management practices that improve and promote growth of desirable plants during these months is one of the best methods to help compete against the emergence and growth of this plant. from a strictly aes - thetic view, they are lovely.

bluets are another dainty spring wild - flower, with petite mounds of sky blue (or white) flowers. botanically called Hous - tonia caerulea , bluets in the garden are an effective ground cover. easily trans - planted, the gardener can use wildflower bluets to encircle stepping stones, line gar - den pathways or accompany other peren - nial wildflowers in the garden. they prefer moist, organic soil that is slightly acidic. umbrella plants, aka may apples, pop up in late march and early April in wooded areas, but typically bloom in late April, early may.
