Chapter 6 Meeting Miss Trotwood Part 1 Summary This story is about a boy named David who after his father's death lived happily with his mother until she married Mr. Mudstone. He was not a kind man and his equally unkind sister also came to live with them. Then David's mother passed away. Then his stepfather and his sister ill-treated David. They made him work in a factory instead of sending him to school. So, David decided to meet his only living relative his aunt, Miss Betsey Trotwood.

He had to walk every step of the way, he slept under haystacks at night . His clothes were all torn stained with heat and soil and his hat was battered. He had not even combed his hair since he left London. In this condition, he waited outside his aunt's house.

As Miss Betsey came out of her house, on seeing the boy she said, " Go along! No boys here! " He went and stood beside her softly and informed her that he was his nephew.

" I am , of Blunderstone in Suffolk, where you came when I was born. I have been very unhappy since my mom died. I have been taught nothing and made to work instead of being sent to school. It made me to run away to you and I have walked all the way and have not slept in bed since I began the journey."

His aunt happily accepted him and took him inside, offered him some clothes and tonics. Later she called his stepfather and his sister and scolded them for treating David badly. She did not let him go with them and became his guardian.

She named him Trotwood Copperfield and sent him to Canterbury, a very nice school. There he stayed at the house of his aunt's old lawyer and his daughter Agnes became friends with him.

His first few days at school were rough as he had forgotten all he learnt but gradually he became used to it.
