While at Bradmore he carted bricks to build Stanton on the Wolds railway tunnel using horse and cart. Lived at Rufford Lodge 1870-1900, then moved to Bonsers Farm. 1870 quoted as appointed tenant of Mrs Harriet Forteath as at 6.4.1870, at the farm opposite the chapel later called Rufford Lodge, which he took over from Levi Sharp. 1871 age 31, farmer of 67 acres married to Sarah, with children Clara H and William O, his father William, widower, and servants Charles Hand, George Leverton, Emma Henson (Bradmore 1871/21). At Mary’s death, property to go to son Thomas. Also left to Mary the closes or grounds inclosed at Wymeswold, 13 acres in the occupation of John Voce, 2 other closes in Wymeswold and a house and garden of about 4 acres in the occupation of John Smith, another close at Wymeswold of 2½ acres in the occupation of Thomas Fox, and a close at East Leake of 3 acres with house and hereditaments in the occupation of Henry Follows. Married Mary Dalby of Bradmore, 9.3.1830, witnessed by Henry Dalby. 1831 in Whites Directory as joiner, also in 1844. Signed Constable’s Accounts 1832-3. On electoral roll 1840/1-1870 with freehold houses in Ruddington value £50+ rent pa, and in Bradmore 1868/9-1870 in category £12+ rent pa. 1841 age 41, farmer, with Mary Dalby age 42 recorded as married to Thomas and children Thomas and John, in his mother’s house (Bradmore 1841/16). Probably this Thomas Rowbotham who signed the Sunday School accounts 1841 and 1846. 1848 had 10/6 from the Constable for work done, and 1848 had 1/- for keeping the Constables Accounts. 1851 age 52, householder, carpenter with one employee, married to Mary, with son Thomas and niece Mary Ann Dalby, daughter of Mary’s brother Henry (Bradmore 1851/56). 1853 Whites Directory, joiner. 1855 Kellys Directory, carpenter. 1861 age 62, carpenter and farmer of 21 acres, married to Mary, with servant Sarah Garton, probably on site of Orchard House, Farmer St. (Bradmore 1861/19). 1864 Whites Directory, joiner. 1867 Bunny estate rental, as Thomas Senior, renting house, garden and orchard 3 roods 12 perches in Bradmore, and 12 acres 0 roods 39 perches in Bunny, at rent £29/17/4 pa. 1868 Thomas Rowbotham, farmer, listed as trustee of Bradmore Methodist Church in the deeds, may this Thomas or his son. Also 1871-81, Constable paid vestry rent 5/- to Thomas Rowbotham, could be either Thomas. 1871 age 71, joiner, married to Mary, with servant Mary Boot. Appears to be in Parkyns, Farmer St. (Bradmore 1871/71). 1881 age 82, cottager, farmer of 12 acres, married to Mary, back on Orchard House site (Bradmore 1881/65). 1885/6 Whites Directory, cottager. Electoral roll with land and tenement, 1886-7, as Thomas senr. Died 19.10.1886 age 87, buried 22.10.1886 at Bunny north side of the tower, with wife Mary. Jan.1887 the executors of Thomas Rowbotham recovered the amount owing to Thomas as former Treasurer by Bradmore Methodist Church, paid out of £100 loan taken out to repay Thomas and to pay for repairs to the chapel ceiling. Possibly the S Roobotham, sculptor of Bradmore, who signed the tombstone of Richard Attenborough (died 1785, stone in south-east section of Bunny churchyard. It might not have been erected until 1826, the date of administration of Richard’s will.) May have married Elizabeth Gun of Bunny at Bunny 16.10.1804. Robert Roobotham bapt. Bunny 22.9.1771, son of Robert and Alice of Bradmore. Probably the Robert who received payment from the Constables in 1780, 1782, 1784 and 1785 for catching sparrows, and in 1784 for crows. Married Elizabeth Marson of Bunny at Bunny 3.8.1807, banns having been read on 20th and 27th July and 3.8.1807. Hannah Rowbotham daughter of Robert and Elizabeth married John Rowbotham of Bradmore son of Thomas and Mary 12.1.1803 - see under John. Ann Roobotham married John Fish of Lenton at Bunny 8.7.1794. Thomas Roobotham paid by the Constable in 1791 for catching a hedgehog. Sarah Rowbotham born c1796, buried Bunny 1.5.1825 age 29. Ann Rowbotham of Bradmore buried Bunny 10.1.1808. Ellen Rowe married Thomas Angrave of Great Leake at Bunny 15.6.1612. William Row of Bradmore, husbandman, left will dated 21.6.1613. Bequests ‘to John my son £12 in full contentacion and satisfaction ... to Jane (or Anne?) my daughter £12 in like contentation of her child portion... to William my son £12 in full contentation and satisfaction of his child portion ... to Simon my son £12 etc... to Mary my daughter £12 etc... The rest and residue of all my goods and chattels ... I give and bequeath to Alice my wife, and Margaret my daughter and ... the said Alice and Margaret my executors... and I appoint John Polve? of Normanton in this parish of Plumtree,

On Bradmore electoral roll 1870 in the category £12+ rent p.a., and 1871-5 in the category £50+ p.a. 1871 age 62, farmer of 170 acres (Rancliffe Farm) employing 1 labourer, married to Frances with children Sam, Sarah, Ann and Fanny and servant Thomas Corby (Bradmore 1871/1). 1881 age 71 widower in daughter Sarah Ann’s house with her husband Royce Turner, 42 farmer of 260 acres at Clifton with Glapton, Notts.
