Milton Driggers, 61, of Madison, Fla., passed away at Madison County Memorial Hospital on Dec.13, 2018, after a six-year battle with Alzheimer's. Milton worked for the United States Post Office for 33 years as a mail carrier before retiring in 2013. Milton loved people and would do anything to bring a smile to their face. He was strong in his Christian faith and lived to serve others. Milton was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison. He enjoyed making wonderful memories with his family. Whether it was anticipating trips to the mountains or family gatherings, family was his favorite place to be. He enjoyed the outdoors and woodworking. Most afternoons you could find him outside. Milton will be missed greatly by his family. He loved big. Being called Daddy or Papa was his greatest joy next to being called husband. 14 Junior Beta Club members from Madison Creative Arts Academy Literary Xmas tree at MCHS (MCAA) attended the Junior Beta Convention, on Monday, Nov. 26, and Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Orlando. Under the theme, "Beta Fueling the Future," students competed in a variety of events, including academic competitions in language arts, math, science, social studies, public speaking, engineering, creative writing, poetry, portfolio design and visual arts such as photography, graphic design and fiber arts. Students also attended general sessions and had the opportunity to interact with other Betas from across the state at a dance on Monday evening. Riley Browning placed second in the state in eighth-grade language arts. She is now eligible to compete at the National Junior Beta Convention which will be held June 15-18, 2019, in Oklahoma City, Okla. This is Riley's second year in a row to place at the state level. It's that time of year again and the Madison County High School (MCHS) th Girls Basketball team are gearing up for a great season. Frandrecia Hodge, 12 th th grade, Essence Hampton, 11 grade, Brittany Boynton, 11 grade, and Simmora th Lott, 10 grade, are the team's managers. As managers, they all agree that it is a fun job to do, but concentration is key. Simmora Lott, a current sophomore, enjoys helping the girls on the team. She has been very active and wants to continue doing it next year. Brittany Boynton, previously played basketball but decided to become a manager this year. "It's really not hard being a manager," said Hodge. "I chose to become a manager so I could motivate the players and boost their spirits. Additionally, Hodge, who has been a manager for three years, said her volunteerism involved the idea of also being able to have fun. The Madison Youth Soccer program recently celebrated a successful first season. During the season, six teams of youngsters learned the basic fundamentals of soccer while enjoying the fun of competition. Teams were divided up according to age with two five and under teams, two eight and under teams and two 11 and under teams.
