We had a drone fly over our church last week in order to see the progress on the new roof. As you can see, there is good progress. The darker roofing is the new part. Hopefully this will be done in a couple more weeks.

A few weeks ago, I asked if we had any parishioners who enjoy gardening and would be interested in adopting parts of the parish property to help with weeding, trimming, and keeping up the landscaping. We had a great response and we have adopted out ten different areas. I am very grateful to our volunteers and I have already seen workers out in 90 -degree weather. If you come across a worker working around the grounds, be sure to take a minute to thank them.

You may notice a new plaque in the Gathering Space along with other awards. The American Red Cross issued an award to our parish for the overwhelming response to our last blood drive, promoted by the Knights. We had more units of blood donated than any other non -business blood drive in Fort Wayne.

Last summer I met a quiet young man who was coming to our daily Mass and sitting in the back of church. I found that his name is Matt Reinhart. Matt was a new college graduate, preparing to begin a year with FOCUS, a group which offers Catholic ministry on college campuses. These FOCUS missionaries are required to do fundraising for their own salaries. I signed up to help with a small monthly donation. Matt has spent a year working with students at Wright State University in Dayton and will return in the fall to begin another year. If you would be interested in learning more about FOCUS or if you would like to help Matt, you can contact him at 419 -258 -0435, or through email at [email protected].
